19/05/11 4 4 5 5 I have used Dr E for many years, he does take a bit to warm up to. But there is no reason for anyone to complain about his bed side manner. Do you want a clown helping you with you medical concerns, or a professional. He also, does not just write a prescription for every problem, he tries to fix it before writing you a prescription. This probably helps weed out the people that are pill poppers! His staff can be short sometimes, but they are busy and its not like you are friends with them and inviting them over for dinner. Dr E has been our family Dr for sometime and my family would never switch, even when they lived 4 hours away, they still stayed as his patient. Also, being so busy, he took my husband on as a patient after his dr closed his practice. They always fit us in if theres an emergency. He also has 2 nurse practioners on staff to help with his patients. I would highly recommend Dr E, if you lighten up the conversation, you can always get a laugh from him!  Respond

01/03/11 3 5 2 2 Maybe he is knowledgeable, I am not sure because he is not talking much. I went to him for 3 times complaining from the same issues through out one year and he kept sending me back with no medicine or solution. I found from one of my friends about a medicine for my issue and in my last visit when DR R E about to send me out for the forth time, I told him about the medicine, he smiled and he wrote it for me. The medicine is working fine, my life is way better.. I am sorry to say it but I am disappointed. He is ok in the normal steady cases but not sure if he will be ok if I have serious issues.  Respond

04/09/10 4 5 2 5 Dr. Esterbauer is an incredibly knowledgeable physician. That being said his "bedside manner" leaves something to be desired. Unpersonable comes to mind - it's hard to feel comfortable around him. If you are looking for a doctor who shows a genuine interest in you it might be a good idea to keep looking. That being said, if you are looking for a no-nonsense doctor with little doctor patient interaction he is right for you.  Respond

29/01/10 2 5 5 5 I am very happy with Dr Esterbauer. He is very knowledgeable. I admit I didnt like him at the begining but I love him now. He is my baby's pediatrician as well and as a first mom I could be very annoying btu he always listen and shows patience. I agree the secretary doesnt have the best social sills but who cres she does the job and always givesme appoinment for same day or next. The office is so nice now and very modernized with modern equipment.Regarding the new nurse i am so sorry i dont remember her name but she is really really good an sweet. I am so happy my former family Dr refered me to Dr Esterbauer.  Respond

03/01/10 1 3 2 2 He's an okay doctor. Not much personality and isn't very forthcoming with information. You have to pry it out of him. His staff are terrible! Rude and extremely unhelpful. I HATE calling or going to his office because they are so rude. I'd much rather go to a clinic than make an appointment with this doctor.  Respond

18/11/09 2 3 1 2 I have been seeing this doctor for ten years. I wish I had positive things to say about him, but I don't. I find also as another comment states, that he has been in this profession for much too long and seems uninterested when I try to talk to him and or get any answers. In the past on more than one occasion he has given me a website to look for the answers I'm requesting. I have had to deal with a few very important health issues and have not found this doctor helpful at all, unfortunately. His staff??? Well I find one is/can be and has been very rude to myself and others, and the other, it depends what day??? (meaning depends on how her day is going/gone.) He has recently hired a very kind and extremely helpful nurse that comes in a few days a week, and I have heard that the other Doctor,(Dr. G. Um) is a very kind, open and understanding doctor. I wish it was easier to find a new family doctor, in my area as again, I have been unhappy with this Dr. for too long.....10 years.  Respond

04/11/09 5 5 5 5 Experienced family doctor with excellent diagnostic and listening skills. His gentle sense of humour calms anxiety and helps allay fears in a tense patient. Appears to be well-respected by his colleagues. Office staff patient and considerate.  Respond

27/10/09 1 2 2 3 Dr. Esterbauer has been my doctor for many years. I hate phoning his office because his staff is so rude. I now avoid going to see him because of his staff and prefer to use a local walk-in clinic where I am treated with respect and dignity. Dr. Esterbauer needs to find new staff that treat patients with respect!  Respond

17/02/09 3 4 5 5 Dr Esterbauer is a good listener and give his opinion only when necessary. I think he pays more attention to serious health issues and do not talk much about minor stuff. I find him helpful and informed.  Respond

19/01/09 1 1 2 2 He misdiagnosed a common case of pneumonia that another doctor picked up in less than 2 minutes. His front desk staff also needs to learn the basics of the term "Customer Service" I'm glad I left this "Doctor" (for lack of a better term) behind for another more qualified physician. Thank GOD for OHIP because if I had to pay for this type of "service" I'd be very ticked off.  Respond

04/12/08 2 3 5 5 Dr. Esterbauer has been my doctor for over 20 years. He has always been there when my any of my children needed him. He supported me through a major illness and seemed very concerned. He has finally had his office renovated, which really gave it a big lift! I wouldn't change my family doctor for anything! His staff, on the other hand definitely needs some help to become more congenial with patients.  Respond

27/11/07 3 3 5 5 Dr. Esterbauer is surely knowledgeable, patient(that's very important since we are not profesional on that area) and very serious with his job. The benefit that my family receive is he is paediatrician of my baby as well so that we whole family could visit him. If needed, he would refer specilist or book appointment with hospital. Besides, we could receive feedback after checking properly. We are happy to have him to be our family doctor. Absolutely, the receptionists need to improve the manner and the office furniture needs to be updated.  Respond

29/07/07 4 5 5 5 He is a great doctor and I can't believe that you can get an appointment if you need it on the same day or the next. Our last MD you had to wait for 6 weeks or go to the walkin clinic. I find he is patient and listens to you and will refer to a specialist if needed. We drive a long way to see him but it is worth it. I have never had to wait more than 15 ninutes but with our last MD we had to wait sometimes for over an hour. He is what a family physician should be like. He doesn't overbook his patients and he has a walk-in clinic on Saturdays so you only see him or his partner and not a Doctor you don't know and doesn't know you. I do agree with the other patients that the office is really shabby but everything else makes up for it.  Respond

11/06/07 4 4 4 He is a good Doctor however he does not offer too much in the way of information, and seems reluctant to use the services of specialists. His office needs an immediate face lift. The paint is peeling off the walls, the carpet is filthy, and the furniture is in very poor condition, quite dirty and needs replacing.  Respond
RID: 329167
26/05/07 3 4 4 I agree his office should be renovated. I also think he should get in the 21st century and computerize his office. Apart from that I find him a good listener with a good sense of humour. He doesn't seem to offer any information but does if you ask all the right questions.  Respond

10/04/07 3 4 4 He does not talk much, but will answer any questions you may have. Office definately needs to be cleaned up!  Respond

04/04/07 2 4 3 Hes an alright doctor. Doesn't really take the time to see whats wrong. Seems like hes getting tired of his job. But when u ask for something (for example a referal to see a specialist) he will give it to you  Respond

17/03/07 4 5 5 Has a great sense of humour, makes you feel comfortable, very knowledgable, makes housecalls. But what about the filthy furniture that sags when you sit on it? Office definitely needs to be renovated. He makes up for the condition of the office. Dr. Greg Um is excellent too.  Respond

05/02/07 3 4 4 Listens to patients. Will refer to specialist if he feels it is necessary. Does follow-ups.  Respond
