09/02/11 1 4 1 1 He needs to retire, very abrupt, and never believes a word I say. I miss my old doctor, that passed away. Lines are always busy, can never get through. Anne is the best, friendly all the time, Look forward to blood pressure testing just to talk to her for awhile.  Respond

06/10/10 1 3 3 3 Dr. Maki has been our family doctor for a few years. I was grateful he took us on as patients after our family doctor retired. He has been good to my family and his nurse is wonderful. JANICE IS A DISGRACE TO HIS PROFESSION AND PRACTICE. SHE IS A GOSSIP AND OPINIONATED AND WHY DR. MAKI ALLOWS THIS WOMAN TO REPRESENT HIM IS QUESTIONABLE. IF SHE SPENT AS MUCH TIME DOING HER JOB AS SHE DID TALKING AND GOSSIPING, PATIENTS WOULDN'T BE PUT ON HOLD FOR LONG PERIODS AFTER HAVING SPENT HOURS JUST TRYING TO GET THROUGH. I just love being in the waiting room when patients confront Janice and tell her it's no wonder they can never get through on the phone!!!  Respond

22/01/08 1 1 3 3 Time to retire, Dr. Maki. My last 2 appointments have been cancelled by him, once because he was going golfing, and another for no reason. His receptionist needs an attitude adjustment too. Too bad the health care system lets disinterested doctors continue to practice.  Respond

22/11/07 3 2 1 1 I was a patient of this man many years ago and fortunate enough to switch doctors. Unfortunately, my parents were unable to replace him. My mother is only "sick in her head" as he would say, but when she took the initiative to go down south to Lockwood, she was diagnosed with Osteoporosis and Fibramialgia. My father passed away last November due to complicaions of diabetes. Dr. Maki is a self righteous man who has no bed side manners and treats people poorly. He is a very impatient, rude, incompetent doctor that should retire or stick to being a coroner. I am not being being bias...I have spoken to MANY people who feel the same.  Respond

23/07/07 4 5 4 4 I've been a patient of Dr.Maki's for many years and have never had a problem with him. He does seem like a serious person but I've been able to make him laugh several times! He does often rush but I just let him know that I'm not finished and to take a load off and have a seat!! He's not a bad doctor!  Respond

12/06/07 3 5 5 Dr. Maki saved my life by sending me for a breast biopsy eventhough my mammogram showed no signs of cancer. I did have breast cancer as the biopsy showed.  Respond

He has taken me through some bad times with a very professional manner and I have not got a negative thing to say about him. He's a very busy doctor and my hat is off to him!!!  Respond

15/05/07 5 5 5 Dr. Maki has been my doctor my whole life and has now taken on my family. He has always taken the additional step in finding us exceptional care. He is always asking about my family's health and truly does still care. All these people that are complaing about him, should clearly quit wasting his time and find someone else. I don't know who you are seeing cause it isn't Dr. Maki. And as for the secretary and nurse, they are both fantastic people and super at what they do. Dr. Maki has himself a great team and my family will be so sad when he retires.  Respond

19/04/07 3 1 1 *PATIENT BEWARE* I believe Dr. Maki is just 'playing' Doctor now and has lost all interest in his profession. I was totally misdiagnosed by this man and it almost cost me my life. I will never have confidence in this man again. If you do continue with him DON'T let him put you off if you beleive something is wrong with you. It's our tax dollars that pay him his salary!  Respond

16/04/07 3 1 1 Dr Maki is not a patient man anymore. He has been my Dr since birth, he is my kids Dr and my husband. He has let each and every one of us down, I went in feeling unwell, listed some concerns and symptoms, but his Stethoscope coulnd't find anything, so I was sent home. This is not the first time I have or my family member has been dismissed by him. I currently have a health issue I need to see a Dr about but going to him is not an option, as his stethoscope won't pick anything up on this one either. Time to retire the stethoscope Dr Maki, or start taking proper care of your patients, you are the most unapproachable Dr I have met, and I have met a few being in the business!  Respond

13/04/07 5 5 5 I have been seeing Dr. Maki for 40 years now. He has been a very good family doctor when I was younger and now with my new family. He has always taken his time and has shown compassion when needed. It is only rare that I have a longer wait than normal. Doctor Maki can only treat you if you give him the proper information. If the problem still exsits go and see him again. I have never had a problem getting a referal and he was super when the obstetric doctors were on strike. He will be my doctor until he retires. Janice maybe no nonsense but she gets you in especially when it has to do with my children. The children like her and Doctor Maki as you can tell by the posted artwork.  Respond

11/04/07 1 1 1 Dr. Maki has been my doctor most of my life. I never new how bad he was till I started having problems. I can't recall how many days of work I had missed to go in and wait for him to tell me, " your young, it's probably just something your eating!". I had to get pretty upset before he finally sent me to a specialist which soon found I had Chrone's disease. One time when going for blood work, I asked the blood clinic to also do an H.I.V test, figuring in this day and age it's better to be safe than sorry. They said they would just send the results to my family doctor. Well, when missing more time from work, I waited over an hour from my appointment time, to find out he did not accept my results! Why? Because he was not the one who sent me in for the test. I guess I had to miss more work to come in so he could send me in, so he could make the money off that visit! I will wait in a after hours clinic before waiting for him anymore. And dont' get me going on the secritary, one ****yoldlady  Respond

04/04/07 3 1 1 I left Dr Maki as a patient long ago for his lack of listening to what was ailing me and I was often being misdiagnosed. I pleaded with my parents to leave his practice as well, but they were faithful to him. Now my father understands because the same is happening to him.. He now calls him Dr Dolittle.. Cause he does little..  Respond

02/04/07 4 2 3 Dr. Maki has been my doctor all of my life and was able to take on my children and husband as well, for that I am greatfull. He is always there when we need his help, but on most of my visits he always focuses on me being overweight even if there are more serious concerns on my behalf. This is frustrating...overall , his care has been satisfactory.  Respond

29/03/07 3 1 2 Dr. Maki is one of the most chauvanistic doctors I have ever had the misforturne of dealing with. As a child he often dismissed my symptoms as a means to get out of gym class or chores. I ended up in the emergency room at 2am due to his dismissal of my symptoms - I had acute appendicitis. The doctor who performed my operation wondered why my parents had not gone about getting medical help prior to this emergency. He was told the diagnosis from Maki - "she probably just wants to get out of doing dished and other girl things she should be doing". The second I was old enough to make my own decisions I changed doctors . . . soon afterwards so did my mother.  Respond

25/03/07 4 5 5 My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Maki's for over 38 years. He is our rock and a solid and caring physician. He does not hesitate at any time to refer us to a specialist for further testing. The good health we enjoy today is due to his diligence and total attention. We have never been rushed out of the office in our 38 years of experience and we can discuss a whole gamut of health issues at one time if it is necessary. As a rule, no one person can please everyone all of the time but in the case of Dr. Maki, we have received 101% of his attention and care ALL THE TIME. Rolly & Art Mousseau, Sudbury  Respond

19/03/07 5 5 5 Dr. Maki has been my doctor since 1963. I have always found him to be most professional and competent. Never have I had a problem making an appointment and most often very quickly. His follow-up has always been great. He cares. He gives solid and firm decisions and advise. I am so surprised to read some of the negative comments from a few patients but there are always complainers in our world. I wouldn't want any other doctor I thank Dr. Make for looking after me so well for so many years. Joe Drago  See Responses

18/03/07 2 1 3 He was my family Dr. for most of my life and as soon as I was old enough to make my own decisions I left his practice. I found him cold and hard to talk to. I never felt comfortable discussing anything with him and felt he was very judgemental. He always made the decisions regarding care and never suggested any alternatives.  Respond

13/03/07 5 5 5 I first saw Dr. Maki at work at a hospital, and was impressed by his care of someone I knew. When I needed a family doctor two years ago, I was pleased and relieved with the thoroughness of the care I received. His approach is no-nonsense, get to the point, so I make sure I'm prepared when I get there. But even when I felt that my symptoms were vague, he got to the root of the problem. I'm very fortunate and feel very confident with Dr. Maki and his staff.  Respond

11/03/07 5 5 5 Great Dr. Janice always able to get the children in asap when they are sick. Thank you! Dr Maki has been my dr for 32 year. I find as he gets older he is more attentif and not as rushed. or maybe I only go to the Dr's when I really need to... I feel too many people go to the Drs for NO REASON... So I don't blame him or any Dr that rushed you out if you really don't need to be there.  Respond

03/03/07 1 1 1 Horrible doctor..always in a rush..doesn't seem to care..very condescending and just down right rude. Had him as a family doctor when I was young and first chance I had I found a new doctor. I would not see DR MAKI if he was the last doctor on earth. Oh ya and he is the reason my father almost died..thanks DR MAKI..if you weren't in such a rush you would have caught the 10cm aneurism  Respond

09/02/07 4 5 5 I have had Dr. Maki as a Doctor for over 26 years. He is truly an amazing Dr. and great at what he does. He has taken my husband as a patient and has helped him out when no one else would. Now that we have a child he is always there for us even if it is a last minute emergency. He knows his stuff and knows his patients. His bed side manner is amazing. My family will be saddened when it is time for him to retire. He is truly one of the best Doctor's in Sudbury.  Respond

29/01/07 1 1 1 THIS DR IS MORE INTERESTED IN HIS MONEY THAN HELPING HIS PATIENTS. INSTEAD OF FINDING OUT WHAT IS WRONG HE JUST HANDS OUT PILLS. WHEN MY HUSBAND WAS YOUNG HE SAID HIS CHEST PAINS WERE JUST GAS AND NOW THAT HE IS OLDER, STILL GAS EVEN THOUGH HIS BLOOD PRESSURE WAS THOUGH THE ROOF! AS WELL HE GOT CROOSS WHEN MY HUSBAND MENTIONED MORE THAN ONE SYMPTOM, IE CHEST PAINS ,DIZZINESS, SEEEING WHITE SPOTS,ETC. AND SAID TO BOOK ANOTHER APPT. FOR EACH CONCERN?! THIS DR NEEDS TO RETIRE HE JUST DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE ABOUT HIS PATIENTS ANYMORE.  Respond
