Dr. Marais is all of the above. He is the best Doctor that I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. Dr. Marais also delivered my child. After the birth child I came down with an infection and he made the time to see me everyday in his office for a few weeks, instead of me being admitted to the hospital. I can not tell you how thankful I was for that. Dr. Marais even took the time to call my home to see how I was doing. Very, very caring and compassionate Dr. whom I would recommend highly.

Ditto on all the glowing comments. Dr. Marais was one of the doctors I would see at a very good clinic in Maple Ridge. I was bitten by one of my parrots just below my lip and needed stitches. He suggested to me that he could do a better job by not freezing the area and could I handle it. I'm good with pain, so I told him to go ahead. Yes, it was a bit miserable, but I can't even see a hint of where the bite was. What CAN'T Dr. Marais do! I'm out of the Maple Ridge area and miss having the care of such an excellent physician. Actually, not quite sure what it was, but all of the doctors at that clinic were tops in my eyes.

I first had Dr.Marais as my doctor about 9 years ago. A few years later, my family moved away from Maple Ridge. We have thankfully moved back a few years ago now. He is the best doctor out there in my family's opinion! Every member of our family that lives in Maple Ridge, has him as their doctor. He is highly recommended! Sometimes there is a bit of a wait but he is worth every minute of it! His family/staff are very helpful. When you see him, you feel like your the only patient in the building as he devotes his attention to you completely! He does everything above and beyond in being helpful, knowledgeable, trustworthy, honest and professional! I have had to go to walk-ins when he is unavailable and have had nothing but problems. I have sworn off other doctors. I go where ever, when ever, to see him. Thank you Dr. Marais for being you!

Dr. Marais is probably the best doctor I have ever had the pleasure of having as a GP. He's helped me through the life and eventually the demise of my husband, through some pretty horrid health problems of my own, and has kept me sane through the whole time I've had need of his advice and help. I only hope he doesn't decide to specialize, although he is qualified to do so, because I personally have no need of an ob/gyn. He and his wife and staff have been most accomodating of my needs and demands and I would be very sorry to have to live without their help.

Dr. Marais saved my son's life. The first time I saw him was when I was 20 weeks pregnant when I lived in Maple Ridge. My family doctor was away and he agreed to see me even though he was finishing for the day when I called. At first he thought I was going to miscarry, then he spent what seemed like an hour making calls and having me sent in an ambulance to Women's Hospital for surgery that ended up keeping me from giving birth for 6 more weeks - long enough for my baby to survive. I'll certainly never forget him.

Dr. Marais is one of our angels. My son hurt his leg at work, saw a doctor who told him to get ex-rays and come back in a week. I took him to the clinic that night, Dr. Marais knew what was wrong with his leg, called up an orthopedic surgeon, and he was in surgery the next morning. (apparently an ex-ray would not have showed the problem) Then another time I had a problem, also concerning another physician, Dr. Marais took me on right away-------and I have been his ever since. I love Dr. Marais also.

Another thumbs up for Dr.Marais! I found him when I was pregnant with my 1st born. I had multiple complications in my initial pregnancy; bleeding, flat sac, severe hyperemesis which required hospitalization for almost a month, etc, and he never gave up on us. He was quick to get me in for tests and even sat on his cell phone to the local gynecologist while trying to figure out the u/s machines at the hospital to give me peace of mind. Dr. Marais would even call me at home at night after having tests done to confirm everything was ok. He never left us hanging. He was off the weekend I delivered but came in anyways. We too got the teddy bear and pics along with a CD of our son. Yes sometimes the waits are long but well worth my time (even though my son might not agree). There are not enough words to express what a wonderful doctor he is. We just look deep into our hearts, just as he seems to do for his patients, and we know he is the perfect doctor. Dr.Marais,you could do no better!!!!

Dr. Marais is the best. He will take the time to talk to you listen and even joke with you. At his office you may have to wait a bit to see him but it's well worth the wait for a Dr. who is interestead in your problem not your money.

Dr. Marais is the best Dr. He was my Dr. for the pregnancy and birth of my son. I am greatful for him as he saved my son life at birth. To see your Dr. encourage you to push, supporting you telling you that you can do it. Then things go wrong my son got stuck and he went into distress and stopped breathing. To see your dr.'s facial expresions change to a serious focus face. You new he was thinking your not going to die on me. Dr. Marais helped me push him out. He tubed and bagged my son and worked on him which felt like hour but it was only minutes and finally he cried. In my eyes he is my hero who save my first born. I am forever greatful. Thankyou

I LOVE Dr. Marais. He always seems happy to see us and feels like part of our family! He gets down to the root of your problem and makes a quick informed decision. He really listens to you and takes his time (which may be why you have to wait a bit longer to see him). In my view though it's totally worth the wait! Highly recommend him!

After reading all the comments I am sorry I did not have Dr. Marais during my pregnancy! He is a terrific Doctor in general. He is one of the best doctors in Maple Ridge. I never feel rushed when I see him. I always feel I have been well looked after when I leave the office. Yes, we are lucky in Maple Ridge to have him!

This is my first pregnancy and Dr. Marais has been a real joy to go to - he is very knowledgeable and always leaves me feeling as though I'm in good hands. I look forward to him being my newborns' GP, as well as being my Dr. for the next baby. He also has some funny terms when it comes to discussing the baby as seen on the ultrasound, which really keeps one at ease and makes you feel comfortable. A great doctor!!

I agree with all of the other comments made about Dr. Marais. He also delivered my daughter and is caring for me now during my second pregnancy, as well as being our family doctor. He is very easy to talk to, very knowledgeable, very kind and genuinely cares (I believe) about his patients. I had a bit of a problem last week to do with my pregnancy that had me a bit scared, but he totally put my mind at ease and covered all aspects for me. He is great. Wait times are sometimes a bit of an issue, but from what I understand, they are with most good doctors, so it is something that I am willing to overlook to get care from such a great doctor.

HAD DR. MARAIS IN YORKTON. I EXPECTED TO FIND EXCELLENTS REVIEWS ON HIM AND IT IS GOOD TO SEE THERE ARE SUCH DR.S WHO TRULY ARE CALLED TO THEIR PROFESSION AND DO NOT LEAVE ONE IN A STATE OF BEING LET DOWN, LET ALONE TO EVEN FEEL THAT WAY! I NEVER HAD A DR. LIKE DR. MARAIS AND SHALL BE BLESSED ABOVE ALL EXPECTATIONS IF I FIND ANOTHER LIKE HIM. Dr Marais is our family doctor who also delivered my daughter. He took such good care of us, and made me feel very comfortable. After my daughter was born he took pictures of us and gave us a CD with the pictures as well as a little pink teddy bear. He is the most thoughtful doctor I have ever had.

Sincerely the best doctor we've ever had. Always looks happy to see us, always remembers what's going on, and seems genuinely concerned with any of our problems. We feel he's very thorough in finding a reason/solution to any of our medical issues. Works very long hours, and yet never rushes through our visits.

Took me on at 37 weeks pregnant when no other doctor did. Wonderful bedside manner. Took photos when my daughter was born and brought them printed out for us the next day in hospital. Gets to the bottom of the problem. Listens to his patients. If you in anyway can have him as your doc-- you would be crazy not to!

Doctor Marais, was one of the best doctors I had. He was kind, caring, condiderate, awesome bedside manner and always got to the bottom of a problem. He was my doctor in Yorkton Sask.... and is truely missed Maple Ridge, BC you are very lucky to have him for your doctor!!!!
