Condition: severely frozen shoulder, locked in place. Treatment: no xray; no mri, no pre-treatment scans. Doctor wrenched shoulder free with insufficient pain medication in his office. Patient was traumatized, both physically and mentally. Consulted another orthopedist who thoroughly scanned condition, recommended surgery under general anesthetic and a round of supervised therapy. Shoulder is therefore 100% today. In another case, this patient's father's treatment for tuberculosis of the bone in the right thumb was insufficient as condition never improved, causing excessive pain and trauma. Another doctor was consulted who immediately amputated the thumb, preventing further infection and possible loss of life.
