I was speaking with my friends tonight about how much I loved and respected Dr.Fenzl whose correct "on the spot" emergency diagnosis 7 years ago saved me from a life of permanent medication and disability. Under her care and her staff encouragement I was restored to complete health which I still enjoy. I am now 70 and retired in April. We went to the internet tonight only to realize abject sadness about her health and the closing of her practice. If there is anything I can do to help "Dr. Susan" towards her recovery I would love to try. Robert Ross (Miramichi at the time)

I have been a patient of Dr. Fenzyl since she first started in Fredericton I think. I understood her and was always comfortable with her. I have read a few unfair comments about her and it makes me sad. I am going to miss her as a doctor. The people that are angry at her for closing her practice should stop and think about it first, doctors get sick too!! It will be very hard to find a doctor that I trusted as much as her. God bless her and her family.

Dr. Fenzl has been my doctor since I moved to Fredericton in 1992. I have 4 children and have always appreciated Dr. Fenzl's care for my family. I am very concerned for her health right now, because of her past history and knowing that she would not intentionally leave her patients without a doctor. I hope she is okay and , as the previous writer noted, having to cope with finding a new doctor is nothing compared to dealing with a serious health issue. I wish her well and hope it is nothing serious, but my prayers are with her and her family.

I was a fairly new patient of Dr. Fenzls (after my son was born) so I haven't had too much experience with her. I know when I got the letter stating her office would be closed I was VERY upset. I now have an 8 month old with no family doctor. Although I agree it is frustrating beyond belief to find myself in this situation I can only imagine that something major must have happened for this to come about the way it has. I was told that Dr. Fenzl was out some time ago for quite awhile because she had cancer, and found out today from a receptionist at another doctors office that she is once again sick, they're saying her cancer has returned. Not sure if this is 100% accurate, but if so I think I can step back from my own worries/concerns about not having a doctor any longer and just imagine what she and her family must be going through right now. I hope that what I heard isn't true and she is doing well and I hope everyone affected by the closure can find a new doctor soon!

I did not and do not find Dr. Fenzl or her staff to be caring. And now we get a letter stating her office is now permanently closed. GREAT?! So now what???? I would think a responsible doctor would find another doctor for her patients. The letter does not give a time frame for finding another doctor where as our records could be forwarded too. Perhaps we should all request our own files so that we have them and could give them to another doctor if and when we find one. Maybe if we are lucky enough we can find one that works fulltime hours and is not running an hour or so late everyday. I had an appointment first thing in the morning and she walked in 25 minutes late.

I have been with Dr. Fenzl for 17 years and just received a letter stating her office is now closed. What is a person to do about a doctor in this city there are none accepting new patients. I have always had a great relationship with Dr. Fenzl but I am very upset that the only notice of this happening was a letter dated March 9 the office closed. Does anyone know what happened? Is there help for us who now have no family doctor?

I have had Dr. Fenzl for 11 yrs. She considers herself a true "family" doctor, and even though she is not accepting new patients, she does accept everyone who is in the family, including brothers & their spouses. She is thorough, doesn't rush and very kind. My main issue is that she is a PT doctor, keeping PT hours. But, I knew that when I chose her. She does shifts in the ER and until recently covered a nursing home. As such her office hours are limited making appt scheduling hard. Not so good for when you are sick. Also, because she is thorough she tends to run behind. I always call before I go to see if she is on time or not. Office staff (Sherry) is great; always calls back and tries to squeeze in the kids when I need it. I need comment on an earlier post re "8 months stress leave". Dr. Fenzl was given an awful diagnosis, not stress. I am just glad she was able to return to work despite what she went through. The characterization made by the poster is awful.

Dr Fenzl is a very caring person and seems to really know her stuff but doesn't hesitate to refer me to a specialist if there is ever a concern outside of her expertise. She has cared for me through 2 pregnancies and has always been very pleasant and helpful and is great with my toddler who doesn't always like going to the doctor. My only complaint is that she is sometimes very behind schedule and I have waited up to 2 hours past my appointment time before. Sherri the receptionist is wonderful as well.

Very empathetic & helpful. Does not rush & overbook patients. Have gone to her almost since her arrival in F'ton. Only difficult time was during her own medical treatment & there was no dr. covering her practice for part of that time. Always able to get appt. when urgently required. Overall, excellent care from her.

Dr.Fenzl is such a nice, and caring physician with wonderful office staff as well. She never rushes a decision, she sent my son for proper tests before referring him to a specialist, and takes her time to go over all options before proceeding. As for appointments I have never had a problem getting any family member in, usually within a day or 2 if it is an emergency. Anyone who has her as their family physician should consider themselves lucky.

Susan Fenzl is extraordinary; we couldn't be more fortunate to be in her care. She's straightforward, kind, gentle, empathetic and thorough. She's modern and refreshingly practical. She never leaves us puzzled. She takes an astonishing number of notes and although she must have about 3,000 patients, she remembers us.

I have experienced some problems with Dr. Fenzl. She hardly is in her office, there is always a message on her phone saying they are closed, she has rarely been compassionate with my family, it is nearly impossible to get an appointment with her, and she often seems distracted with her own personal situations (stress leave for 8 months). I am wondering if we can switch to a new, reliable doctor as we now have a new-born. I guess not everyone has had a pleasent experience with Dr. Fenzl. Too bad.

I've been a patient of Dr Fenzl's now for 13 years and she has been wonderful! She has a big heart and is extremely compassionate. She has been so helpful over the years for not only me but my children aswell. When my children were sick, Sherry always found a spot to fit them in! You don't get sevice like that everywhere. Although sometimes the waits were long...Dr. Fenzl is absolutely worth the wait! Our family is very fortunate to have her as our doctor.

Dr. Fenzl took me on as a patient 13 years ago, when I was new to the city and having no luck at all finding a family doctor. She was not taking patients at the time, but knew I needed to see a doctor, and so she managed to fit me in. She now looks after my husband and helped us bring our children into the world and care for them too. She is truly family oriented, and is compassionate, thorough, extremely knowledgeable and perceptive. She takes the time to really listen and assess, treating the causes, and not just the symptoms, which sometimes means that she runs a little late. However, the minor lateness is for the very best of reasons. I feel truly fortunate to have her as our doctor. Her assistant Sherry is also excellent and very helpful. I highly recommend them both.

I have been seeing Dr.Fenzl for over 5 years. She took me on as a patient when she was originally seeing my father, and I have no regrets at all. She is a truly kind and compassionate, highly intelligent woman who makes you feel very at ease talking about any medical (or personal) issues. She does indeed embody the term "family doctor"..since first seeing my father she now sees my Aunt & Uncle, myself & my new daughter, and is willing to take on my husband.

Dr. Fenzl is a true "family" doctor. When I first started seeing her alomost 9 years ago she assured me she would take anyone in my family on as a patient, and she has. She is very friendly, kind and caring. She takes her time, which sometimes makes you wait to see her, but it is well worth it. On top of that she has a great medical receptionist, Sherry, who has always been very helpful.

Although she is not my family doctor, she attended me once during a visit to emergency 5 or 6 years ago and I remember her as being, kind, compassionate, caring and knowledgeable. If I did not already have an excellent family doctor, I would want Dr. Fenzl.

This hard working and friendly lady knows her stuff. I have been her patient for > 10 years and have been very happy with service (except she does gently remind me to lose some weight!). I feel very lucky to have her as my doctor and she does not retire for a long, long time.

Dr. Fenzl was kind enough to accept me as a new patient since I was new to this city and did not have a family doctor. At our first meeting, I was very impressed and pleased with the fact that she took the time to talk with me and ask several questions, not only regarding my health, but also my family's health. I am very pleased and fortunate to have her as a family doctor; she is very easy to talk to and very attentive.

Dr. Fenzl is a great doctor that really cares. She's even called me at home to check up on me when she received a report that I'd been to emergency. She followed up on a problem (kidney disease) that appeared to be gone (because the visible symptoms were) but in fact the problem was still there. If it had not been for her, I don't even want to think about what might have happened.

Dr. Fenzl is very down-to-earth and easy to speak to. She will take the time to discuss the "bigger" problems, but may not have the time for the "little" problems. In general, I am very happy to have her as a family physician.
