:) Click to report rating *  11/16/09 4 4 5 DR B and his staff are the most compassionate, understanding medical team i have every worked with. no i am not a DR, i am a patient. i was treated like i have a say, like i was sane not a hypochondriac. i was allowed to be a partner in my own treatment. priceless that's what he is and that is what TCI is.

:) Click to report rating *  10/22/09 2 5 5 He saved me and my three children when others wouldn't pay attention to some of our red-flag symptoms. He is a WEALTH of knowledge in the area of Chiari and related conditions. To top it off, he is kind and compassionate. Dr. Bolognese makes his recommendations and leaves the rest up to the patient and their family. We never felt pressured by him like we did with other neurosurgeons! He was frank about our future, never promising to cure us, only hoping to make life more bearable and hopefully more. He will always be our doctor as we trust no other for our delicate care!

:) Click to report rating *  8/19/09 2 4 5 We have been to several handfuls of neurosurgeons throughout the US and none were anywhere as knowledgeable of Chiari Malformation and Chiari related disorders as Dr. Paolo Bolognese! The only other neurosurgeon we would consider is Dr. John Oro'. Dr. Bolognese understands more about the effects of Chiari on the body than any other neurosurgeon or neurologist making the claim as an alleged Chiari expert.

:) Click to report rating *  3/10/09 5 5 5 Saved my daughter's life...and probably at least 4 others on the same day. If you need him, I am sorry but know you have found the best care possible. If he says you need surgery, you do. This provides a wealth of information, use it and educate yourself. You are an active participant in your care with Dr. B so do your homework. Great staff. This doctor sets the gold standard in every possible way. God bless him and his family.

:) Click to report rating    5/27/08 5 3 5 There is no better doctor than Dr. B in his field, except maybe Dr. Milhorat. From the moment I meet him I knew I had finally found help. He or his staff answered every question asked with confidence. I was in so much distress and had been all over this nation looking for help, I found it in Dr B.

:) Click to report rating    10/30/07 4 4 5 Dr B and TCI are the only group of medical professionals who understand EDS, and its effcts on the brain and spinal cord. For years we went to "the big guy" at the University hospital, the local childrens hospital and others. Not one came close to a correct diagnosis, so they call it psychosomatic to get rid of the patient. They should be ashamed of themselves, and start reading medical text or actually going to get their education credits, rather than taking a vaction.

:) Click to report rating    4/3/07 5 4 dr bolognese is an extremely knowledgeable man. He is trying to help me get a better quality of life. Him and his team. I thank him so much. If he gets an email from me at night it gets returned by morning, with a helpful answer or solution to my problem. I have had three surgeries with dr bolognese decomopression, detethering, and fusion and he told me from the time I had my initial consult what to expect and every surgery what to expect and it was all truth.

:( Click to report rating    3/25/07 3 1 Unfortunately this physician and the group at the Chiari Institute claimed my daughter had a variant of Ehlers Danlos and went on to do a fusion of her neck and a decompression. She has suffered great pain from this intervention and we are stuck. We were desperate to have a diagnosis for our child, unfortunately we did not listen to the mainstream neurosurgeons and tried the "alternative" therapy that this institute delivers. I know realize that the treatment is not mainstream neurosurgery. Sometimes this is good in medicine but no studies have been done to show that the operation my child had was better than other therapies. Any parent or young adult with an unconventional "Chiari" in their family - stay away from this aggressive surgery - "Fusion in extraction" and cutting of the filum.

:) Click to report rating    3/23/07 4 5 Dr. B. is not only a genius, searching until he found out what was wrong with me, when nearly 100 other docs ALL missed it, he is also a very kind, patient, a sweet human being. If only more docs would treat their patients with the compassion, and level of care that he does. Trained by Dr. Milhorat himself, what could anyone expect? The team at TCI is top-notch, and I've been all over the place looking for those answers, found them finally in New York, God Bless those folks! I also have never laughed so hard with ANY doc, ever. He is funny, funny, funny. A hidden national treasure in my book. America is dang lucky to have him here. Luv you Dr. B, Julie

:) Click to report rating *  1/9/07 4 5 Dr. Bolognese is wonderful, he finally put an answer to all my problems and questions. He was very compassionate, and caring. He goes great lengths to explain what Chiari 1 is and how it is treated. I was scheduled for Decompression Surgery on Oct. 27,2006 but, my Insurance Co. denied an out of network surgery. So Dr. Bolognese suggested Dr. Scialabba a doctor in my network who mentored under Dr. M for 6 years. I was very happy with my visit with Dr. Scialabba, I'm now considering the surgery with him. But, my Doctor of choice,if my insurance would allow it is Dr. Bolognese. If your one of the lucky ones who gets to choose your Doctor go to the Chiari Institute you won't be disappointed.

:) Click to report rating    11/6/06 5 5 Wizard of Oz! Dr. B & Dr. M saved my life, marriage, family & integrity! I will never trust another neurosurgeon. Staff are also wonderful. Hospital, great. I do not have any complaints! I rated him 5 on punctuality even though he was late, of course he was late but it's becuae he will not leave an appointment with anyone until all questions are answered! I would wait as long as it took to see him. Dr. Bolognese really is a PERSON. He is not Godlike, as most neurosurgeons seem to be, & I have seen & worked with many. Can't say enough good about him! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

:) Click to report rating    10/22/06 3 4 THEY ARE OK BUT THE INSURANCE DID'T PAY MUCH NOW I'M STUCK 15,000.00 BECAUSE DR. B AND THE OTHERS WON'T ACCEPT WHAT THE INSURANCE PAID. I'M NOT WELL NO JOB AND YES THEY WERE WONDERFUL

:) Click to report rating    10/20/06 4 5 I brought my sister to Dr. B. after 2 neurosurgeons and multiple neurologists said she needed nothing done. Two major surgeries later, he has given her a life back! For Dr. B. and Dr. Milhorat, we would travel anywhere and pay anything to see them. How can you put a price on your life? They are just that good! They may not be on time, but only because they take their time. If you have a Chiari or know someone who does, go to the Chiari Institute. You won't regret it.

:) Click to report rating    10/18/06 5 5 Saved my life. I was misdiagnosed for years and he found the problem and fixed it. He has a cute personality and is the best in his field (along with Dr. Milhorat)! Everyone with Chiari should there. It is worth the travel trouble and wait.

:) Click to report rating    10/18/06 5 5 My son had a rare disorder that went undiagnosed for 6 years even though we'd been all over the U.S. to see doctors. Dr. Bolognese helped my son regain his ability to function for the first time in years. He literally gave him his life back. He is always helpful. He answers questions promptly. He gives more of his time and himself than any other doctor we've seen in 6 years.

:) Click to report rating    10/18/06 4 5 I had been dismissed by other NSG's with my chiari, and Dr Bolognese, and his staff of neurologists found out what was wrong with me, and I had decompression surgery with extraction fusion in April. I think he is the best.

:) Click to report rating    10/18/06 3 5 I've had mysterious symptoms for years (headache, sore throat, muscle pain, fatigue) and have gone from doctor to doctor. No one could diagnose my problem - Chiari Malformation. Even an expert at Johns Hopkins said there was nothing wrong with me. I hesitated about making the trip to NY (costs) but am SO glad I did. I got my diagnosis and suddenly all of my local doctors started taking me seriously (it's frustrating when your pcp sends you home with ibuprofen for a chiari headache!). If it were not for this man, I'd be in a wheel chair by now - and I also could have never made it through a pregnancy. I literally OWE it to him (and Dr. Milhorat) that I have my son. Thank you Dr. B.

:) Click to report rating *  10/18/06 4 5 I cannot say enough about this man. He gives and gives till one wonders if he has anything left and yet he always does. One of the most knowledgeable in his field, (the other being the head doc; Dr. Milhorat) his cutting edge technology places him years above the rest in the world. Caring, compassionate and even manages somehow to find the time to answer his emails. That's right folks, this guy will answer your email.... He is awesome!! The only reason he doesn't rate a five in punctuality is because he doesn't leave until he knows you are completely satisfied with his answers and explanations and that just probably will cause a delay in the next patient there to see him. :)

:) Click to report rating    10/18/06 4 5 Dr. B is the most understanding and caring doctor I have ever meet. I have I seen a lot of doctors in my 28 years, trying to find out what was wrong with me. Do does everyting he can to help you. He may not always be on time for your appointment but that is because he never rushes. He takes his time to talk to you. He is very busy because he is the most wonderful doctor in the world. I don't know what I would have done had I not met him. He saved my life. I can walk because of him!!

:) Click to report rating    8/9/06 5 5 Dr. B is the greatest. I was able to regain my life back because of his Chiari knowledge. He has a great sense of humor. Not too many doctor can joke around and then be serious like he is. I feel blessed to have met him and have him diagnose and perform surgery on me.

:) Click to report rating    4/12/06 5 5 This man is truly amazing, and I can't echo the other comments enough. He is WELL worth the 700 mile commute. He figured out what was causing all of my symptoms, when all of the local "doctors" said it was just depression. I owe my life to him. We love you Dr. B.!!!! :)

:) Click to report rating    4/10/06 5 5 Dr. Bolognese is the best Chiari neurosurgeon in the world. He truly understands and anticipates all the nouances of Chiari-related problems, and he listens to and understands his patients. :) Click to report rating    4/7/06 5 5 You Rock Dr B!!!!! There is not enough room here to tell all about this marvelous human being, that just so happens to be a physican too. He is the role model for all doctors, with the acception of 3 of his co-workers...Dr Milhorant, Dr Kula and Denise, their PA. He is the epitomy of physicans.... He LISTENS to you, he supports you in anyway possible. If you change your rating number to the highest possible would not be enough to rate this dedicated man. You saved my life. I nominate you for the Pulitzer Prize!!!

:) Click to report rating *  2/23/06 5 5 Dr Bolognese is the most kind and most wonderful doctor and surgeon that you will ever meet. He goes way beyond what any doctor probably should do. He dedicates the majority of his waking hours (and probably sleeping too) to his patients and their problems. This man saved my life. He surgically corrected what 7 other nuero surgeons said I didn't have. I can now walk and function like a real person. I owe my life to him. He is always there for his patients - he even answers emails. He has been known to divert from his disney vacation with his family to see patients that could not come to see him. People come from all over the country to see Dr B, we are so lucky to have him here in NY.
