We have been with Barra for 14 yrs. He delivered my son.Wonderful baby Dr. Very difficult to get in if you are not pregnant.Have resorted to the clinic most of the time, since the changes in his practice and his change of hrs. On the ball for the entire family. Just very hard to get into see him.

I have always been extremely comfortable with Barra and through all the difficult times my children have had, he was the one who was rock solid in his support, his caring and his spot-on diagnosis. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking for a doctor!

My previous post was up for a very long time and subsequently erased, interestingly enough. I and another family I know have both had very bad experiences with this doctor & both have found much better doctors who listen and take us seriously. He was our doctor for a number of years & we kept giving him chances when he made some very major mistakes, but finally it got to the point where one of our family members needed a specialist & to be in the hospital despite him writing things off as nothing. Go with your instinct and find a doctor who will listen when you know something is not right.

My wife & I have 10 years with Barra. 3 kids delivered. Solid, solid doctor and a nice guy too.

Dr. O'Briain is fantastic! He was my doctor since the age of 16 until I moved to Toronto a few years ago. I moved back to Vancouver when I got pregnant just so that he could deliver my baby. I thought I would never be comfortable with a male doctor (esp. as a teenager) but he is the MOST professional and caring doctor I have had. No one in Toronto could even compare, not even my fancy OB.

I would recommend Dr. O'Briain to anyone. He is personable, listens, helpful and professional. Definitely my favourite doctor of any I've seen in my life. I feel lucky to have him as my family doc.

I had Dr. O'Briain for years as a youth to young adult (before moving away from Van). He was an excellent support to me as a troubled teen and effectively saved my life with persistent follow through on an unexpected disease. Over the years he's gotten so busy that time can be an issue - but it's worth it. Wish I could find a doctor that comes close in Toronto.

My wife and I were new to Vancouver and didn't have a family doctor for our first baby boy. We were assigned to Dr. O'Briain at Women's and got along well so we asked him to be our family doctor. Luckily he had space in his clinic for us and agreed. He's very good with both my wife post-partum and with our son. Before answering our questions, he always listen's carefully to us and considers our wishes in raising our boy. I highly recommend Dr. O'Brian and am happy that we will be raising our family with him as our doctor.

Helpful, good listener and is open to suggestions which is rare in a doctor. He could use some new staff in the front though. I really dislike calling for an appointment.

I have him as a baby doctor at b.c womens and so far i like him! I don't really like that lady that works the office shes always kinda ****y but thats not his fault!

He was my doctor by chance after a terrible experience with another doctor he took pity and took me on! Thank you so much for the fabulous care and the fantastic outcome. Our third child was happy healthy and early. Wish we had him for the first two babies!

Almost always waited half an hour. Very slow. Disorganized. Quite forgetful. Missed a serious diagnosis after many months. Did go to the hospital though. Never felt comfortable in his ability. Possibly a good baby doctor. Moved on to an excellent doctor.

Excellent doc, v. responsive to my deep need for discussion/information. Very proactive on prevention. Understands menopausal women's concerns. Good sense of humour, too.

He was with me all the way through my pregnancy with child number 3, missed the delivery, but that is to be expected. IF I were to have another baby - I would love it if he would see us again.
