30/04/14 5 5 5 5 I have been a pt of Dr. V. Chichak for over 12 years. I know that he is the best Doctor out there and he does care about his pt's. Yes he is old school, he loves his blood work and other tests. He also has a list of other Doctors that he uses to get to the root of the problems. I have seen Doctor Chichak get tests, like MRI's and CT's booked in no time. If you want your hand held and be treated like a baby. Then you should go the UofA as they treat Peds. You know that the best Doctors do not have the best bedside menders. I know not there to be treated like a baby. He gets does to the problem and fixes it. You know that he does care about his pt's. He one of the only Doctors that will see his pt's in the Hospital. He will only talk to the pt about what is going on. His staff go out of their way to help the pt. I have no bad words to say. He is the BEST in the city and does not take any**** from anyone.

16/09/13 1 5 1 1 This man is supposed to be an internal medicine specialist - as in, look at the whole list of symptoms and find the root cause. I walked in, he rushed through my explanation of my symptoms, and did one set of blood work. When it came back good, that was it. No more follow up. We all know that just because a few blood tests are good, that doesn't mean something isn't wrong. He had no interest in new symptoms that I had developed and seemed to think he had done his duty with his one measly blood test. This is the most un-thorough doctor anyone could get. Words cannot express my disappointment with this man. He should have his license revoked.  Respond

22/09/12 5 5 5 5 He is a great doctor!! I was referred to him by my medicentre doctor. He is witty and really knowledgeable.. He makes you feel at ease and really listens well when you talk about what seems to be ailing you. He is really thorough and made me go have my blood tests to really figure out what's wrong with me.

21/09/10 5 5 5 5 Incredibly smart doctor. At my apt he didn't seem approchable, but he's very friendly. He's very quick, asks all the questions he needs to, then explains his plan, and what you are to do. He then asks if you have questions. Best appointment I was ever at!  Respond

07/07/08 5 3 1 1 He was a referral from my family doctor, which gave me reason to think he would explain in clear language what was causing my illness. He spent less than 10 minutes with me, said he would provide a write up to my family doctor, who would explain his diagnosis. Why wouldn't he take the time to discuss his diagnosis with me? I wonder if my family doctor knows how he treats referrals?  Respond

13/06/08 3 3 1 4 This doctor is a big megalomaniac....he talks in very derogatory ways about his patients when they are not around and generally does not give a damn what happens to them. His 'care and concern' are emotions that are as fake as a three-dollar-bill. He is extremely insincere and we who have worked around him, know what a phony he really is. He pushes drugs on patients that will get him the perks from the drug comany reps. More often than not, he considers his patients as nothing more than walking dollar signs. Patients who 'like' him, are usually the ones that are too trusing and don't see the great acting job he does. While he tries to pretend to be warm to some of his patients, he is actually a very cold, nasty and self-serving individual. Those of us who have worked with the man, can guarantee that he is not what he seems.  See Responses

07/08/07 1 3 1 1 Showed no empathy, cold, distant, didn't smile once, didn't try to make me feel at ease, couldn't spare the time to answer more than one question. He made me feel uncomfortable.  Respond

19/06/07 5 5 5 I have worked with this doctor, and many others. He is brilliant. He doesn't tolerate ineffiency or stupidity. If you see that as arrogant, that's your problem. Best internist in the city of Edmonton. When other internists are stumped, they ask Dr. Chichak's opinion.  Respond

10/04/07 1 1 1 Dr.Chichak is without a doubt the worst doctor that I have had contact with. We tried for three weeks to catch up to him. He wouldn't return phone calls. My mother had blood pressures like a yo-yo. She went from 210 to 80 on a daily basis. We questioned the dosage and frequency of administration of Altace. We questioned the nursing staff and got no response from Dr Chichak. My mother had a number of mini-strokes during this period. We were finally able to get her transferred to another doctor. The new doctor immediately changed the dosage and frequency and added two more drugs. Her blood pressure is now very well controlled, but maybe too late. This doctor shouldn't be practising medicine.  See Responses

26/03/07 2 1 1 The last poster stated he was an excellent diagnostician. That may well be, but a robot could be called that as well. This doctor is cold, uncommunitive, obstreperous, stubborn, and feels he knows everything. He wouldn't listen to what I had to say, wouldn't return phone calls, gave no choice in treatments, and talked to me as if I was a child. He is good doctor if you don't argue with him; just be the good little patient because he knows best, but if you should dare to question his diagnosis, then the storm clouds come over his face and he gets angry. I think he only treats the elderly because he knows they're too afraid to question him.  Respond

26/03/07 5 5 5 Dr. Chichak is one of, if not the best, doctors I've had the privilege of dealing with in my lifetime. He was able to solve a problem in one visit that the five doctors I'd visited before him had grossly mistreated or simply shrugged off. He is not only extremely intelligent but has an amazing knack for making the right diagnosis the first time, something that I have found most other doctors to fail miserably at. He is always accurate and precise in his treatment and diagnosis and has been one of the only doctors interested in helping me rather than most who seem to just want to shrug at me and send me to another doctor without being treated. Dr. Chichak has always come through for me when I've needed him, with great care, understanding and impeccable treatment.  Respond

23/03/07 5 5 5 Dr. Chichak is one of the best doctors I have ever seen. He is caring and compassionate and wants his patients to get well and stay well. I have been seeing him for almost ten years and he has never made me feel less than important. He ensured that I was properly cared for when I was delivering my child as a high risk pregnancy and he was the first doctor at my bedside the next day to see how I was feeling. I appreciate that he makes it easy for any paper work to be completed and always treats me with respect and courtesy. It is a pleasure to have him as my doctor. Thank you Dr. Chichak!!  Respond

17/03/07 1 1 1 Dr. Chichak's bedside manner is as terrible as his treatment of staff and coworkers. He is arrogant. The hospitals and physicians in the region would rather compromise patient care making patients wait until another physician is on call instead of dealing with his arrogance and indifference. It is time the college told Dr. Chichak his behaviour compromises patient care and is UNACCEPTABLE!  See Responses

14/01/07 4 1 1 This fellow was definitely old school, wearing a lab coat, looking down his nose at me. He merely grunted when I asked him questions. He asked me two questions, "Why did I open the blinds?" and "Any abdominal pain?". He must have spent at least 5 minutes with me. He was gruff, unconcerned, uncaring, not interested, and with the bedside manner of a rock. Thank God I was only there because my surgeon wanted his opinion. He wouldn't even tell me what he was writing to the surgeon. I couldn't wait to get out of there.  See Responses
