I was referred to dr thomas for a routine pap and I found the receptionist to be rude, but thats not the worst part' dr thomas gave me a childrens bed sheet to cover myself instead of the usual paper sheet! The "beauty and the beast" sheet was clearly worn. My first inpression was that she is not very sanitary! I got up and put my clothes back on and asked her to give me a precription for the birth control patch and her and her mother told me I could not afford the patch.. I am covered 100% through my husbands work but they did not care to ask, they were just quick to judge. I will never go back to dr thomas! I have to now go to the sexual health center because my family doctor will not do paps and will not refer me to any other doctors. What is wrong with health care these days?? I would rather pay for my health care and be able to choose my doctors and be satisfied not humiliated! I would NOT RECOMMEND DR THOMAS TO ANYONE!!

I use to be a patient of Dr. Thomas...thank God I was able to start seeing my husbands Dr. Dr. Thomas has the WORST bedside manner of any Dr I have ever seen. At first I thought maybe it was just me...but now that I see all the bad reviews on here, I know it's not just me. I feel so bad for anyone that is her patient and can not find another Dr.

Take a look at her wall with pictures of all the children she has delivered. My daughter is one of them. She was not overly pleasant but she was helpful and caring and knowledgable.I did not have a bad experience with her but her staff (at the time)were rude, cranky, ****es. If you dont like your job. Get another one and do literally hundreds of people a favor.

Dr. Thomas has extremely bad bedside manner. I saw her for a pap test & when she found out my husband & I were trying to conceive she told me I'd get pregnant very quickly if I lost weight & we quit trying so hard. She knew nothing/asked nothing about my history so she had no clue if there was anything preventing us from getting pregnant. She harped on my weight several times, was very cold & inconsiderate & seemed to rush through the appointment. In a time when a lot of women are putting off paps & not seeing doctors because they're ashamed about their weight or something else, she cannot be helping the situation. Thank gosh she is not my family doctor or I certainly would never go see her...& that's really really sad, because in a city where family doctors are hard to come by, to not feel like you can go see your doctor for fear of embarrassment or ridicule, is ridiculous...& doctors such as this should be ashamed.

She is still my Dr. and I hate seeing her! She put me on birth control after she knew I had a clotting problem- it gave me a traveling clot and a Dr. at the ER caught it just in time. She called me a liar when I told her I was not sexually active until I got married. When I told her I did not want the flu shot, she yelled at me and said that was foolish and asked why I had a Dr. if I thought I knew more? I was so intimidated I let her give me the shot and left so discouraged! I just found out I am pregnant and am NOT going to her! She did not answer any of my questions any time I was in to see her- just always brought up birth control. Her fix for everything!

I am really surprised to hear so many people focus on Dr. Thomas' feelings towards weight gain during pregnancy. I gained 50 Lbs during my pregnancy and she never had a single concern about it. I agree that she may be direct, but I respect that in someone looking after my health and did not find it to be rude. I saw her on several occasions at the Prenatal Clinic and she delivered my son. The only negative thing I can say about her is that internal exams were more painful when she performed them compared to other doctors, but it was still minor.

I had Dr. Thomas at the clinic. I had here twice in a row and was very scared cause I had heard horrible things about her, BUT I thought she was great! She is very to the point but does have a sense of humor...you just have to know how to take it. She is rough with her enternal exams...I will agree with that one. I heard she doesn't like when people gain weight or are overweight. I have gained about 50 pounds in my pregnancy and she didn't say anything to me about it. I wouldn't mind if she delivered the baby, I feel she is someone I can trust.

I had Dr Thomas for the delivery of my baby, she was awesome. I had her at the clinic a few times and did not care for her as she was not helpful there, but during delivery she was awesome. I had hoped and prayed that I would not have her for delivery but she was there and God knew that I needed her for my delivery. This was my first baby and she came very fast so I could not get any medication to help with any pain. Dr Thomas was there and helped me through it all, I know that God helped me change my view of her as my view of her from the times at the clinic was not good at all. She explained everything to me as I was having my baby and when she was born she had to go to NICU as she took in to much fluid and Dr Thomas reasured me everything was going to be OK. Dr Thomas is great in the delivery room and if I ever have another I would want her to be there. In the clinic or office we need to realize maybe she was up all night delivering babies and just needs some sleep.

Dr Thomas is very direct and to the point and this is sometimes viewed by others as rude, this is the polar opposite of what she is. She is kind and proffessional and "tells it like it is" I personally would rather a doctor that tells me the truth rather than sugar coating things. She has a great sense of humour that could be better described as dry but far from rude. I think her level of care is excellent and I am very upset when I read the nasty comments that some people have wrote. Bottom line.....It is her job to be honest and direct and for all of you "SUPER SENSITIVE" people out there.... grow up and learn to listen to her under lying message rather than the means in which it was delivered. I hope more people take the time to post positive feedback about her so more people are not mislead into thinking she is anything less than Fantastic!

Thankfully I no longer go to Dr. Thomas, I have since moved. I found her very abrupt, rude, and basically thought she was better than everyone. Not much eye contact. She told me I needed to lose weight (my weight was about 115 lbs), and to exercise more. She misdiagnosed a yeast infection for herpes, which was very devastating to say the least. I would never recommend this dr. to anyone. I found her very judgemental, and I always left her office with a horrible feeling.

I go to the Clinic at St Joe's and have had Dr Thomas now 3 times. My last appointment was the worst, I felt like I was treated like an animal. The nurse was very nice and when she measured my stomach I was measuring 42 weeks. But when Dr Thomas came in dressed in a business suit and 4 inch heels she did not ask she told me lay down like I was a dog, put my chart on the table came over and put her hands on my stomach and said the baby is a football not going to be anytime soon, put her initial on my chart and walked out the door. My husband looked at me and said that was a waste of time. You would think that as far along as I am there would be an internal but I guess I really do not want her to do it from what I see on this site. She is not helpful, she needs to learn that we are not just her $ sign we are humans and we want to be treated like one. I pray now that she is NOT there for my next appointment if I make it that far and that she is not there for the delivery my baby.

Glad to see I'm not alone in my feelings for Dr. Thomas. Shortly after I moved to St. John I became pregnant & found no doctors available to see me - Dr. Thomas was my only choice. I find her very incompetent (I've worked in the medical profession, & I have no problem with saying she is the worst "professional" I have ever dealt with). Not only is she incompetent, but her staff (or lack thereof, considering she had no nurse - which I find odd - only a secretary) is as well. After I moved, I requested my med records be transferred to my new doc, they got "lost" in the mail and when I called on it, they had made no copies of the records (Dr. office here was absolutely shocked no copies were made). My son had to get all new immunizations thanks to this mishap. This Dr. has no bedside manner, which in itself wouldn't be that bad if she was otherwise with it, but not so. I recommend seeking help elsewhere! She gives BAD advice & doesn't check symptoms! Better served at the local ER :(

Dr. Thomas should not be a doctor. Everything everyone says about her is true. And the people being nice are probably her friends. She is rude, and does not know what the hell she is talking about. She told me the samething about not to drink anything when I was 7 months pregnant. And she treated me like a cow. When she gave a pap, she made me bleed for 4 days. She yelled at me the whole time when I was in labour. I hate what she did to me and how she treated me. I am planning to have more children and if I see her face walk in because she was on call. She will get a rude awaken to get the hell out of my face!

I saw her at the prenatal clinic, and from the first visit prayed she wasn't on call at my delivery. Unfortunatly she was there for both of my deliveries:(. She is obsessed with weight, and openly tells you are gaining to much weight. She doesn't have a very good bedside manner, and is extremly rough during internals. Does she wear really big rings, or does she need to cut her nails? I'm glad she isn't my family Dr.

Dr. Thomas has been my family doctor for the past 11 years, and has now delivered both of my children. I think she is absolutely fantastic! She may be abrupt and to the point, but she is very knowledgeable and very helpful. When I was in the hospital after the delivery of both of my children, she came in to the hospital each day I as there and examined both me and my children. I don't know too many doctors that provide that level of service. Whenever I call for an appointment, she finds a way to fit us in right away and we rarely have a long wait in the waiting room. As for everyone elses comments regarding her attitude towards patients being overweight - THAT IS HER JOB!!!!! She is a doctor and it is unhealthy to be overweight. It is her job to make her patients aware of the risks of being over weight and to let her patients know when they have reached an unhealthy weight!

I had Dr Thomas while pregnant for my first baby. It was an awful experience. She was not friendly at all, she spent no time to answer any questions that I had, I was constantly rushed out of her office. She just told me that I gained too much weight and to stop drinking water. I consider that bad advice to a pregnant woman!!

Dr. Thomas should not be practicing! While 38 weeks pregnant with my first child, I meet with her through the women's clinic. I had met several other of the on-call doctors, and thought they were great... Dr. Thomas though left me in tears. After feeling my abdomen for the placement of my baby's head, and pronouncing, matter of factly, that 'baby's head is too big, you will need c-section, baby is not coming out'(which was totally untrue! I delivered naturally with no issues, and my daughter's head was of average size), she proceeded to berate me on how much weight I had gained (40 lbs at the time, on a 125 lb frame), made me feel totally uncomfortable and uneasy, and absent-mindedly almost started to examine me without a pair of gloves on, before I quickly raised my eyebrows and protested! I left in tears, and vowed that if she was on-call the day I went into labor,I would make my husband turn the car around and head home, labor or no labor.Thankfully, Dr. Brewer delivered!

I went to Dr. Thomas because of severe abdominal pain back a few years ago. Without any urine or blood tests she told me I had an infection and some female thing I never heard tell of and sent me home. Later that evening I was rushed by ambulance to the hospital and had emergency surgey as I was having a tubular pregnancy. Makes one wonder. I have since been going to her for bowel reasons and severe pains in my stomach and sides. She constantly tells me there's nothing wrong. If I could find another Dr...I certainly would. As for the receptionist she used to have...BON VOYAGE & good riddens as her people skills were absolutely horrid.

I went once, and she was out of office, they didn't bother to call. I have no car so I had to hitch a ride from half way across town.Generally though, they're pretty good with wait times. I am overweight, and in week 37 of pregnancy. I have gained 9 and a half pounds so far, and she's really on my case. Most of it is water weight, and baby as I have lost weight other places. She told me from the beginning to LOSE weight. I know I need to lose weight, I'm 200 lbs now, but when you're pregnant is this a good idea? She also told me that I should drink NO fluids because of the water weight. This makes no sense to me, where every site I have found says you should drink water to lose water weight. So I'll not drink anything at all,get my fluids from the food I eat and suffer. She told me I'm doing it to myself. I was 115 when I went with my first child (this is second) and only went back to her for familiarity. She rode my butt about my weight the first pregnancy cuz I gained 10lbs 1 month.

I was in labor for my second child and was already 6 centimeters dialated and she was the on call doctor that night. I kept telling the intern that was looking after me that I wanted the epidural because the pain was unbearable. He called Dr. Thomas at home and she said no to the epidural because she "wanted to see what my cervix was going to do on it's own"!! When she finally decided to let me have the epidural, I was 9 centimeters dialated and when it came time to push, only minutes later, the epidural did not take yet. I felt the whole birth of my 8 lb 12 oz son, except for the stitching afterward because she wanted to see what my cervix was going to do on it's own!! This is not to mention that she has NO bedside manner and was very rude to my husband when my leg slipped out of his arm and off the stirrup. She jammed my leg back in the stirrup and yelled at him to keep my leg there. I will never let this doctor come near me again!!!!!

My fourth child was not gaining weight and i kept telling her and she kept dismissing it long story short she weighed lessa t3 montshs than birth so i went to another doctor with compassion and he sent me to a specialist, i did continue to see dr thomas for me but when she also gave me the run around with third chidl bowel trouble, ended up, encompresis, i put my kids with another dr. and was waithout a doc for 2 years then i got one and that led to the next as the second dr. moved to toronto. She was amazing in labor and delivery, and i owe the birth of my four kids to her and the great staff at the regional but she dropped the ball when it came to my daughters, and if something had of happened wonder who be in trouble, me or her?

She missed diagnosed me 18 years ago. I had gone to see her three times in a week, I was deathly ill. After proceeding to emerg because I was unhappy with her not wanting to help me, I was then hospitalized for 2 weeks and almost flown to Halifax to the IWK until blood tests revealed better numbers. I had Mono and Hepatitis and was really close to needing a liver transplant. Dr. Thomas told me 3 times in a week I had the flu. She will never come near me again!!!!!!! I lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks.

To all the ladies with painful pap tests, try being post menopausal senior. Your hormones are gone and your vaginal wall is thin and dry. She did not seem to use any lubricant or very little and all I know is that it was very painful not to mention getting the culture. I know what you are talking about. My experience is, if that wasn't painful enough, she left that instrument in after the smear was taken, while she did other things like writing in my chart and talking on the phone etc. I felt so degraded especially since she is of the same gender as myself. My real concern is the lack of tests being done. All of us could have early stages of any kind of health problems and none of us would know until it is too late. I have no idea why she is so reluctant because all suggestions are to get tested early for a better outcome. Doctor and patient should always be partners in our health. Thank you

I went to this doctor once and will never go back, the very first appointment I had was cancelled but I was not told until I got there. The receptionist practically blamed me for it! When I did go the second time, it was my first visit ever, she did not know me and frankly didn't care to. She yelled at me because she thought I was there for no reason. You would assume your new doctor might ask you a few questions or weigh you or check you out..NOPE! The only thing she asked was wether I was on the pill..or if I wanted the pill. I will not be back. Both of my sisters still go to her (I'm not sure why) She makes them feel bad about themselves because of their weight and does not listen to any concerns.

I had her as a doctor 4 yrs ago while I was pregnant with my first child. I really feel she is prejudiced against overweight women. She told me I had to loose weight while pregnant. Also I was told I wasn't allowed to drink more than 1 glass of water per day because "unless you are working in construction, outside in the middlke of summer you don't need more than one glass of water per day" this is while pregnant! I also had pregnancy induced hypertention, she had me on 3 blood pressure meds. when we moved and I got another doctor, his first question was, did the same doctor prescribe all these pills? she told me I would have to take them the rest of my life (with no tests preformed) it took almost a year to wean off of them and 3 yrs later still have normal blood pressure. also never got a 6 week checkup after the birth of my baby.perhaps because it was a stillbirth she felt I didn't need one?

1st things 1st..I often wonder how many other women leave the office walking bull-legged and bleeding after a simple pap-smear? I look up to the men pasted on the ceiling praying that this time I won't feel like I need to give myself an epidural before I visit! I know it's just a swab, but it feels like a hack-saw is used to retrieve her sample! As far as her care for childern..excellent..I'd even go as far as saying A-1, but her care for her adult patients is very demeaning. I have struggled with weight issues for years and know I could stand to lose a few lbs, but for her to state the obvious EVERY visit makes me want to eat a whole chocolate cake!! I am a consideralbly lighter than I was a year ago, but it still isn't good enough and I feel like "why did I bother?". When I go visit for any problems I feel I have, I am more-less CrAzY and rushed out in time for her next patient to be ridiculed. I think that's her goal for the day.."Simple patients - Simple service" FYI-I'M NOT SIMPLE

I was new in SJ when I went to see her. She didn't listen to my concerns and didn't diagnostic anything the 3 times that I went to see her. Also the first and only pep test she did to me was the worst thing! She put that thing inside of me with such a force like I was an animal! I was bleading after that for a while! I can't belive it, in a developed country as Canada, how it is posible that the medical system is worst than in the poorest countries!

I just started to see her a few years ago and on the first visit, although I thought her receptionist was mean, Dr. Thomas was wonderful. I visted her a few more times and I will NEVER go back. She doesn't take me seriously, she says my problems are hormonal and will not perform any tests. Everyone is overweight in her books and she ALWAYS makes me feel nervous, stupid, uneducated, and crazy for wanting to have a baby at my age. I'm 32. I left there in tears, other family members have left there in tears. She's mean and she belittles people. My opinion, she should retire because it's clear she's not happy with what she is doing.

where should i start with the horrible service i recieved from this doctor? I could start with the ignorant and intolerable woman that she had hired as a receptionist Or with the horrible care i recieved from dr.thomas herself? On my first check up I had a mole on my back that was actually hurting, when she told me it was only hurting because it was on a bone. she dismissed it and me. The second appt I asked her about a problem with exsessive sweating that had taken alot of courage for me to be able to talk about after years of hiding it, she told me it was because i was fat (5'10" and 150lbs) . I have since found another, more knoweledgeable doctor, who after seeing the mole on my back had it removed IN A DAY. It was found to be a rare condition where the nerves on my back had done something strange (called shwarmis..or something) and I was also diagnosed with Hyperhydrosis. I was lucky to have found a new DR, because she really made me uncomfortable with even seeing another dr.

My husband & I have been going to Dr. T for years, he has complained of blood in his urine and she said it was normal for a man his age, he had a severe case of kidney stones and finally she referred him to a specialist, after suffering for 2 years with them he is finally without pain. I have a weight problem and have tried diets and Curves and to no avail, no testing has ever been offered, she told me my medical problems are all caused from being TOO heavy and I am just told to loose weight, I know I am heavy and have tried so hard to do something about it but nothing works. I eat right and exercise when I can (winter is hard).. if I could change doctors I would, but there is such a shortage it is near to impossible to find another family doctor. Guess the best thing would be to stay well so one doesn't have to go to her only to get my perscriptions renewed.

Dr Thomas is a horrible doctor. I had her for a family doctor for years and never did she truly help me. I had seen her about pain in my hands and shoulders and as a healthy 23 year old man, she told me this pain was from carring my 10 pound son. another 7 years later I listened to this as the pain became more sever. One day she said it was probley just arthritis. I have left her now and gone to a better doctor who help diagnos the Arthritis that is now through my whole body, which has caused great pain over the years and thanks to my new dr is finally getting under control. So thank you Dr Thomas, Thanks for nothing. All you do is hurry your patients in and out. You do not listen nor help them. You also have no PR skills. I would rather go through I life of pain then have to see her again.

My sister was pregnant at 19 and she called Dr. Thomas's recp for an appointment. The recp told my sister that it was not nessasary to see the Dr. Until she was 4 months along. I thought that this was alarming to say the least. My sister being at a young age wopuld be considered higher risk. I told my sister to get a second opinion. She did....thank God....she has RXnegative blood that would have attacked the baby in the womb unless she got a shot.....which she did. She also advised my pregnant 19 year old cousin that because she wasnt married she should get an abortion......Way over the line Doc!

I felt that she did not take my concerns about my children's health very seriously. She never sat down in her office, and I always felt as if she were rushing me out the door. She made me feel about six inches tall.

Sajni Thomas is direct and to the point but very helpful and knowledgeable. Great sense of humour.

I have not gone to the dr's for years b/c of her, I found she was very unfriendly, her receptionist was rude and unprofessional, and being there made me feel VERY uncomfortable. I will NEVER go back there again, and havent in about 4 years!!

I moved to a new province so I no longr see Dr. Thomas, but for the 8 years I live in Saint John I did have her as my family doc. and she delivered both of my children. I would still have her as our family physician if we could. She is a great doctor.
