:( Click to report rating    11/19/08 2 1 1 Dr. Butler, is known as Dr. Doolittle in this particular family. So much did he fail us, we shifted to another town for the continuation of our father's treatment. More to come in the detailed report being compiled and sent to the appropriate Medical Association. As for the other comments posted on here with regards to his inappropriate sexual remarks/inuendos and general interest in his female patients, this is his general reputation amongst many residents of the GFW area, so I am not at all surprised to see it written here. Where there is smoke there is fire. Dr. Doolittle's ego is much bigger than his ability to provide proper primary health care and he shall be made accountable for his actions and/or lack thereof. Just a matter of time. Central NL residents beware, and dont stay quiet about anything you know to be negligent or inappropriate. You have the right to speak out.

:) Click to report rating    8/22/08 5 5 5 I have seen Dr. Butler on several occassions over the years. He is thorough, mannerly, and has a great sense of humor. Recently I have required home visits due to injury and he has always been professional with me. I can't say enough about Dr. Butler. I am glad he is my GP.

:) Click to report rating *  9/24/07 5 4 5 Dr. Butler was my Doctor for approximately 7 years. I am pleased to see the positive remarks here but surprised by the negative. Dr. Butler is a good doctor, a good man, and a good friend. I did change to another doctor, but mainly because of wanting to see the same doctor as my spouse in the same area nearer my home. It is unfortunate that he doesn't have the conversational style to appear self confident and/or highly informed and to bolster pastient confidence. A few minor impediments in eyesight and speech add to this problem.

:) Click to report rating    8/7/07 5 5 5 Dr Butler has been our family doctor for approximately 20 years. I have nothing negative to say about this wonderful, and friendly doctor who will even make house calls. I hope he is around for another 20 years.

:( Click to report rating    4/28/07 3 2 i am a current patient of the "good" doctor. i have a severe back injury and am in a great deal of pain all the time. i have seen several specialists and all have concurred that i will be on pain medication for the duration of my life. i have also been diagonosed with hep-c. in the begining ,hte doc was very helpful, finding a medication to help cope with the intense pain. but as of late, i can't even discuss a medication adjustment when a specialist sent a referral letter back stating that my meds were wearing off to quick and that an increase was needed to maximize the pain releif. the doctor told me that he was not "comfortable" raising my medication the the appropriate level. he also said that i should have a major surgury so that my pain will be aleviated. every doctor that i have talked to has said that i would have pain for the rest of my life and that pain medication would be necessary. also some of the medications he has tried me on were very bad for my liver. he looks after him

:) Click to report rating    4/16/07 5 5 I have moved here form B.C.and Dr.Butler has been my doctor for the past 5 years. I find him to be a very friendly and outgoing guy.I have absolutely nothing negative to say about him.He has no problem sending you for a second opinion. He is very informative and answers all of my questions. I never leave his office confused with the information he has given me.I personally do not understand why anyone would have anything but the best to say about Dr.Butler.

:( Click to report rating    4/13/07 1 2 Had an appointment with Dr. Butler for 8am at the hospital. I saw him show up at 8:45 and disappear for 20 minutes. Later I saw him walk out to where the patients were seated, look around, and walk back. He did this again, then the last time he walked out and disappeared upstairs. The nurse then returned to me 10 minutes later to tell me Dr. Butler was out looking for me, called my name several times, and could not find me. Not only has he been my family doctor for my ENTIRE LIFE and was unable to recognize me, he never once called my name. Also the fact that when he walked past me the second time, I asked him if he was looking for someone in particular, he gave no response. Im not impressed at all, I haven't any idea why I have been seeing him all these years, his knowledge of medicine seems very limited, and his bedside manner is atrocious.

:) Click to report rating    4/10/07 5 5 H ehas no problem referring to a specialist when he is concerned about a medical issue his patient is dealing with. In addition, he follows through on reports. I believe people may take his friendliness the wrong way, not realizing he is trying to help his patients and guardians relax.

:(      4/9/07 4 2 I had occasion to see this doctor when my own doctor was away and he was the only one available. Although his medical abilities seem to be average his manner of approaching his patients certainly is not. I was shocked with his inappropriate questions and behavior. I have since heard similar stories around town by others who have seen him and discourage any woman from visiting him.

:) Click to report rating    4/6/07 5 5 Have seen Butler on many occasions. He always seemed ready to help and make recommendations. Seemed genuinely interested in my health. He has a fairly negative image around town, but I'm satisfied with him.

:( Click to report rating    4/4/07 1 1 Went to emergency room last summer and Dr. Butler was on duty. I went with a pain in my side and he sent me home with Tonsillitis and 2 hours later I couldn't take the pain, so I went back. A new Doc was on duty and admitted me right away diagnosed me as an Appendicitis patient. The other Doctor told me after surgery that I had probably 6 hours before it ruptured and I was very lucky. I would not ever trust this man with my family or anyone else. Should have his license taken away.

:) Click to report rating    3/29/07 4 4 I think Dr. Bulter is the best doctor, he really takes the time to get to know you, and regards to having appointments else where he gets the sppontments right away.. I would not go to any one else, he watched me through preganacy and birth, he was the excellent, would not trade him for anything..

:(      3/28/07 1 1 I went to emergency a while ago with pains in my side. Dr. Butler was the doctor on duty. When I went into his office and sat down. Instead of asking what my problem was. He asked if I liked Sex. NOT APPROPRIATE. THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH WHY I WAS THERE. I am so sorry I never reported this man when it happened. Makes me think is he making these comments to anyone else. If I ever have to go to emergency again. I will never see this doctor. Is this his way of getting his cheap thrills?????

:( Click to report rating    3/15/07 4 1 Went to see Dr.Butler because of a skin problem. I was told by him that he would send a referral into a dermatologist in St.John's because I could not wait to see one in Grand Falls-Windsor (one year waiting list). I waited about three weeks after seeing him and did not receive a phone call from anyone in St.Johns with an appointment so I called and spoke to Dr. Butler's receptionist. She looked in my file only to see that the request was put through to see a dermatologist in GFW not St.Johns' and that he did not know a dermatologist in there and that I would have to make the arrangements myself. I finally made all the arrangements myself, last I know there was going to be a referral faxed to St.Johns. Have yet received a phone call with an appointment. Very incompetent doctor, would not go see him again if you paid me.

:) Click to report rating    2/7/07 5 5 Excellent Doctor. To those who think he is too personal, my feelings are that his technique is excellent and it actually works in getting information from people and treating them as needed. I would not trade Dr. Butler for all the tea in China. He takes the time to talk and you are so relaxed, that you feel you can certainly confide in him and he will assist you as needed or refer you to other professionals.

:| Click to report rating    12/12/06 4 3 A little TOO personable if you ask me. I brought my son to see him and he was more interested in me then the actual reason why I was there.

:) Click to report rating    12/11/06 5 5 I have dealt with Dr. Butler on numerous occasions. He has helped me through a pregnancy and delivery and has gone out of his way to be there for the birth of my son. He detected a mass growing on my ovary and quickly had that taken care of. He is an excellent physican with a very approachable demeanor. I hope to have Dr. Butler as my family's physician for years to come.
