Mother was in acute care at the Baie Verte Hospital recovering from an hemorrhagic stroke and under the care of Dr. Dewit, he family doctor at the time of her death, she later died of complications from C-difficle. She went for more than two weeks without a diagnosis and died of C-fifficle complications before Dr. Dewit sent her to Grand Falls Hospital to have her diagnosed. Despite the pleas from family members that mother was getting sicker by the day, Dr. Dewit, did not see fit to visit my mother. It is our belief that if mother had been seen to when she was first reported by my sisters, she would have been alive today. He ignored the pleas of my sisters and so did the medical staff at the Baie Verte Hospital until it was too late. I also had difficulty with his receptionist Marion, who felt it was her duty to chastise me for not coming from BC to Nfld to see my mother, so therefore I did not know what I was talking about.

Dr. dewet is the best Dr that happened to Baie Verte. He takes his time with clients that he see everyday. He helped the family when we were dealing with a family with cancer and was on the death bed. One family member phoned from Nova Scotia and asked to speack with him and the nurses put him on the phone. He told them the turth about their family member who was sick. I'm very comforable with him and so is everybody else in our family. The best dr going!!!

Next to Dr. Tatham, Dr. Dewet was the best doctor that Bay D' Espoir ever had. Unfortunately, we can't keep the good ones in our area. Our loss is surely a great gain for someone else. Miss you and your great work.

Great Doctor! Kind, caring and knowledgable. Not afraid to say that he is unsure of something and will send you to whomever he feels is best in the business to care for you. I rated him a "4" in punctually, only because he is so good about taking the time that a patient needs that he sometimes runs late. That cannot be a fault!

He is the best. The only doctor I will see. I've had him for my doctor for years. Also he is my daughters dr. and she won't see another dr. either.

Even though he's run off his feet, he is a really good doctor, takes care of his patience and listens to what's wrong.

Dr. DeWet has been my doctor for 9 1/2 years I fine him to be very helpful, concern and knowledgeable. I think he is one of the BEST!!!

Returned to Newfoundland for a visit in the fall of 2005. Shortly after, I arrived in the ER of BVPHC, Dr. DeWet was the doctor on call. This was the second visit to the ER in one month....the first visit was to an ER room in the US. I walked out of that facility still not knowing the cause of the pain that put me there. Dr. DeWet quickly diagnosed my problem, treated it and had me return for further test. My husband, to this day still tells the story(especiall to the US doctors)... we had to go to Newfoundland to find a doctor from South Africa to diagnose her problem.
