:) Click to report rating *  7/8/09 5 5 5 He's a brilliant diagnostician and amazing family doctor. I appreciate his blunt forthrightness. His diagnostic skills saved my nephew 25 years ago. He is compassionate, caring and professional. When it comes to follow up care with calls or visits he's one of the last old fashioned family doctors. I have confidence in him because he always works hard to keep up with new developments and isn't too proud to look something up in his books at your appointmnent or to get a second opinion when he has any doubts. He definetly doesn't have a God complex at all. He has the common touch with older patients and young children. I'm grateful he is my family's GP. If you have a thin skin or are easy to take offence, you might not find him so great. His humour has an edge and his language can be rough. I don't see him for his social skills! There isn't enough good I can say about Paula.

:) Click to report rating    2/15/08 5 4 5 Thanks to Dr. Carrim my mother lived to be 96. He went above and beyond what anyone would expect to receive in health care. Concern for patient and family was uppermost. He was always very accomodating. Paula is probably the best assistant a doctor could have. Her bright personality and willingness to accomodate appointments on a moments notice will always be remembered by me. Thanks to both. I would recommend Dr. Carrim to anyone looking for a new doctor.

:( Click to report rating    2/10/08 2 4 1 I cannot believe the previous ratings; must be his relatives! Know others who seen him as well adn like me they all left for a new doctor. He is very rude and blunt; which does not work for everyone. He should get to know his patients before taking tht approach. It is part of a physicans responsibility to be kind. he doesn't even pretend he is listening. He contantly looks down at the file. hE IS A CLASSIC "doing this for the money person"....RUDE, RUDE, RUDE, RUDE, RUDE, RUDE, RUDE, RUDE, RUDE.....

:) Click to report rating    8/27/07 5 5 5 This rating is for Paula, I have to say she is the best, There is no words to describe how great she is, I have had my problems with Carrim, dont like some of his words "the ****", I wont go on as he is not worth it even thou no one is perfect, I had to many problems with him and dont trust him one bit. But as for Paula you can get no better, patient, kind, goes out of her way, the best medical receptionist I have ever encountered. Thanks Paula.

:) Click to report rating    7/13/07 5 4 5 He is a great doctor...not for someone who can't take the truth being told as is though. He is very straightforward which I think is great. He had been my sister's doc for years and took me on even though he was 'full'. I never once had a problem with him. At first I was taken aback by how blunt he is, but after I realized that is his manner, everything was fine. I moved to another town and he even called a doctor friend of his to take me on as a patient! I'm sad to not have him as a doctor anymore...he was fantastic...and Paula was great too!

:) Click to report rating    5/10/07 4 5 I give Dr. Carrim a 11 on a scale of 1 - 10! My family has been seeing him for years and are very happy with his caring way. He has also called my home to check on one of my sick children or myself. He took my mother in on a moments notice even though she wasn't a patient of his and continues to see her if she needs a doctor while in St. John's. He is very knowledgable and has always guided us in the right direction with any medical issue. I certainly can say that we are all completely satisfied with our doctor and feel that he does act on the best interest of all of his patients. He is kind, patient and sincere. Paula is just as great and will do everything in her power to accommodate and I've called her on a moments notice with a sick child and no questions asked "bring him/her right in"! Nothing is ever a problem! You guys (Brian and Paula) are excellent people in your medical profession....keep it up!

:) Click to report rating    4/22/07 5 5 Dr.Carrim .Is the Best Doctor out there. When i moved to st.john's and had to find a doctor i couldn't have found a better one then him.I have two girls and wouldn't think of bringing them to another doctor. He cares about his patients and as so much compassion its hard to find a doctor that gives so much has him. When my girls are sick he as called to see how they are doing .How many doctors actually do that?Paula is a sweetheart to ,when my girls have been sick i have called for appointments for them and its come on in with them right away, don't have to wait 2 days or more to see him.I moved back to my home town and its so hard to make an appointment here.I usually pick up the phone call paula tell her i'm coming in to st'johns can i get an appointment and its yes right away.I would not trust my girls with any other doctor completely like i do him.Dr.carrim and paula are the best. For me both are 10's in my book.Hopefully he never retires.Wanted him to move out here but he couldn't .:o(

:| Click to report rating    4/19/07 5 1 Had this doctor when he had a practice in Musgravetown. NL. He since closed that clinic and moved to St. John's, NL. Before he moved some people tried to obtain their medical file so they could transfer it to another doctor in the area. The purpose was so the other doctor could trace your history for possible future diagnosis. He refused to give up the files or even transfer them on your behalf. Consultation with a lawyer would have been required to obtain the files, not sure how many(if any)did it this way, I know we didn't. Not very professional in my opinion, files should have been released without question. Kinda makes you wonder if something was being hidden. Other than this I found him to be very knowledgable and helpful.

Ive been Seeing Dr Carrim since Ive been 12 years old!!(13 years now) He took care of my VERY Ill mother, and made numerous house calls!(not something most Doctors do!) He is by far an amazing Doctor! He goes out of his way to help anyone in need!Including home phone calls on weekends! He is NOT a Pill Pusher, Far from it! I am happy to have him Care for myself and my two little girls, I cannot imagine seeing another DR. Both him and Paula are Fantastic! I agree with most, the only thing I dread is his retirement!

:) Click to report rating    4/12/07 4 5 I first Met Dr Carrim when he was not seeing any new patients and he took me on. It was suppose to initially to be just the curing of my bronchitis but he kept me as a patient. Although I do not agree with everything(that there was a 10.00 charge for doctors notes, and such), I think he is a great doctor. Sets me at ease in any situation including those not so nice female exam. The 1st male doctor I felt comfortable with. With his nurse/secretary being there as well. Both are top notch in my book.

:) Click to report rating    4/9/07 5 5 First, I was shocked to see Dr. Carrim didn't have a full 5 points here. And, after reading these comments, I am floored again... That anyone could have anything negative to say about Brian Carrim! Dr. Carrim is the consummate professional, family man, and an unusually CARING doctor. One of the things I love the most about him is his straightforward manner. My only fear is his retirement, and that he won't be around to take care of my daughter and me forever. Dr. Carrim has called me at home to check on my daughter when she had something as simple as a low-grade fever. He's funny, interesting, personable and genuinely involved in my family's health. He tells it like it is, but there's no ego about him. He'll gladly listen to your opinion and he's eager to learn all there is to know about his ever-changing profession. If he doesn't know the latest, he'll look it up. His assistant, Paula, is AMAZING. I only wish there was more than a 1000 word limit here because I could go on and on and

:) Click to report rating    3/25/07 5 5 The man has the common touch - you can talk to him; if you don't mind the F word. He was my kids doctor in Bonavista Bay when they were growing up and he's still my Doc. There's not much to say, except "simply the best". I wish there were more like him.

:) Click to report rating    3/16/07 5 5 Dr. Carrim is the best doctor ever. He is very caring and genuine. He has called our home to check on family, even on days that he doesn't work. Every time I see him I feel like he knows me and doesn't need to check his chart first. You'll never convince me that there is a more genuine doctor that cares more anywhere in the world. His assistant, Paula, is cut from the same cloth. My biggest concern is that he is older than I am and will retire much too early to see me through my senior years. God love you Dr. Carrim. Our family will always be grateful to have you caring for us.

:) Click to report rating    3/15/07 5 5 The Doc is the best in the city, family has been seeing him for 20+ years now, living on Ontario now and a main reason to move back home would to have him as a doctor for my child

:) Click to report rating    3/15/07 4 5 Are you kidding! Carrim is one of the best doctors I have ever met, and I've met lots of them. He never takes chances with my health, he tries to keep abreast of new medications and treatments, he remains open minded. If I forget to do something for myself, he has been known to call and remind me to do it.

:) Click to report rating    3/14/07 4 5 I have been seeing this doctor for over 20 years. He calls me at home when I'm sick and has even made housecalls. He is excellent. Remember, he is human and can have bad days like the rest of us.

:) Click to report rating    3/13/07 5 5 Great Doctor, very friendly. Been seeing him my whole life and I have never had a bad experience with him. When I go to see him, we always have a friendly chat about current events. He even calls me at home when i'm feeling really sick, just to check on me. Now i'm not getting special treatment because I know that he does this to alot of his pacients. He is a great man. I will always recommend him.

:) Click to report rating    2/2/07 4 5 I absolutely love Dr.Carrim! You really get the feeling that he cares about every single patient. He has a great sense of humor and I would never go to anyone else. I've been his patient now for 6 or seven years, and he took me on even though he was taking anyone else, because I was really sick and a student who wasn't familiar with the city. I'm now pregnant and wouldn't dream of seeing another doctor, even during this special time!

:) Click to report rating    1/22/07 5 5 Based on my experience with Dr. Carrim over the past 10 years, I am lost for words how someone can say that Dr. Barrim is "a pill pusher and someone who only takes time for certain people." I guess this guy had a bad experience - as we can have days which we may be off. Dr. Carrin is by far the best GP I have ever seen in memory. He is on time, keep excellent schedule and ALWAYS make follow up phone calls to your home when required. Thank you Brian for your yeasr of care.

:) Click to report rating    1/21/07 5 5 I LOVE Dr. Carrim!! He is one if the best doctors out there. I went to school in St. John's and, although he was not taking new patients, he took me on! I have been away from St. John's now for almost 6 years but I still talk about him and wish he was in my neck of the woods. He is an excellent Doctor and a wonderful person.

:) Click to report rating    12/12/06 4 5 I have been seeing dr. carrim for quite a few years. I have always found him to be helpful, concerned, and knowledgable. although there may be a short wait in the waiting room, it is not near as long as i have seen with some doctors, and you can usually get an appointment within 24 hours to see him. I have found that when it comes to medications, if he is prescribing anything, he is sure to make sure it is the right thing, and send you for your blood work first. I do, however, find it disconcerting to see a "registered doctor", as denoted by the symbol next to their posting, come in here and rate him so poorly, but hey, the "doctor" is not the one who goes to see him, i am... and i am more than satisfied with him as the doctor for me and my family.

:( Click to report rating *  12/11/06 1 1 I found him to be a pill pusher and someone who only takes time for certain people. I found him not to have time to listen and usually trying to get you out of his office. If you have more than one problem you better make more than one appointment. The only good thing I can say is that if there was a need to see someone else he could (if he want to) get you in within a couple of days. Also you have to wait at least an hour past your scheduled appointment to see him. The language he uses from time to time and comments he makes about people been over weight is disgusting. However I do know people who find him good. This is from many years of experience,

:) Click to report rating    12/11/06 5 5 Just a SUPER doctor. My family and I have been patients for 20 years. He must be (or is close to) the only doctor who calls his patients at home to make sure prescribed medications are working. He is the one who often suggests second opinions and is not a "pill pusher". Over the years, I have visited doctors who have prescription pad in hand before they know what's wrong with you - not Dr. Carrim - I admire that about him. I am also very happy to know that he is very much involved in continuing medical education hence, he keeps himself up to date on the latest happenings in medicine. He is a very hard working and dedicated doctor who cares very deeply about his patients. He never rushes you out the door even though his waiting room is full.
