People need to decide if they're looking for a friend or a knowledgeable doctor. If you want a friend, go elsewhere. BUT if you want a doctor who is no nonsense, get it done, get you better, then Dr. Keeping is your woman. She's been my family doctor for six years now and I wouldn't trade her for the world. She calls personally to check on you, and give you news you've been waiting on. She leaves no stone unturned until you know what your illness is. And when she doesn't know something, she doesn't beat around the bush or lie. I appreciate someone telling me that they're not sure and sending me to someone who knows more. That's responsible health care in my opinion. No one knows everything. So any doctor that acts like they do, is lying. I go to Dr. K. to get diagnosed and get better. Not to waste time chatting and feeling like I have a friend. My friends take care of that.

I agree with every negative comment made.I switched Dr's not by choice but after my previous Dr. stopped practicing. Dr. Keeping is rude, blunt, and uncaring. She has no tact. She often acted like I was wasting her time. I felt like she did not take me seriously. I saw her at one point after being diagnosed with a serious illness after being told by hospital Dr's to see her when I got home. She said,"Well, at least we know what the problem is now" and "Is that all you are here for". When telling her that my heart was racing she did not even check my pulse and ignored this fact. I am currently trying to find another female Dr.situated close to me.

I went to see her on two occasions, one was because I had a problem with my arm and my breathing, and I left with an inhaler. She does not have a very good bedside manner. I was not at all impressed! When you go to see a doctor and there is hardly anyone there to see them, it is a sign that they are not very good!

Dr keeping What a Joke!My Mother who was patient for the last 6yrs Of Hers Was recently told she had terminal cancer. So being the mom of 5 girls we wanted to take care of her at home. But we needed a family doctor to Come to her home maybe Once a week just to make sure That she was getting the proper pain medicine she needed. So my younger sister went And asked her would she come at her convience .She said No she was much to busy for that. She lives about a minute from my Mom.She could drop in on her way home. But she out right said no.We were Stunned & very upset .So we had to call on a Doctor who Knew nothing about my mom.And may I add he was more than glad to do it .So everyone Be aware of her .She has no compassion what so ever .But what goes around comes around. She did not even say she was sorry to hear that mom Was dying. She should of been a clerk in the hospital not a doctor.

This doctor is horible my aunt went to her with a pain in her side one day (just because she was the only doctor that was availble to take her at the time) DR. Keeping told her if she was able to drive over then it must not have been to serious and that according to her "book" it was only gas. My aunt left there and was in that much pain decided to go to the hospetial when she went into emergency she was rushed into the ER to have her appendix removed. The doctors later told her that she was lucky she came in when she did because if she had to wait much longer her appendix would have burst. My aunt also brought me to her when I was about 4 years old because I was after cutting my leg and when it started to heal there was a little lump on my knee and we suspected that there was something in it when we told her the problem she said there was nothing wrong, and it was normal. later that day my aunt took a hot cloth and laid it over my knee and took out a pine needle from a tree.

I saw Dr. Keeping for a short time. At that time, she was the only woman doctor accepting patients. That in of itself should have told me something. to me, a doctor should take an interest in you as a person and understand that medicine is more then symptoms and diseases. I found Dr. Keeping to be condensending, uninterested, bored and at times rude. She never once asked me about my life, and/or my family...as if I was some physical body with no other connections. After waiting for over an hour every single time I came for an appointment (always on time), I figured that she probably sechedules several people for the same time. If she is in this for money, she should have chosen another profession. One that does not deal with people. Dr. Keeping needs to reflect on the "do no harm" part of her ethical code for the practice of medicine.

Our family saw Dr. Keeping when we moved to St. John's from Toronto...she was one of the few doctors taking new paitents - we soon found out why! She was had very cold attitude and treated us (individually) as the sum of our symptoms - once assessed - we were dismissed. When we attempted to get her to treat us as a fmily - she could not understand WHY that would matter to us. We soon found an excellent family doctor! Dr. K. is certainly not worth the extremely long wait to see her. Probably explains why she's usually taking NEW patients.

I did not like this Dr. I felt that she did not take me seriously, which is a terrible thing for a doctor to do. Shows no respect or compassion.

To those who gave Virginia Keeping a good rating - quit while you are ahead. I saw her for two years - she did not do any baseline work at all - no blood pressure checks, etc. I was sick of being asked what "I" wanted her to do and felt that she was more of a referral service. Absolutely no problem with seeing any specialist or getting any test - I would like to see MCP investigate just how many referrals come out of her office. Curtness and rudeness I can put up with if a person is actually knowledgeable and thorough. I would suggest that anyone who continues to see her insist that she go over your file with you each and every time you visit as I was never confident that she knew who I was or what my health issues were.

I've been seeing this Dr. since Dr. Nathwani retired. but I'm not very happy with her. Dr. Keeping seems very uninterested and just wants to get you in and out and send her bill to mcp. No matter what I'm seeing her for, there's never any follow-up. Not a good Doctor.

Dr. Keeping should never be a doctor. She has the personality of a turnip and the compassion of a drill sargeant. My wife went to see her about getting birth control shortly after our son was born. The ever popular Dr. Keeping told her she didn't need birth control as long as our son was breastfeeding. Glad we didn't listen to her. You go in her office it is like a furnace and she has to be organized due to the mess on her desk. She should of chose another profession like egg grader.

I have no complaints about her at all. My fiance and I both loved her. We switched to her from another doctor when we still lived in NL and we stayed with her because she was very polite, quick, and knowlegable. I switched because I hurt my back at work and was on WCB. My last doctor didn't take me serious and I think he believed I only wanted time off work. I was off work for over a month and a half with the other doctor, and when I switched to her, with her help and the exercises she gave me, I was back to working full-time by two weeks. She was very thorough with me, but quick as well so I didn't have to wait to see her too long, and I wasn't in the offic all day. When she gave me pap smears, she also checked my ovaries and breasts which no other doctor has done because I was only in my early twenties at the time so the other doctors didn't see the need, but she listened when I told her breast cancer is common in my family. If I move back there, I will use her again in a heartbeat!

I initually brought my 6 weeks old son to see her after my family doctor could not see him for a week and emergency had ignored my issues. She told me what she thought the problem was and called me personally within a couple hours with an appointment for an ultrasound the next morning. Her first intuintion was correct and my son had surgery the very next day (which I am told is uncommon with the illness due to delay in diagnosis and having to normally rehydrate the infant). She also called personally to follow up a few days later. I will forever be greatful to Dr. Keeping for this. However I do find every visit since then has resulted in LONG wait times and a rushed meeting with her. I normally leave feeling silly and unset that I waited up to 2 hours for a 30 second visit.

When I did have to see virgina I usually felt worst emotionally and physically after ther visit. Thank goodness my husband talked to his doctor and now we both see Dr. Hart.

I have been a patient of Dr. Keepings for several years. The only reason I continue to see her is that I cannot find another doctor taking on new patients. At first, I used to like her, I guess because I did not have to see her often. But, last fall I was having stomach problems for a long time and had to go see her about once a week. Now I find that she does not have any time for me anymore, she is very un-helpful and un-caring and she does make you feel stupid for thinking that there is anything wrong with you. Certainly not worth the hour wait that it usually is to see her.

While her friendliness seems to have improved a little over the past year, I've always found her to be extremely emotionless and stoic. No personality, get in, get done, get out. Never on time, wait at least and hour or more. She's better than some, but most are better.

When I was pregnant this doctor told me that my first ultrasound was good. When I saw the gynecologist she looked at the same ultrasound and discovered there was a problem with my baby as it was written in the report. Either my doctor did not take the time to read the report or just didn't simply tell me. I do not trust this doctor.

I started seeing her when Dr. Nathwani retired. The first visit I had a PAP and she was rough and I found she lacked a personality. Ab****ely no banter. I went back again for a RPS injury I sustained at work. She was rude and she made me feel stupid when I questioned workers comp. She also misgiagnosed me. I'll admit she got a little better after the 8 or 9th visit but I never truly felt comfortable seeing her. I've since switched to Dr. Jackie Elliott who is awesome.

In my opinion,my experience with this Dr. was traumatic to say the least.(myself and my extended family have since switched to Dr.Cyril Riche)I was 20 at the time and suspecting I was pregnant.I told her my symptoms,i.e. swollen,3 wks late, etc. At this point I hadnt taken a pregnancy test - just figured I would get reassurance at the Dr's office 1st. She did a breast exam, not a preg.test, then proceeded to confirm that i was pregnant. Being young at the time, this was not something that was expected. I just sat for a few minutes upset in her office, as I tried to process the information. She just handed me a tissue, didnt speak. I said thank you for your time then called my friend at the front desk to pick me up. She bought a home test that same day which I did and the results were negative. So much for being smart and going to the Dr. to confirm 1st!! This woman has no idea what it takes to be a Dr...and has no idea about compassion!

I am fearly new to the province and i have been seeing her since i returned home 4 yrs ago. She told me i had " the flu " and 2 days later i was in hospital with ammonia and i am still sick 3 weeks later with inhalers i can not use and still she refuses to write a letter to O.K a tank for me to use at home instead of going back and forth to hospital. She never stops long enough to really see how you are feeling and i am now searching for a new doctor who WILL help me

I have been a patient of Dr.Keeping's for many years and to this day I still can't figure out why I keep going back. She dosn't seem to know what she is talking about and reluctant to help with any medical concerns. In order for my child to get referred to a specialist I had to take her to another doctor in the same clinic. Doctor Keeping seems like she dosn't have enough time to spend with her patients, she is always in a rush.

I also found that Dr. Keeping did a lot of asking me what "I" thought the problem was. If I knew, I wouldn't be in the doctor's office. She didn't seem overly concerned when presented with issues. I hurt my shoulder once and I went to see her about it. Didn't get much of an answer, so I returned when the pain still persisted after 1 month and its mobility was becoming limited. She kind of shrugged and said that she could refer me to physio if I thought that would help (but she didn't seem to think it would). The physio said my shoulder had almost been dislocated and it took three months of physio and then a full year before it was back to normal. I switched to Andrew Rossiter - he's awesome.
