She lacks any type of bedside manner. She is more interested in talking about other patients than listening to you. She makes you feel like you are stupid for wasting her time for seeing her. She is quick to get you out of the office without even treating you. She seems to have a real negative issue with men for some reason. I will NEVER go back to this doctor, nor will my family. She brings down the whole doctor profession for everyone else.

Went for MENTAL HEALTH, left when I had a breakdown. She said she WASN'T A DOCTOR, and asked me what my problem was when I went to GET DIAGNOSED. She gave me NO TIME AT ALL to answer her questions; I wanted to get an appointment with a psychiatrist and she wanted to put me in the hospital as suicidal! I may be quiet , but I'm not suicidal - or lower than dirt! She was so mad at my horrified silence, I thought she'd hit me! I went to her only because she was the only doctor left at short notice; no one wants her. Now I know why. Shut up woman, and LISTEN to your patients for a change. Then maybe you'd know 'what our problems are'. I can't imagine what your family must think of you. Or maybe they don't talk to you anymore; not surprising. You shouldn't be a Doctor, you have no right to abuse your patients this way - and stop commenting good things on YOUR OWN PAGE; all your REAL patients know it's the only way you could ever get them. Someone should beat you with your own broom, Witch.

oh my goodness! I'm still shocked. Personally it takes me a bit to go see a doctor, so when I do go then it's serious. And to confide in someone something very serious and to have that person laugh at you and tell you that she does not believe you is a huge slap in the face. I had to hold back the tears. She did not ask any questions to investigate and she couldn't have cared less. She shoveled me out of the office and that was that. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. I cannot believe that she is a doctor. A friend had recommended this site after I had told her about my experience and out of curiousity I came on to find a ton of similar complaints.

I felt violated after having a physical exam with Dr. Rode 2 years ago. She didn't offer me a gown or sheet to cover myself and I had to undress in front of her. She didn't seem to know female anatomy because she touched the wrong places and wasn't even looking where she was touching. She had a look of disgust on her face and complained the whole time. The exam was uncomfortable, incomplete and not done correctly. Not only was I mortified to be exposed on the exam table without a sheet, but at the end she walked out before I could get dressed and left the door open for anyone passing by to see. I started to pursue a formal complaint but changed my mind because there are so few Dr.'s here, but after reading the other comments I realized I should have gone with my instinct. She is obviously still abusive and neglegent and shouldn't be allowed to practice. Not everyone will be as lucky as me to find another Dr. who actually knows what they are doing.

Worst doctor, if that's what you can call her? Very unprofessional. Sent me to a specialist for a scope. Could not explain my results to me?????. Had to go back to specialist to explain.She also talks about other patients and not in a favourable manner. How is this tolerated? Patient privacy??? My time is just as important as hers and I do not want to hear about her personal life. Unbelieveable! Be warned do not make an appointment with this woman. I am so happy to be back in Vancouver with my prior Doctor, who is fantastic!

I saw this Doctor for nearly 2 years. The entire time she was busy flirting with me and telling me about her failed relationships. I left her offices several times feeling like I was counselling her. As for quality of care, I suffered a massive brain injury and triple C-spine fracture in 2006. This doctor offered absolutly no treatment of any kind. When I asked her to sign my disability form for the year I broke my neck in 3 places she grabbed the form from me and started screaming at me that "I have to work like everyone else". I did not ask for a **** to try to kill me and destroy my life. In my life I have never encountered any doctor as bad as this woman. She told me she wants to specialize in dermatology, we can only hope she does so soon so patients do not have to continue to put up with her. See this terrible doctor at your own risk people.

I respect this doctor and feel the negative comments made about her in this forum are in haste. The 10 minute appointment is true but hey look at the upside- you never have a long wait to see her. In my experience, she has been thorough and has dealt with some very serious conditions that I am faced with. She made each referral to specialists promptly. If you want a highly intelligent competent doctor who also has a witty sense of humour then you have found a excellent GP!

Yikes! Thought I was in the Twilight Zone when I saw this doctor. Very strange behaviour for a health care professional. Also, advised me of the 10 min. appointment and ridiculed my symptoms. Thank god I found another doctor!

The only thing worse than having no family doctor is being stuck with this one. I echo many of the complaints in the other messages; told stories about other patients (that walked by the office door), ridiculed my request for certain standard tests, ridiculed my seeing a chiropractor (saying they were not trained, were dangerous and people should only see physiotherapists) and I could go on.

It is shocking that this woman is allowed to practice medicine. She has no idea what she is doing! I went in to tell her I was pregnant and needed an immediate prescription to prevent a 4th miscarriage. She refused to write the prescription because she didn't know anything about my medical condition. I had to refuse to leave her office to get her to phone another doctor and get the information she needed. My Mother went in to request testing for a medical condition that runs in our family, sh was sent home with a blank requisition and told her to find someone who knew what the blood tests were called. I can't get a new doctor so we just go to the walk-in clinic now.

Dr. Rode is very efficient and caring. I have seen her on an urgent basis twice and she was great and she has also treated my son as well to good effect. She is not quick to rx antibiotics which is a nice change from some doctors. Upbeat personality and very courteous. Would see her again without hesitation. Nice person.

I recently developed Mastitis, I am breastfeeding my two month old son. She suggested I quit breastfeeding. I was shocked! She is nice enough, besides that. But not a doctor I would enjoy going back to again.

MORTIFIED. every time I visit is a new adventure. I see this doctor out of sheer desperation, and I was desperate upon finding I was pregnant. She was suggesting I terminate the pregnancy, but went on to say that if she was in my shoes, with a husband, and at the age I am at, that she would keep it. It's an extreme medical faux pas to pass off personal opinion to patients and our entire apt seemed to be about her opinion.would likely miscarry due to the fact that I had some mild cramping. That and she told me that I The last apt I had with her, she came out of the room across the hall with an elderly patient and her daughter, She came into my apt and told me the diagnosis of the woman who just left, that she had a urinary tract infection and that she had kidney distress and that she had 3 months to live. I'm wondering what of my business other patients get to find out about. EXTREMELY funny woman on a personal level, but a horrid doctor

Dr. Rode has a great personality and very quickly set my mind at ease about something I thought could have been quite serious. She is efficient and kind with a very positive attitude and good medical sense. Very happy with her as my doctor - I'm a guy, and usually I prefer to stick to male doctors but Dr. Rode makes you feel at ease.

Some Drs are doctors because it is a job others do it because they love it. I didn't get the impression she loves caring for people. Like everyone else I was rushed in and out at lighting speed. I was sent for blood tests with someone else's requisition. So I had all their private info. She sent me for X-rays instead of an ultrasound. I was told I didn't need a yearly physical, even though I have had cancer in the past. She was going to up my thyroid medication, I'm not on any thyroid medications. She thought that was quite funny. She told me my X-rays showed signs of emphysema but didn't do any other tests to verify this and said we wouldn't do anything because I didn't have any symptoms. At that point I couldn't get out of her office fast enough. If I had known about this site before I never would have gone to her. She behaves like a giddy teenager not a professional.

She is very rushed and needs you out ASAP. Dr. Rode did avoid my whole pap test. The first time I scheduled it with the front desk and then she said that she was not preparred for it so I would have to make another appointment. The second time she did perform it. I got a call a week later and was asked to see her. She had not only performed the pap but also another test which I had not requested. Every since my Dr. retired I have had nothing but bad luck with doctors.

The one and ONLY positive thing about Dr. Rode is that she seems to be on time. This could have to do with the fact that she is always rushing you out of her office! I have to say that she is the worst doctor that I have ever seen. She dosen't have time for you nor does she care about why you are there. She constantly talks about her self and how she would rather be a dermatologist. When I found out I was pregnant the 1st thing she said to me was "at least you are married", then proceeded to say that she dosent "do babies as she dosent want to be up all hours of the night". I would not recommend her to anyone and as a matter of fact I think she is in the wrong profession!

During my meet and greet appointment, she told me that she hoped that all of her patients cancelled the next days appointments, because she didn't feel like working! During my next appointment, I had booked a yearly physical, and was asked on the phone if I wished to have a complete physical or just a pap. I am very adament about having a complete physical because my mother died when she was very young. The only thing that Dr. Rode performed was a pap! When I asked her if she was going to do a breast exam, she said that I am too young and do not need one- I am 26 years old with a history of breast cancer in my family! After my pap, she rushed me out the door and did not leave room for any questions or concerns I might have. I will never see her again.

I saw her twice, both times she didn't know how to deal with my issue and got on the phone to someone within the clinic. When you read other comments you wonder if it's the differences in clients or if Rode has a split personality! I would suggest that if you are a sensitive being or have done any personal growth work, you will be stunned by Rode's lack of self-awareness and compassion, masked by a sunny in-control disposition. Natural healing and patient empowerment are NOT within her realm of understanding,interest or ability.

Great personality, very personable and friendly. Was the first doctor to take the time and make the effort to correctly diagnose and treat a condition I've had for 15 years. Highly recommend her! She also treats my 4 year old son and I'm really impressed with her manner with him and care and time she takes every time we are there.

I saw Dr. Rode for nearly a year, believing that a young doctor from another country deserved a chance to practice here. She was pleasant and we talked often of her difficulty with the English language. So in spite of her "flightiness" I stuck with her. Dr. Rode made a diagnosis and when it was finally proven that it was the wrong one, she lost interest. I kept telling her my symptoms, she kept sending me for x-rays, etc., and to a specialist. The implication was that it was all "in my head." Her greatest concern was that I was taking too much acetaminophen for pain, but never came up with a suitable alternative. Finally, I was sent for a CT scan. The findings from that were the worst possible news one can receive. Dr. Rode kept saying that she was "only a GP" and couldn't be expected to know everything, but a thorough examination of my file, might have given her a clue.

First time I saw her was for my three year old son when we first moved to Nanaimo. She was rude to him and myself and looked at him with disgust. Unfortunately I went back to see her for a pregnancy test. It was positive. I had a couple of drinks during before I found out I was pregnant and she told me that miscarriages happen one out of every three pregnancies and that I may miscarry. I didn't end up miscarrying and saw another doctor throughout my pregnancy. I now have a perfectly healthy baby!! Nice way to start out what should be a happy occasion. I will never see this wench again.

Very unhelpful Dr. I went to her for a recurring issue and she didnt even bother to investigate. Rushed me out the door and told me that she only has 10 minutes. Found another Dr and a simple test got to the root of my issue. I would not recommend her at all.

This doctor makes me uncomfortable. You never know what mood she is going to be in. She has no idea how to do a pap test and I don't feel confident in her medical knowledge. On the first visit she told me she would rather be a dermatologist and as someone else reported she talks more about herself than about the reason for your visit. I would definately not recommend her for male patients as she is very uncomfortable with them and will not do a prostate exam. All and all I find her manner very unprofessional and am trying to find another doctor

I was astonished to hear a Dr tell me that she was only here (in Canada)for the experience (as she couldn't get accepted in her native country - not interested in family med and really wanted to be doing pathology work. She should not be practicing!! she spent most of the visit talking aobut her self and showed little interest in me (a potential ne patient). I will never go back to Dr Rode!!

Dr. Rode's comment when I went for a pap test was that she was "getting better" at them. Yikes, I've heard of practicing medicing, but this is ridiculous. She is reluctant to actually touch or examine a patient and is quick to refer to a specialist. I have very little confidence in her abilities. Since she makes it clear she doesn't like it here, I hope she goes home and I can get another doctor without actually having to look around for one.

Quick and efficiant. First Dr. to get me to go for a long overdue Mamogram. There was no question or debate, just do what she says. (In a nice way.) Just what I needed. Respected her intellegance and kindness. Made both my daughter and myself very comfortable. Been searching for a Dr. for 10 years. Hit the jackpot.

I have been seeing Dr. Rode for over a year and have always found her to be prompt, courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. She will always refer you to a specialist if she's unable to solve your health issues and I feel that we are fortunate to have a doctor of her caliber available to us at a time when it's not always easy to find a family doctor on Vancouver Island.

She tried to give me a pap test but after 10 minutes said it probably wouldn't work. And I got a call a couple of weeks later to get another one.The whole time she kept telling me that she did not want to stay in Canada which is not very reassuring to a patient looking for a new DR.

Depending on her mood, she can be approachable and nice, other times she has been very rude, abrupt and arrogant. After seeing her about a condition, before I left I asked her to check my BP, she snapped at me and said I only see patients for 10 minutes for one condition make another appointment. When I protested she said if I listened to every patients complaints when they came in here I would be here until the evening. Maybe she should change careers. I also think this is an abuse of our medical system.

Dr. Rode is such a friendly and pleasant person to talk to that I wish I wish I had a reason to see her more often. Every appointment I have ever had with her has started precisely on time and she has always been polite and sincere and I trust her advice.

This dr is the worst I have ever come accross, she is rude, does not listen and seems to really dislke her job which transfers to her patients. I am actively seeking another dr, I have never met anyone as disrespectful in this profession. She is also not very knowledgeable from the dealings I have had with her. I would never recommend her to anyone as I am afraid if there was anything seriously wrong it would not get treated properly.

I visited this dr. on 2 separate ocassions and both times she was extremely rude! I considered filing a formal complaint after the second time when she was completely disrespectful of my 13 year old daughter. The first visit I had asked her to do some blood work to investigate some symptoms I was having and she totally minimized my concern and said I was being "ridiculous". The second time she was once again extremely rude and minimized my daughter's concerns and opened the door to the hallway while my daughter was still getting dressed (after a breast exam). People were passing by the doorway and could easily see in to the room. Very unprofessional and lacking in bedside manners!!!!

This Dr. yelled at me for being late and for asking if she had children . She almost wasn't going to see my sick 3 year old because I told that there would not be a next time for us seeing her again. She was mean, rude and seemed like she had emotional problems. I would never see her again ....EVER !!!!!

A very caring and nice doctir. She took the extra time to listen to my complaints and then did the proper tests and referral to specialists. I would highly recommend her. Yes, she has a bubbly personality.

I would not recommend this doctor if she was the last one on the planet.My last appointment with her was the final straw.Her professionalism was clearly lacking,she was horribly opinionated and totally out of bounds with some of her comments.I strongly suggest you take up a new career,because you don,t seem to like your job very much or the town that you are praticing in And please,learn how to do a proper PAP test on us gals.How you graduted from mediacl school is beyond me
