:( Click to report rating *  7/2/09 5 1 1 It's hard to describe my two visits with this doctor. Disturbing. Traumatic. I booked my first physical, then waited over an hour - when I got in, he said he only had a minute or two. He looked through my transferred file in 20 seconds (10 years of records...) said "you're fine". I was actually severely anemic and having muscle cramps, but he refused to examine me. He agreed to do a test, but then ripped the lab paper to shreds in a tantrum when I told him I found his behaviour unsettling. He then accused me of refusing a physical, and I told him the accusation was bizarre. He then began yelling, really nasty stuff. The man behaving in a very disturbed manner, appeared to be enraged by a patient he couldn't intimidate and control. He kept saying over and over "You know I'll need to see you naked..." "You'll have to be examined naked" Just creepy :(

:( Click to report rating *  5/25/09 1 1 1 I have FINALLY switched doctors and accidentely found this website- I definitely DO NOT recommend this doctor. I had been going to him for almost 15 years as well as my family. And aside from the wait time.. the rudeness.. mood swings and general arrogance- he has made a lot of costly mistakes. He refuses to get tests even though there is clear problems, he pesters, and doesn't take the time. It seems the positive comments on this website are coming from those that have been going to him for over twenty years- yes he prefers you, hence why he's still nice to you. The rest of us though have just gotten his wrath. I do not wish to be uncomfortable, yelled at, and in wait for more than two hours for someone that actually, I am PAYING FOR. As well, how creepy is it that he won't send females to a FEMALE doctor for check ups, I remember being a teenager and being VERY uncomfortable. I HATE THIS MAN. And I am SO happy that I have FINALLY found another doctor!!! STAY AWAY FROM HIM IF YOU CAN!

:( Click to report rating    4/16/09 1 1 1 DO NOT GO TO HIM IF YOU VALUE THE LIFE YOU CARRY-he was my family doctor all my life-when it came time to have my first child 11 years ago i asked to be refered to an ob/gyn-his arrogance at having delivered so many babies made him refuse-should have known then!i was almost 2 weeks overdue-inducing kept getting put off because of his personal life commitments-finally go in a few times to get induced-when they finally put me in the high-risk ward for labour the fist thing the nurse said-who is your doc?Dr Zack-oh,don't worry,we'll take care of you-well, 45 hours into it,numerous heart rate drops from the baby, alarms going off, oxygen levels lowering,no dilating for hours, baby head stuck in the canal etc..the Gyn comes in and decides we are not waiting a moment longer-emerg c-section!my baby lived no thanks to him-he was spoken to by the head nurse, dept head...GREED IS A BAD THING-SOME DOCTORS WANT IT ALL-SHOULD EITHER BE GP OR OB NOT BOTH-EVER!!

:) Click to report rating    3/4/09 4 1 5 Always cheerful and friendly. Informs me fully of any test results and advises me accordingly. Takes time with his patients, consequently this results in delays.

:( Click to report rating    2/18/09 1 2 1 Let's put this way: this doctor, if I can call him so, gotta be one of the rudest person I've ever met in my entire life. Today, February 18th, 2009, I had the hope of finally find a doctor, not to mention that the hopes of finding a 'good doctor' are long gone. Mixed feelings apart- because I am still wondering if his rudeness has anything to do racial issues or just an enormous complex of inferiority- this fellow should learn, before even to think of being a doctor, manners and respect for people. Today, this fellow made me wonder why doctors are in the field they have chosen. Sincerely, this doctor came across, more than anything else, as a complete ****. No matters, no feelings, disrespectful. I can't even think about how his other patients- and his staff, can deal with a human being such as that. Please, do yourself a favor: NEVER GO THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

:( Click to report rating    2/14/09 3 1 2 When I was 17, pregnant and scared... Dr Zack was my family dr for years.... he was very supportive and helpful and concerned. When it came down to it he said you are to tiny to have a natural birth and that was from 3mons pregnant and on. When I was 8 months pregnant he told me the baby was going to be very small and ordered me a ultrasound, when i went for the ultrasound the nurse told me the accurate measurements, the baby was 8-9 pnds... way to big as he said to have a natural birth... well they tried anyways Dr Zack hadnt even looked at the ultrasound report, had not idea of really anything...my son almost died because of the ordeal... traumatized me and 12 years later I still haven't had another child since. I would never recommend Dr Zack to my enemy.

:) Click to report rating    4/20/08 5 2 5 Back in 1974 I moved to the city and was looking for a doctor. Dr. Zack was just starting his practice at the clinic with his father, and thus taking new patients, so, as it was reasonably close to where I lived, I decided to see him. It was the best decision I could have made. He has been my doctor ever since, and I would recommend him highly. His wait times can be gruelling, but he is compassionate, caring, knowledgeable, and will take the time necessary to understand you as a whole person, not just an illness. He is honest and forthright, which I appreciate. He is also open-minded and receptive to alternative medicine when he thinks it may be appropriate. He has a great memory for small details, which means to me that he is listening carefully when you talk to him. Even when he is behind schedule, he is attentive, does not give the impression of being stressed, nor does he try to rush you out the door.

:| Click to report rating    3/28/08 5 1 1 He is very knowledgeable, good with children and I trusted him as a doctor so I was willing to put with his cantankerous attitude. However, it is disrespectful to make babies wait in a crowded waiting room for over an hour for their appointment. Sorry. When I heard one of the staff say that he had been on the phone for half an hour while the waiting room filled up with sick people we just left. He also made inappropriate and totally unnecesssary comments about my choice to use a midwife for my child's birth. He also took phone calls that did not seem to be of an urgent nature during my baby's appointment. We won't be going back.

:( Click to report rating    1/16/08 2 1 1 i am looking for a family doctor and i was told that he was accepting new patients ...the office is also 2 blocks away...i waited a month and a half for my appointment... was very excited that i had finally found a doctory after 2 yrs looking but i was in for a rude awakening... i guess he didnt care for the way i looked because after he introduced himself he informed me that he only accepts 10% of new patients...and the next question was "why do you need a family doctor???" ...i was in shock i was not aware that there were perfect people in the world that never had any health problems ...it was obvious that i wasn't going to be accepted...anyways if anyone out there reads this and has any ideas what i can do to find a nice doctor that is not going to judge me on my appearance...email me at eleni.c@shaw.ca as i am running out of options and i have a lot of health problems that arent getting the treatment that they deserve

:) Click to report rating    8/30/07 4 1 4 Wait time is terrible . The Zacks have been our Dr's for 50 years, senior now junior. Only fault is that he is reluctant to give you tests now beacause he has given so many in the past he says they are looking at him.Doesn't like to approve meds over the phone.

:) Click to report rating    6/6/07 1 3 I have found him to be the best Dr. I have had until late. He has been our family doctor for 30 year. He is rude, and abrubt and if you don't do what he tells you to he doesn't show much interest in you or try to find other problems. I'm not sure he has much time for older patients and prefers pediatric medicine. Would I recommend him to a young healthy person, yes. If you have addictions you cannot solve, he can't or won't take the time to counsel you. You can push him for referrals which is your right. He has given my family compasionate care, but he's not perfect. When he's having a good day, your in luck. To wait and 1 1/2 hours for 10 min. is getting trying. I used to think waiting for him was worth it cause if I had a problem he would take the time. Now it's just time waisted for prescription renewals. In all fairness, he is a good Dr. but be prepared for his wait times and bad days.

:) Click to report rating    4/26/07 3 5 Dr. Zack has been my doctor for 20 years. He delivered both my children. He is an awesome doctor. If he isn't 100% sure of something, he will research it and find out. He is straight to the point. The only downfall is the waiting in the waiting room. His new office space has a rather small waiting room, and it gets filled up fast. But when you get into the exam room, I feel like all problems are dealt with. He will be our family doctor for a long time.

:) Click to report rating    4/6/07 2 5 His Father delivered me into the world 40 years ago! When I moved back to Vancouver 18 Years ago I have been a patient of his since. He has even delivered all three of my children. I've tried a few Dr's on the North Shore due to geographical convenience, but ended back at Dr.Zacks. He is the best Doctor by far. You will not find a more knowledgable, thurough, straight forward, honest and professional doctor. Plus someone who can crack you right up. I've never left his office without a good laugh or smile on my face.

:) Click to report rating    4/2/07 2 5 He always takes the time to thoroughly understand all issues. He provides a working relationship with a group of the best specialists available in the lower mainland. We drive in from Langley to Vancouver to see Dr. Zack because we know the level of care provided will be the best and if there is a medical problem, he won't pass it off. He will test and follow up until the issue is resolved. His only fault is he tends to run behind on his scheduled appointments. I have found this is because he is so thorough - if you have a problem he will work with you to solve it rather than rushing you out the door. This is frustrating waiting in the waiting room but most gratifying in the examination room when the extra few minutes are spent with you to make sure your visit is a successful one.

:) Click to report rating    3/19/07 3 5 Since 1968 Dr. Zack Sr. (Dr. Phillip Zack's father) was my doctor. Livng all over two provinces with many doctors I realized I had found a "first class" doctor. When Dr. Zack Jr. joined he filled in when my doctor was away. On Sr's retirement I was turned over to new doctor. Many times I have seen Dr. Phillip Zack when my doctor was away and usually emergency. He has doctored my whole family, and delivered their babies and doctored their families. I have found him as "first class" as his father. Takes time, (reason for having to wait) listens, is decisive and informative, always giving the very best of health care, and referrals to the finest doctors when needed. Although very different in character I would suggest if a patient doesn't follow through, have concern for his own health, looking for magic, wanting the truth candy coated or fussy pampering then you will miss the finest of doctoring.
