My father died of cancer almost two decades ago. Firstly, he was misdiagnosed at The Ottawa Hospital as having gallstones. Based on this misdiagnosis, at 67 years of age, he and my mother decided to sell their home in Ottawa and relocate to Nova Scotia, where my father was born. Within 6 months, he was dead. He did not have gallstones; he had cancer of the gallbladder, which, at that point, as a result of a misdiagnosis, had metastasized to all of his external organs. Because my parents, as my father was dying, were alone in Nova Scotia, my siblings and myself had to relocate them back to Ottawa. While we were attempting to find a suitable apartment for them to live, my father was shuttled between the Civic and General Campuses. While at the General Campus, "Dr." Verma came into the room. My father was to be released from hospital the following morning with, still, nowhere suitable to live. He asked “Dr.” Verma if he could please stay at the General for one more day. "Dr." Verma's response was, "What do you think this is ... a hotel?" I will never forget this as long as I live. My father passed away in the hands of not only complete incompetence, but also a complete absence of humanity. “First, do no harm.” I am assuming you swore to uphold this tenet of the Hippocratic Oath. Firstly, my father suffered horrifically at the hands of his physicians. Lastly, he died after being insulted by his “oncologist”. Shame … Shame on all of you.

Dr. Verma was my oncologist in 1999-2000. I could not have asked for a nicer doctor. He always listened to any concerns/questions I had. He always greeted me with a hug. He also treated my mom and sister with equal care and respect. He treated me for a rare for of breast cancer. The treatments were aggressive but worked.

Had an Epitheliod Sarcoma in 1989. treated me in early 1990, and although the outcome is not usually good, I am still alive today. Beat all the odds and I believe I have him to thank. It was a tough aggressive treatment but worth it!

Very unpredictable. He will either come into your appointment with smiles and a hug, or he will come in a really bad mood where he will be cold to the point of callousness .... and you never know what you are going to get. Half the time you will get a family doctor or General Practioner in Oncology (all of them terrible) instead at your appointment so you can go for a very long time without seeing him. Very good about ordering tests and scans.

Never seems to have "time" for questions during follow-up visits. Very condescending when questions regarding his choice of treatment come up.

First follow up with Dr. Verma. Will be my first out of 2. Never took my vital signs, just continued to argue with me, flattered himself to tell me He is the best. Sorry, not in my books. Needs a personality refreshment course.
