I believe that every doctor has an obligation to his patient, not to the family. At times, a patient choses not to let their loved ones know how serious an illness is, but on the other hand, I feel for families that wish to be present when the patient is told any bad news. Maybe a doctor could shed some light on this for us to understand. I agree that there are ways to try and make some news a little easier to swallow, but neither can digest it when receiving such.
Prior to elaborating this issue occurred in 1980. None the less, this man may still be practicing. As such, it's important that people are aware of his "Lack of humanity stills." Long story short, my father was diagnosed with cancer in 1980, we had asked laquesta not to tell him and taht we would inform him as a family. laquesta didn't listen to our request. Instead, confronted my father and I quote, "You have a growth the size of a cabbage and have three weeks to live. Go home and get your family in order." Graet approach to a terminally ill patient, would you agree? In any case, Laquesta may be retired now...which is a blessing. All the best and thanks again for allowing people a space where voice their concerns.
