Do you know they actually featured him on our local TV as one of the area best Psychs? LOL. He OVERDOSED my son when he was NINE. He gave him 300m of welbutrin and 450m of effexor which I later found out was enough to overdose an adult. This was after me repeatedly telling him that my son wasnt doing well and describing to him what I NOW know were mini- seizures.. I had been tsaking my son NO LESS thsn 2 times per week asking for help and he just kept increasing the meds as his solution- I just followed him as he came highly recommended so I thought he was right- the last day he increased my son had a major seizure and was taken to children's medical center and this so called DOCTOR wouldnt even return the hospital's calls- HE KNOW HE IS HURTING CHILDREN AND DOESNT CARE. I had to homeschool my child for 3 months while he was coming off of all of the drugs Mech had him on- as these two werent even all of them. Also- theses drugs are not even APPROVED for children. DO NOT TAKE YOUR BABIES HIM!!!

My teen daughter went to this "center" for 5 years. They used to use the same procedure code as all the other doctors when you go in for "med mgmt".suddenly they changed and are billing for a diff code so that they got paid THREE TIMES AS MUCH BY INS.and PATIENT. THE PART THAT REALLY GETS MY BLOOD BOILING IS it just asks quest to see if the meds are working, FORM IS REQUIRED TO SEE DOC - SUDDENLY THEY STARTED CHG THE INS CO $125 TO LOOK AT IT AND CODE IT AS 'PSYCH TESTING' Its what ANY DOC ASKS YOU AS PART OF TREATMENT. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO MY INS CO FRAUD DEPARTMENT!!! I was also told to contact the TX medical examiners board of consumer complaints which the phone# is 800-201-9353 AND DONT WASTE any more time going. My daughters NEW DOCTOR changed her meds immediately. Also you dont always see the doc but a nurse practicioner I am sure you pay the same as seeing the doc - THIS GUY IS A RIP OFF MONEY MAKER!

Dr. Mech is very knowledgeable, and I find him a good listener. His treatment so far has been right on the ball. In order to accept insurance company rates, he has designed his building and “process” in order to see his patients in an efficient way. This can feel quite impersonal, and a typical wait is 10 minutes in the outer room and 10 minutes in the inner waiting room; then a further wait as staff process his treatment instructions and paperwork. Usually I am there for around 80 minutes. As reported elsewhere here, his staff are very non-responsive to telephone calls and voicemails. One Thursday I called all day, getting through three times and on each occasion was promised that the relevant person would call back. By 4:30 on the Thursday, the office was unstaffed and they had gone for their usual three day weekend. No-one ever did call me back. I do wonder what would happen to a patient who was close to the edge and received this poor support.

Don't trust this doctor! He is on several pharmaceutical boards getting paid for prescribing all the drugs he prescribes. I waited forever, almost 3 hours once and saw him for 5 minutes! They herd you like cattle, over prescribe dangerous medications most people should not be taking and never return calls! Almost ended up in the emergency room because of all the meds - stay away for your own safety!

Worst doctor ever. Took my son for depression and was put on meds and a dose that only an adult should have had (Zoloft 150Mg). He could not sleep and was loosing weight so they put him on an antipsychotic medication Seroquel to help him sleep. He slept for 18 hours at 1/2 a pill with him going to a whole pill a week later. I took him to 1/8 of a pill and he would still sleep for 12 hours at a time. To resolve this they gave him ProVvigil which is used for narcolepsy to wake him up. So we had meds on top of meds on top of meds... It was a never ending pill fest with his office. Our son ended up in the Hospital because of the meds that Dr. Mech's PAs gave him. At the hospital we met our sons current doctor. He took him off all the meds that Mech had prescribed and he is now only on 1 med. Out son feels great. Dr. Mech is a drug abusers dream come true... I would avoid him at all cost!!!!!

I went to this doctor for 3 years and hated every moment of it. They charge you for no show appointments but if you try to cancel your appointment you can never get a person every option just hangs up on you. The only reason that they are so busy is because they are the only local Psychiatrist that accepts insurance. Everyone else just takes cash. Trust me I have called all of them to find a new doctor. They are very rude to you and they need to work on thier billing.

We used to see this Dr for our son ... he had my son on so many medications he was a walking zombie. We had to send our son out of state to a special school with Dr's who were able to wean my son off all meds. Do an evaluation and determine that our son only needed a med for adhd and at this time he isn't even taking that and is doing really well. I am so sad that there are Dr's like this that do not help the child with their problems and just try to drug the symptoms and mask the problems that really need counseling and other therapy. I am disgusted with this practice and I tell everyone I meet not to see them and what they did to my son. My son was on litium, depakote and abilify and did not need ANY of them!

MOOOOO!!! Thats what we felt like. I agree with all the other patients. How is this man still in business. Rude PA's and insureance problems. We were getting bills from 2 yrs ago, that had already been paid. DO NOT take your child to this man.

I didn't believe the other people here and went to see this doctor. I even gave him a good rating at first. But he turned out just like everyone else said he did. He drugs you up real bad, and doesn't listen. I ended up in the emergency room, and they said to my wife that I should have been in a coma or dead, going by the amount of drugs I had in me. Trust me, this guy is bad news, and the sad thing is, that Bush made it impossible to sue people like this in Texas. This site is a blessing. Be wise and use it, for the sake of your health and your families. Some doctors are dangerous, this is one of them. Don't say you read this and wasn't aware of what goes on at his office.

This is the worlds greatest psychiatrist to me. It is true that he uses PAs, and at one time I thought that was bad also. But his are well trained and know more than all the other psychiatrists I've ever seen. I would give him a special mention on my blog, but my blog is totally about bad doctors and hospitals mainly, and if I gave him a great mention, he might get associated with me. He found things wrong with me, that doctors for over 40 years never found wrong with me. I weighed over 350 lbs, I'm 30 lbs lighter. I have a thyroid problem that he caught. Why didn't the other 20 doctors I've seen over the years catch this. I don't think it happened over night right before I walked in His office. I love the man, and not sexually. I love him for possibly saving my life, if I live. I don't know if I saw him in time or read his article on msg on time. I'm still very sick, but he has made me feel much better. If I die, it's not his fault. It's the failing insurance and fearful doctors.

After years of going there, I finally give up. All they seem care about is over-medicating & making money. I have met Dr Mech ONCE, in the several hundred times I visited their offices Ive seen tons of Physicians Assistants, none whom ever last more than a couple months before disappearing from the office. Some PAs I did like, but its still crazy that Mech never sees his patients, plus once I get to like them they are gone. The wait times are incredible in this assembly line, I have been forgotten in the lobby for over an hour more than once. Then once moved to one of the 20 or so rms you wait another 30 mins usually. But dont be 5 mins late yourself or you are charged a high fee & forced to reschedule. They never seem to try to bill your insurance correctly & often threaten not to see you bc they are owed money the insurance would pay if billed. Dont leave phone messages canceling appoitments, bc they dont check them & you will be charged a no show fee. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I havent't actually visited dr. mech before. I'm just beginning my search but I was warned to stay away from dr. mech from my son's therapist. She said that he was cold, his office did not communicate with thier patients, or with other doctors to aid in the help of a child. I was also warned that all he does is prescribe too much medication. If dr. mech happens to see this; take heed if your own professional colleagues do not respect you, what are you doing?? I am glad that I was warned because you never know what you're getting when you call a number. Good Luck to all the parents out there who are taking care of your challenged child. You are not alone and always look for a doctor to be board certified with children, they are more apt to take a sensitive approach instead of pumping them full of drugs they don't need and that it breaks your heart to have to give it to them. all because some quack told you to, DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!

Appt @ 2:30pm, spent 30 minutes filling out patient-related mental health surveys, then waited 90 minutes before we saw Dr. Mech @ 4:30pm. He stood the whole time forecasting via body language his intent to keep it short. The visit lasted only 10 minutes and he hardly even spoke to my son, the patient. At least it was a very nice facility to have to wait so long in!

Hold on here. I have been seeing Dr Mech for about a year now. He is intelligent and DOES take the time to explain your test results IF you actually LISTEN to him. I have never been treated rudely by the staff. I have never had billing problems nor have any of the PAs ever been rude. They listen because I give them the facts and don't try to self diagnose myself in front of the doctor. Has anyone thought that perhaps the reason that it takes so long to get into the appointment is that some people don't come prepared with their paperwork? Or come a half hour late and expect to be seen? Has anyone ever noticed how busy his office is ALL THE TIME? Bad doctors don't have busy offices. Yes, sometimes I have to wait past my appointment time but its worth the wait. I feel better than I ever have and with Dr. Mech's help I feel I will be coming off all the "over medication" he has given me that has literally restored my sanity. Thank you Dr. Mech and staff for all your hard work

Takes forever to see you, messes up insurance, staff never returns phone calls, every problem met with "let's up the medication". Most PA's never speak to my son, even though he's sitting right there. They just ask me about him. Last PA was better, but they had me on hold for 45 minutes yesterday, then someone took my number and said they would return my call, and never did!

The dr is good and some of the staff are nice and helpful. MY PA that I was working with left the practice and I was uncomfortable with the new person they put me with so I left. My two biggest complaints would be that they will over medicate you - and they will screw up your insurance information - the company they use for their billing doen't know their right hand from their left - they will never call you back - I paid my full bill in August of 2007 and in January of 2008 got a bill for services in January of 07. After much work calling my old insurance company, it turns out that they had never submitted the claims for the first month of the year - but instead of just checking my records and submitting them to the proper insurance company they just tried to bill me for the full amount! Good luck getting any one to call you back - I've left a dozen very stern mesages trying to get someone to respond to me - to no avail. If I have to get a lawyer over this they will be sorry.

Be kind to yourself and find a different doctor. I wish I had. A patient and reception staff confrontation was taking place when I walked in the main entry. That should have been my warning! The office staff was abrupt. Uncommon circular patient room floor plan layout was unsettling. Worse yet was Dr. Mech standing at a podium (really) in the treatment room 'looking down on me' as I sat on a couch for the full 10 minutes of my appointment as a new patient. I got the bill that was declined payment by my insurance company because the doctors invoice lists an Oklahoma City address not the service address in Plano. Additionally, the insurance provider contract expired during the time of my visit and has not been renewed. Billing staff (Pam/Jim) promised to resolve issue but just gave reasons why they couldn't help resolve issue. Office staff (Linda/Pam) didn't return calls. Office manager (Jason) seemed more diplomatic but made same excuses for not working with insurance company.

I would just like to say that I am very pleased with Dr Mech. I think he is very passionate about his patients, I explained to Dr. Mech that I could not afford the medication that he prescribed, and he helped me get free medication through his researcher Omar. I have never felt better and I owe it all to Dr. Mech and Omar. I don't know many clinics that can help you to that extent. I agree that there is a wait, but the treatment approach makes it worthwhile. I would recommend this clinic to anyone.

My husband is receiving the correct treatment and medication for the first time in his life. Previous Drs treated him for illnesses he did not have-and the meds made him crazy. Dr. Mechs' testing found the problem, and the meds are helping him get to the place where they might not be needed (he was on them "forever" before). His brother, who had lost his insurance, was offered treatment for whatever he could afford. As far as "being treated like cattle", the office is set up to manage patients in an efficient manner. I work in a medical facility (big downtown hospital) where people really are treated like cattle. I think the clientele in Plano might have such high expectations and overly busy lives that they have difficulty waiting 15 minutes. We thank Dr. Mech and PA's for their exceptional insight and treatment.

Treat you like Cattle! Can't believe someone else had the same comment. Three visits only saw him once only to show me pictures of meth addicts to scare me off Adderall for ADD. The place feels so cold and impersonal. Be prepared to speed hours for visit, and deal with uncaring staff.

This man saw my daughter once and only once. Then we saw his high and mighty PA's. They treated us as cattle, never getting to the real problem of my teenage childs problem. The PA was very rude when I would ask questions. Had many problems with their insurance people. Kept saying we owed money when we did not. I finally proved our case and they left us alone. Would not recommend!!!

My child was seen twice by Dr. Mech himself. The first visit there, he ordered lab work to test for various things. He never went over the test results with us. From that point on (twice) we saw a P.A. She put my child on Geodon. The first night she took it, my child had a very scary reaction and I had to call the P. A. We went in the next day and saw the same person again. That night, the reaction to the medication was worse than the first night. I can only tell you that it was scary. The P. A. told me she was having a manic episode, which I doubted and instructed us to go to a local emergency room Everything after that is a nightmare. My daughter was only mildly depressed. The ER she sent us to didn't take minors...they made us go to another facility by ambulance. I'm still paying for that! The other facility said that we should never have been there at all and sent us hom. DR Mech or his P. A. NEVER called to check on her, but they want their money now!

I don't know what the other people are talking about. I have only seen Dr. Mech once but was impressed. I've seen about 3 or 4 other psychiatrists and no one ever gathered as much information about me and my symptoms as Dr. Mech's office. The initial packet is 20+ pages of inventories and questionnaires. He also nailed my problem with reactive hypoglcemia, which no one has ever bothered to figure out. He also provides plenty of information on ways to help yourself without medication, like weight training and cutting out caffeine and was very focused on getting me on a path to not needing the drugs eventually so that I don't have to take them forever. He is busy because he is smart and he only sees people for the time that he needs to see them and lets his staff take care of things he doesn't have to be in on to treat you effectively. That way he can see more people. I am going to participate in a trial that will help me get treatment for free for 4 months!

I saw this guy back in 1998-1999, and I must say that he was one of the worst doctors I have ever met. He spends no more then 5 minutes with a patent, and doesn’t seem to help other then prescribing drugs. He shows little interest in the well being of his patents. His staff made errors when filing for insurance and overcharged. He is also very judgmental. This guy should be a psychiatrist, he should be seeing one.

He seemed as though he had no interest in you as the patient. I went to his office several times because I needed the medication that he would perscribe, however i was never really satisfied with his help. He tried to diagnose me with things that i have been told by other doctors are not apparent in my life. Even though I was technically making appointments with him, i only saw him once and was then disrespected by his assistants who were very judgemental. I won't go back.

Office set up so PA "looks down" at you from a podium and implies they are in a hurry; ie, more interested in $ than your health. No compassion; doesn't provide adequate counseling, only prescriptions. If you question anything, he claims you are uncooperative and fires you as a patient through staff...can't even talk one on one with you. He refuses to talk about symptoms that are problematic for you.

The staff was very unhelpful, did not return calls when they said they would call right back in 10 minutes, did not mail information as they said they would. Appointment was a 9:20, was there at 8:30 to fill out paperwork and did not see doctor until 11:30! He did not give ANY treatment, only wanting me to have more tests that insurance does not cover. Highly dissatisfied!!!! 4 hours of my life that I will never get back!!!
