10/11/12 4 4 2 2 I saw Dr. Sharp only 3 times, I was looking for a new GP and he was the GP of a co-worker. The first visit/interview was amazing; said all the right things, including saying that he understood sport injuries and believed in diet, exercise before drugs. The next time I went, after transferring my records there, his tune changed. He seemed annoyed that I had 3 things going on (back, arm/wrist, and stress at work), and couldn't seem to listen to me at all. He offered no support, and told me to go on anti-depressants and try aquafit. If you knew me you'd know that was a ridiculous suggetion. I was I was so shocked by his change, almost chameleon like, I teared up. He left the room to let me "calm down". Came back 20 minutes later. I went back (regretfully) for another appt (waiting for MRI results to come in from previous clinic), and was met with the same horrible attitude. He actually said something like, "we'll see if you like me enough to come back". Cancelled my other appointments.  Respond

22/02/11 4 4 5 5 I just want to say that Dr. Sharp is an amazing Doctor. I no longer see him because I moved to a different province, but he was the only doctor that spent time with me during my anxiety/panic attacks. Every other doctor pushed me out the door but Dr. Sharp. He ordered tests, blood work, and refered me to specialists. He was very thorough with me, and Listened! when I needed someone to listen. If your reading this Dr. Sharp, I thank you so very much for helping me, I will never forget you!  Respond

13/01/11 3 5 5 5 Sharp is the best! Period! At least he cares about people, not like other doctors, when you have a problem and they say, just take some advil or you'll grow out of it. WTF? Sharp is my doctor even thought i live far away from him. They should clone him or something so that we have more Dr. Sharps around.  Respond

12/10/10 2 4 5 5 Dr. Sharp is a great doctor! He has been my & my daughters' doctor for 12 years now. My daughters are now 12 & 13, and have always felt very comfortable with Dr Sharp, as have I. He is knowledgeable, humorous and a genuinely caring individual. I even referred my elderly father, who had many health problems, to Dr Sharp, as he treats us all very well. He is very thorough, and goes the extra mile for his patients. I first saw him at Old Orchard Clinic in Burnaby, then stayed with him when he moved downtown Vancouver, and again when he moved to North Burnaby Clinic. I now have moved out of town, 4 hours away, and I still come to see Dr Sharp. I suffered an unfortunate accident which resulted in a broken leg and many complications, and he has been wonderful in helping me. The staff he has is not the best, making appts for him when he is not in, and confirming them too! As I live out of town, this is a costly mistake for me. But don't let that stop you from going to the best doctor ever!!  Respond

13/08/10 5 3 5 5 Extremely comfortable for a male doctor/female patient relationship. He explains things simply and directly but is very friendly and warm. I've never felt like I'm asking a stupid question or made an un-necessary visit.  Respond

24/03/10 5 5 5 5 Dr. Sharp is an excellent physician who always sets you at ease and helps you navigate through obstacles set up by disability companies.etc. He stresses good self care and exercise and to some extent combines the standard modern medicine with good old fashioned relaxation exercises including yoga. He is very personable and so good in fact that I have directed my daughters to him as well..  Respond

05/12/09 3 3 1 1 I've seen this doctor when his office was in downtown. He seriously misdiagnosed me and I almost became a paraplegic when he didn't realized that I am a spinal cord injury!!! Seen him 3 times and he told me that it's all in my head!!! I was disappointed so I ended up going to Emergency and I was told by the Emerg doc that I needed immediate surgery or I'll suffer from permanent spinal damage. Dr. Stephen Sharp is incompetent and I would avoid this doctor at all cost. Dr. Sharp always asked me at the end of my visit if I knew if any people who needed a family doctor.... he's that bad... and I would never recommend anyone to see this horrible doctor.  Respond

24/08/09 2 2 1 1 Dr. Sharpe misdiagnosed a flu I had as being viral. For a couple of months I was coughing so much and experiencing chest pains; he eventually medicated me but again due to misdiagnosis the medication did not help. Eventually, I switched to my currently GP who immediately detected I was experiencing the onset of pneumonia. She couldn't herself believe the utter incompetence of this doctor for not having detected such an obvious condition sooner. He also often looked at his watch during appointments despite my promptness in answering his questions.  Respond

09/08/09 2 2 2 2 When Dr Hardie retired at the North Burnaby clinic, I was happily directed to see a new young Dr Sharp. Originally I found him to be knowledgable and have a youthful, pleasant character. I never had any fall out or bad words with him and always tried to do exactly what he suggested. I'm very sad to leave this rating and even more saddened to have not only been abandoned by Dr Sharp, but also he banned me from the North Burnaby clinic which I had been going to since 1983. None of the other doctors were able to take my file. I now have a new doctor at a different location and I feel fortunate in hindsite. However, it is extremely important to me to let others know that I in fact was abandond whilst in need by this man. Not only was it a shock and embarassment to me, but also to the other doctors and staff whom have known me and my pleasant gentle character over a 26 year period. Beware to all  Respond

20/04/09 2 2 1 1 I came in with a fear of eating solid foods, was rapidly loosing weight and thought it was a physical issues as well as mental. I had hoped he would suggest help but instead told me to go home and eat. He thought I was anorexic. After explaining to him my love of food and my past choking incidents he did not help still but said to go to the spa and relax, then go eat something. I decided to see another doctor at that clinic and he was super helpful has put me on the right track, he followed up and offered some amazing advice and help. I am now eating again and healthy thanks to Dr. Peter Smith, NOT Sharp.  Respond

03/03/09 3 3 5 5 Since my previous doctor retired, I have been seeing Dr. Sharp and now also bring my son to see him. Last year my son had a case of eczema, and he was very caring and helpful with prescriptions and a specialist. I have always found him to be kind, helpful and knowledgeable. He has a very easy going attitude, which is great for people who may find doctors intimidating. Granted his office is very busy, and the staff is equally so, sometimes this is more due to our medical system than with the Doctors and the staff themselves. If anyone listens to CBC Radio, there has been a great program as of late called 'White Coat, Black Art' which has explored our medical system from many different points of view. If you are having issues with a doctor, or navigating the BC medical system, it will provide some excellent insight. So all in all, Dr. Sharp is a fantastic Doctor and I would recommend him completely.  Respond

20/01/09 2 3 5 4 Dr. Sharp has been my doctor for over 7 years now. I liked his old clinic in downtown Vancouver better, as his new clinic in Burnaby feels way too busy and his staff has made a number of minor errors when I've visited. As a doctor, though, he is first class all the way and I would recommend him to anyone. He's always very friendly and never rushes through an appointment. He seems to have a great knowledge base, and if he doesn't know have an answer for me (which is rare) he's upfront about it and has refered me right away to someone who does. A great doctor who's been very helpful to me over the years! Highly recommended.  Respond

30/10/08 1 3 3 3 when you want to make appointment the staff put you on hold forever. That's so annoying. Dr. Sharp acts differently at different times, depends how his mood strikes him. Not very very knowledgeable, but can be helpful if he send you to a specialist without playing around a lot.  Respond

12/08/07 3 3 2 2 My husband and I met with Dr. Sharp when our doctor retired. When he inquired about our medical history, my husband told him about his congenital heart defect. Dr. Sharp's response was, "Cool..." and "Are you on medication for that?" Not only was his response flippant, but my husband's heart problem is NEVER medicated (it's something that is corrected with surgery and then monitored). Felt insulted that he would pretend to understand the condition when he clearly had no idea. Found him arrogant and dismissive. Would never visit him again.  Respond

13/04/07 2 2 1 This guy kept telling me that my chronic pain was "nothing". I constantly felt brushed off and ridiculed. I started going to another doctor only to find out that my body is filled with tumors. It took him nearly 6 months to send my file over to my new doctor.  Respond

06/04/07 2 5 5 Dr. Sharp has been our doctor for years. Although the clinic that he currently works out of is not our favourite (way too busy), he is! He has always given my family the best care possible and has always made sure that our medical needs are taken care of immediately. Love him!!!!  Respond

11/03/07 3 5 5 I started going to Dr. Sharp when my doctor retired. I find him easy to talk to and very helpful. He seems to know about new techniques and new medications (maybe that is because he does consult medical journals). Keep up the good work Dr. Sharp.  Respond

05/12/06 3 1 1 Not a knowledgeable doctor. He prescribed the wrong medications and misdiagnosed my medical condition. As a result, I have 24/7 chronic pain for years due to the delay of proper diagnosis and surgery. If you have a serious medical problem, don't see him!!!  Respond

05/12/06 1 2 2 Never on time. Appointments are not booked accurately by staff.Clerical staff and nurses are rude. Seems doctor is more interested in building his patient base instead of providing thorough care. Constantly consults medical journals.  Respond
