12/05/14 5 5 5 5 My dermatologist was in Manitoba and I recently moved to Edmonton. I felt awful because my skin was so terrible from acne (well there are alot worse skin problems from other ppl I admit). He told that he had my back and would work with me. He told me first that I should try retina a instead of microdermabrasion because dark skinned ppl have tougher skin, and would save me money. I now live in Edmonton as a permanent resident now, and when I started breaking out from acne again ( I was very stressed), I went to him and he solved the problem right away. I feel the guy really listened to me and really did care about my problems. I writing this review as a thank you to Dr Rao, and I wish him all the best luck  Respond

01/05/14 5 5 5 5 I came into see Dr. Rao about getting lip fillers.I went to many other consultations with other derms and when I came into Dr. Rao's office I knew he was who I wanted to have the procedure with. His staff are very nice and helpful and gave me a bunch of information that helped me decide which filler I wanted. I went with the Juvederm Volbella, I had swelling which is normal and a slight bruise on one side however the swelling has gone down within 24 hours and i couldn't love my lips more. Dr. Rao did an amazing job, he is very outgoing and knowledgeable. I would deff recommend him to anyone who wants to have their lips done.  Respond

20/03/14 5 5 5 5 Dr Rao was very kind and knowledgeable, he took the time to ask me questions and ensure he was giving the proper recommendation as well as answer all of my questions. I feel very comfortable in the office with Dr Rao as well as he staff and always look forward to my next visit. I also am blown away with the results i have seen with the lazer hair removal, i have had this type of treatment done many times before at medi spas but have NEVER seen results like this! if you are looking for a dermatologist, Dr Rao is the best choice!  Respond

11/02/14 5 5 5 5 Dr. Rao is very compassionate, accommodating and very knowledgeable. My 10 month old broke out in a rash. I called that day, he asked to see her that same day. This is a very busy clinic so that was so nice of him. He was able to identify the rash right away and prescribed an ointment that provided my child with relief right away. I will always have him as my families dermatologist and highly recommend him to others.  Respond

27/09/13 5 5 5 5 Dr. Rao is the most knowledgeable dermatologist I have ever been to. He is also extremely skilled in a variety of cosmetic dermatology procedures. I have seen several dermatologists over last ten years for Botox injections, and Dr. Rao's treatment was by far the best. He does not overdo the amount of Botox he uses, thus no-one even suspected that I had anything done afterwards, but everybody commented how "relaxed and young" I looked. The injections very completely pain free. In addition to his medical skills, Dr. Rao is also very pleasant, gentle individual.

12/09/13 5 4 5 5 I saw Dr. Rao for red face and mottled pigmentation on chest due to sun exposure when i was young. His nurse did laser for me. She was very caring and knowledgeable. She was very precise and caring and looked very carefully for all my spots; she did not rush me through and was meticulous in treating all the needed areas. She gave me a fan to cool the skin so that I didn't have any pain. I was very please with her work and my chest looks so much better! I had a wedding to go to and i was afraid of wearing a low cut dress, but after her laser i could wear it with no problem!  Respond

28/05/13 4 3 4 4 Dr Rao is very personable but I have given up dealing with him for my problem. He treats me like a new patient every time I come back to see him and keeps prescribing the same treatment even though it didn't work in previous iterations. He doesn't listen when I tell him this has already been tried. And he doesn't listen when I tell him what really happens when I try it (as opposed to what he expects will happen). I can only assume he knows of no other options. I wish he would listen to his patients more!  Respond

11/05/13 5 5 5 5 Dr. Rao is a very knowledgable doctor and I highly recommend him to everyone because he really cares for his patients wellbeing. He takes his time with the patient and answers all the questions the patient might have. He makes sure that the patient has full understanding of what is going on and explains the procedure. When I walked into the clinic I was welcomed by very friendly and polite staff. I felt comfortable and was able to ask Dr. Rao all the questions I needed because he gave me the time. I am very happy with the results. Dr. Rao is an amazing dermatologist!!

07/05/13 1 1 1 3 My treatment appointment was a complete nightmare. The staff/doctor booked me in for the WRONG procedure. I had numbing cream applied all over my face instead of the few spots on my face that were supposed to be treated. If i didnt catch this on time i would have paid $1200 instead of a $250 procedure. The lady applying the cream to my face had no idea what was going on or what procedure i was supposed to be in for. She consulted another doctor who told me that the laser machine for the procedure was broken and could not be used. The staff laughed about the matter and were not sincere at all. The doctor also told me many other patients were scheduled in for treatments that they are not able to perform.I was offered a 10% off my procedure for when the machiene gets fixed.i wouldn't mind paying full price or even more if they acted professional. Do i really need to deal with this kind of service just to save $25.DON'T schedule patients when you know you can't perform the procedure.  Respond

17/08/12 5 3 5 5 I have nothing but great things to say about Dr Rau, Barb and the rest of the staff. Dr Rau has done numerous treatmentson me for a very small fee and has wanted nothing but the best results for me. Yes he is very busy, usually very late and can't spend a whole bunch of time with you. But he says a very large amount of patients in a day, works between two clinics and is also teaching residents, but, by the way, it is a teaching hospital!! They do fabulous work there and you couldn't ask for a nicer group of people!!  Respond

09/03/12 4 4 5 5 Dr. Rao is one of the most caring and knowlegeable doctors out there. Dr. Rao takes the concerns of his patients very seriously and you never feel rushed. He has cared for me for 3 years now and every time I see him I know I am in good hands. He's an amazing doctor who has also helped my daughter through a skin condition quickly and effectively without having to go through our GP and months of referral time. He has my complete respect and I would recemmend him to everyone.  Respond

04/02/12 3 3 3 3 I would like to remind women seeking cosmetic surgery that Dr Jaggi Rao is a dermatologist not a surgeon & his clinic is a training center. This is my experience. I paid $3,000 to have Dr Rao perform surgery on my upper eye lids. Dr Rao is always accompanied with a young doctor/student in training however I expected his assistant in this intricate procedure to be experienced. Dr Isaiah Day operated the vacuum used to suck up blood as the laser cuts thru the eye lids. Dr Day lost control of the vacuum on my left eye sucking out an excessive amount of the fatty tissue in my lid. It was quite the commotion; my fear indescribable as I heard my skin flapping around wildly in the vacuum. I was further horrified when Dr Rao said that Dr Day & a student were going to stitch up my eyes & then he left the room leaving them unsupervised. The final result is my left eye is distinctly smaller in size, feel & shape, the skin on the inner corner of the lid looks like it went through the meat grinder

12/11/11 4 5 5 5 The difference between arrogance and confidence is competence. I met Dr. Rao at an extreme low point in my battle with a skin condition. Years ago I was incorrectly diagnosed with a skin condition which would only get worse. The prescribed medication made it worse. A year ago things were particularly bad, the worst in a decade. Dr Rao's methods might seem odd: I typed up a history of my condition; he did not look at it. Instead he looked at my skin, asked some questions (avoiding previous diagnosis and medications) and came to his own conclusion. A year later I can report HE WAS 100% CORRECT and my skin is so much better than before. Yes, Dr. Rao is busy, usually has an intern in tow, sometimes forgets previous discussions, and offers a number of treatments. However all his recommendations have improved my condition. So if a busy office, a quick consult and the odd paid service bothers you, then please stay away and leave room for those who can appreciate excellent service.  Respond

19/07/10 5 4 5 5 I have been very pleased with the services received from Dr. Rao. He treated my dark circles with fillers and, for my safety, refused to overdue the fillers even though I requested more. He knew his boundaries. He took great care in ensuring I was happy and offered to do "touch ups" for no cost. His consultant, Linda, is phenomenal. She ensures to remember each patient's name and makes them feel comfortable. She is highly knowledgeable in all treatments she administers. The only criticism I have is that the clinic at the U of A is very busy and not private. For anyone wanting more privacy for treatments and quicker service, I highly recommend seeing Linda at Eveline Charles. Linda gave me two profactional laser treatments to treat acne and acne scarring. When the first treatment didn't work well enough, she did another treatment at no cost. She is dedicated to her patients and never lets anyone walk away unhappy. I now have clear and fresh skin. I highly recommend Dr. Rao and Linda.  Respond

16/04/10 5 3 4 5 I am also surprised at the negative comments for Dr. Rao! I was referred for low/moderate acne and during my first appointment I was prescribed topical solutions (instead of harsh medication) that has kept my skin completely clear- even a year later! Dr. Rao even generously performed a V-Beam laser treatment on my remaing discoloured scars for free. I found him to be confident (which could be misunderstood for arrogance) and extremely knowledgeable. His consultation was short, but he made sure to address all of my questions and concerns, which leads me to believe that he does care about the well being of his patients. He wasn't very punctual, but really, how many doctors actually are?  Respond

20/10/09 2 3 1 1 Dr. Rao treated me in a disrespectful way. He spent a grand total of 30 seconds with me and was talking to the nurse about the next patient before I even had the chance to grab my bag and walk out the door. This condescending creature could not be bothered to explain my diagnosis- but he was willing to prescribe a lot of medication for it. He didn't bother to tell me any of the side effects- which happen to be serious. When I called back to enquire, he didn't have a clue. He told me that he sees 65 patients a day and can't remember one from the next. This man is getting rich rich rich seeing 65 patients a day and not caring about a single one of them. Dr. Rao, you didn't care about me or my condition. I wouldn't recommend you to any other patient.  See Responses

03/07/09 1 1 1 1 injected my eyes with a filler called Restylane that was suppose to reduce dark circles around the eyes. This procedure caused a lumpy distorted look to my eyes and ended up looking worse off. His solution to the problem was to inject more filler. In fact, he didn't even make it to my meeting I had booked with him, he had his nurse tell me that without even seeing my eyes. My philosophy, if you can't do it right in the first place why would I do it again? Dr Jaggi Rao seemed as if he was completely absent minded when I meet him for my injection and I believed he knew he made a mistake.

20/04/09 4 2 2 2 I was referred to Dr. Rao for a rare skin disorder (pityriasis lichenoides). I was examined by 2 of his medical students for the majority of the appointment. I only saw Dr. Rao for maybe 2 minutes. He prescribed tetracycline and encouraged me to continue suntanning. Tetracycline is PHOTOSENSITIVE! He prescribed contradictory treatments! I didn't bother taking the medication.I ended up researching for myself what medications have worked for other people with this condition, and had my family doctor prescribe it for me. I have now been asymptomatic for 3 years. I feel as though Dr. Rao didn't take the time to listen to me or to his students Re: what was really happening with my skin. I do not recommend him.  See Responses

31/07/08 5 5 5 5 I agree that Dr. Rao is an amazing doctor. He is very kind and selfless. Not only did he see my son without referral, he came in on his day off to do it because I was panicking about his rash. He is only 6 years old and suffered from what turned out to be an outbreak of molluscum that was infected and bleeding. This was quickly diagnosed and treated effectively. They have completely gone and my son is feeling much better. When you don't know what a skin rash is, it can be very frightening and Dr. Rao was very soothing and generous with his time explaining and treating my son (and my emotions!). It's obvious that he loves children and people in general. See, Alberta does have good, kind doctors and I've found one for life. Thank you so much again -- Michelle  Respond

12/07/08 5 5 5 5 Dr. Rao is an excellent doctor. I had come in to see him from out-of-town and he actually came in on his day off to see and treat me. Contrary to what was written before, he actually persuaded me from not using Levulan for my acne as I could burn during the summer months. I thought that was very considerate of him considering my local doctor was pushing for this back home. No, he did not tap my wallet and I am most pleased with his respectful nature and expertise. I'm already starting to see results. Thanks very much Dr. Rao and his staff.  Respond

16/11/07 1 1 1 1 Dr. Rao was referred to me by a doctor. This was a very ineffective appointment, and a waste of time. He had a student or doctor with him, who seemed more concerned than Dr. Rao himself. My wife also commented on his lack of general concern, and was very disenchanted when Dr.Rao answered a cell phone 2 min into what was suppose to be an examination. What he prescribed for the condition unknown, was worse for me than the problem. A wrong diagnosis, altogether in the end. Still have yet to figure out what ails me.  Respond

11/10/07 2 2 1 1 I found Dr. Rao to be extremely arrogant. He spent less than 5 minutes with me and the medication he prescibed has not helped at all. Not surprising I guess since he barely looked at my skin before making a diagnosis. He was only interested in selling me expensive cosmetic procedures even when I saw him for a medical skin problem. Dr. Rao has been the only physician to date that has been accommodating, caring and thorough in ruling out all possible causes. He was instrumental in discerning the direction we needed to take for successful treatment. 06/03/07 2 1 1 This doctor gives out prednisone like its candy. I came to him with symptoms very similar to scabbies. I was referred by my doctor to Dr. Rao. My spouse was experiencing the same symptoms but he refuse to take that into consideration. Instead of treating me for scabbies, he put me on 45mg of prednisone a day for 3 months!! Along with sleeping pills, and very harsh steroid cream. Finally one of the 20 med students he brought into the exam room with him during one of my many visits, this young up and coming doctor had enough sense to tell Dr. Rao I needed to come off the prednisone. Once I did, he finally realized that indeed, I had scabbies and the months of torturous itching were finally over in 12 hours (length of time it takes for the scabbies cream to kick in). I would never ever go back to him. He's kind in nature, but lacks some serious common sense.  Respond
