Dr. Gallentine, through her knowledge, dedication and realization that a team effort (with patient) is critical to finding a solution, has helped me tremendously. The wait to get in as a new patient can be lengthy, but well worth it.

Kathleen Gallentine is a very intuitive and helpful doctor who truly helped me get my life back on track. She did so not simply by prescribing medications (which were very effective for me), but also by really listening to me and asking questions that forced me to think about why I've made certain choices and decisions. I highly recommend her to anyone in need of a psychiatrist.

I started going to Dr. Gallentine when I moved to Houston from Louisiana for treatment of my bipolar disorder. I wanted to get with a Dr. who would help me with my meds when I decide to get pregnant. Not only do we talk about this often, but she also gave me a name of a high-risk gyno who is just amazing. They have worked together with other patients before who are in my same position and that was exactly what I was looking for. Dr. Gallentine is very professional and helpful. She is ALWAYS willing to listen and she ALWAYS gives me an unbiased answer. It is so nice to go and talk to her knowing that she won't just tell me what I want to hear. At times, I have found her soo truthful that it catches me off guard, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I highly reccomend her to anyone in my position looking for psychiatrist.

Dr. Gallentine is amazing! She is one of the few psychiatrists left who still provides both psychological counseling and medication treatment. She is attentive, compassionate, and wonderfully helpful. She is able to adjust meds based on information gleaned and demeanor observed during counseling sessions. She took the time to reach a comprehensive, accurate diagnosis for me. I have had psychiatrists who saw me for 30 minutes, made a snap diagnosis, prescribed meds, and wished me well until my next 30-minute appointment (perhaps a month or more later). Dr. Gallentine took the time to determine a proper diagnosis, and she continues to take the time to monitor my psychological progress, coach me in more effective ways of thinking, and adjust my psychiatric medications as needed. I can't praise this fine doctor enough.

I have been going to Dr. Gallentine for 3 years now. I was very depressed, drinking too much and very unhappy with life, especially my marriage. She had been very effective in helping me understand myself and to build my self-esteem. It has been a very difficult time and I resisted taking the medication, but Dr. Gallentine very effective in helping me to accept the fact that medication was necessary to help me with my depression and what I was doing with my life, my family and husband. In the last couple of months, I have begin to feel some stability in my moods and personality and continue to take the medications prescribed. Dr. Gallentine is really great percepting my mood and is great about leading me into talking about all the things that might be bothering me. We have cut back my sessions to every 3 months and I still continue to progress in a positive manner that I am now feeling with be for a long long time. Thanks to Dr. Gallentine, I am a very happy person and like who I am!

Dr. Gallentine was recommended by my therapist to make sure the medication prescribed to me by my general practitioner were appropriate for my condition last year after a friend's death. She helped me get through that and I have been a patient since that time. Dr. Gallentine also helped me get through a rough pregnancy-not being able to take my medication at times and being on a lower dosage. Throughout my pregnancy she made herself available and I am thankful to have received her help and understanding. She is very professional, knowledgeable and caring and I would definitely recommend her to others.

Is extremely impersonal. Is reactional about things said that she doesn't like or feels that may target her shortcomings. I find this a shocking reaction for a psychiatirst, who should remain non-judgemental. I said something despairing about her gender, not directed at her, and that was the last I saw of her. It was evident she would no longer continue our doctor patient relationship becaue she was offended. Weird, for someone in her professional.

Dr. Gallentine assisted me in becoming mentally healthy. Without her guidance, I'm not sure where I would be today. As Of today, I've been stable for 6 years and counting. I've remarried and have the most wonderful relationship with my husband of 2 years. She was and still is a blessing from my Lord.

They don't get any better than Dr. Gallentine. Compassionate, professional and knowledgeable. She prescribed medications that turned my life completely around. Don't know what else to say to compliment her. She's certainly a breath of fresh air in today's medical community. If you live in Houston and are suffering from depression, go see Dr. Gallentine IMMEDIATELY...you need not suffer.

Dr. Gallentine has proven to be an excellent Psychatrist. She is very knowledgeable in her field. She's very personable & has a great bedside manner. I've been seeing her for 4 years now & she has helped me tremendously with my condition. She knows the right treatment for the symptoms that I have & is current on all of the new Psychotropic medications. I appreciate that she takes the time to give not only med checks but therapy as well. There are very few Psychiatrists that do this. I think that is why she is able to understand my condition so well. The staff at her office are not quite as efficient as I would like them to be. I have to ask them to do things several times before it gets done. (Ex: Call my insurance for approvals) However, they are very friendly & eventually get the job done. I would & have recommended Dr. Gallentine to many friends & family & hope to continue seeing her for many years to come!

Genuinely wants to make sure your prescription is customized to your needs, doesn't just slap a prescription on you to get you out the door. Also discusses side effects at length during first visit so you know what to expect. Her gentle personality makes visits very comfortable.

Dr. Gallentine correctly diagnosed me on the first visit. I like that she is conservative when prescribing medicine... other doctors I have seen in the past have been quick to over medicate. She has a reserved personality, but is very easy to talk to and I feel she really listens and cares about what I say. I have been seeing her for several months and would highly recommend her.

Dr Gallentine is quite a good doctor. She's really knowlegeable in prescribing the best medicine for me. She's been my doctor for more than 15 years. In that time I've come to understand depression and the impact it's had on me and my loved ones. She has allowed me to fully participate in my treatment and her wisdom has guided me toward a better life. It is difficult to think clearly and to express myself when I am down in the black "hole." She has helped me out of that dark place I sometimes end up in. And when I'm better, she helps me to understand the illness I have so that I am better able to manage.

I do not believe that this many glowing remarks spaced so nicely are really this many individual patients. These sound like a few or less people who need to protect someone because they haven't really resolved their own issues. Unfortunately, what I've seen and heard about her - cold and distant. Doesn't like to get her hands dirty with people who have serious issues. Might be likable but not that effective. I know too much now to fall for this - both medically and politically.

Dr. Gallentine is an exceptional specialist in the field of pyschiatry. She listens, asks numerous questions, and I feel she geniunely cares about her patients. Unlike some specialists who run through patients to make a buck, she spends time, makes certain you are taking your medications appropriately, and when you're not, she will let you know. I like that about her. Firm yet gentle. People with any mental disorder/illness need structure in their lives, and she provides just that. I cannot say anything negative about her. Would highly recommend her to anyone.

I have been seeing Dr. Gallentine for both couple counseling and also on an individual basis for approximately eight months now. She is always professional, punctual, asks very good questions, and is a good listener. Additionally, she is very cautious when prescribing medications and not quick to over prescribe as I feel many Doctors frequently do. I agree with all the patients who rated her very highly and left positive comments. I do understand that all Doctors are not for everyone; however, I switched to Dr. Gallentine from a therapist which I had been seeing for many years and am very happy in my decision. I feel that she offers me a much better level of care than I had previously received. CS

Very happy with results. Showed perceptable improvement quickly. Dr. Gallentine's willingness to be available and her knowledgable insight into my problems greatly facilitated my return to a productive lifestyle. I consider myself very fortunate that she was available to take me as a patient when I so desperately needed someone. I am one of the lucky ones!

Dr. Gallentine has always been very knowledgable and helpful. She correctly diagnosed a family member's bipolar disorder on the first visit and was a tremendous help in that person's stabilization - and continues to be. She's been a great help to me in the treatment of my depression also. She seems to be genuinely interested in what's going on with me. I would encourage her to always take the time to show care and interest in her patients - it does make a difference!

I went to Dr. Gallentine several years ago, but stopped my meds for depression and my appts, thinking I didn't really need them. The depression and anxiety grew and I finally realized I really needed medication to carry on a normal life. I went back to her this spring. She lectured me about stopping so abruptly on my own, then evaluated my my current condition and put me on a new medication that is working very well. I find her to be unjudgemental and quite easy to talk to.

Dr. Gallentine has been a life saver. The first three Drs. I went to incorrectly or misprescribed my bipolar disorder with the result of me ending up in the hospital. She has worked very closely with me to find the right medicines and talk therapy. She is an excellent psycopharmacologist. It has been difficult and life changing but she has been with me every step of the way. I have found Dr. Gallentine to be professional, caring and very knowledgeable. She has encouraged me to page her when I was really in need. I have recommended her to friends and other Drs.

I have suffered from depression for many years and taken various anit-depesants given to me by my primary care doctor. I've been seen Dr. Gallentine for 6 month's and she made the correct diagnosis and I'm on the correct medication now. I feel like I have my life back.

She treated a family member - I met her a couple times. She's very "proper" per my family member's description but also felt to be cold. She made a horrible mistake in diagnosis - patient was really bipolar and treatment with antidepressants caused disease to soar. Family member also had a terrible neurological disease she never noticed (it was diagnosed later long after quitting this psych) She should have talked to family early on. Attractive and has nice office but my confidence is low, sorry to say. She did provide info re therapists during a crisis to help out. Probably has good points but family member's experience with her was not helpful to any of us.
