Dr. Amersi is one of the most competent physicians that we have ever met. During my pregnancy Dr. Amersi has provided an outstanding medical care. We had great interactions during the prenatal visits and all the questions were answered right away. We very much appreciated her advice and services that were provided during each visit. We were also quite impressed by Dr. Amersi surgical skills and professionalism. More importantly, Dr. Amersi has promptly returned all the calls regarding our concerns. In addition, the staff personnel along with Dr. Amersi physician partner (Dr. Yashari) at the clinic were wonderful and very helpful. On a personal note, Dr. Amersi is a very pleasant individual with a great personality easy to interact with. We would highly recommend Dr. Amersi as a physician.

Dr.Amersi is an angel. She saved me from a lot of pain and misery. I suffered painful trips in and out of the ER. The doctors would just medicate me and send me home. Thank goodness one night one of the ER doctors called Dr. Amersi and she found a huge abcess on my tubes and a fibroid coming out of my cervix. She immediately admitted me and called in a team of radiologist over the weekend no less to fix me up. A couple of days later she removed the fibroid and the most wonderful part of all of that is that I still have my reproductive organs. Her passion for what she does is abundantly clear. I'm thankful there are still doctors out there who genuinely want to make you better and heal you. I'm eternally grateful to Dr. Shamsah Amersi. She is truly an angel on earth.

I'm sure that she is very knowledgeable, but I felt extremely rushed during my appt., and my concerns were brushed aside. When I pointed out to her something that my previous GYN in another city had told me to "keep an eye on", she dismissed it as being very common and not worth checking in on. Well then, why would my previous doctor tell me to get this particular thing checked out every couple of years? I think I will give her one more try, but if things aren't better, I'm finding someone else. It's disconcerting to open up and mention concerns, only to have them brushed aside as she sprints out of the office.

I have had 4 OB/GYN's over the course of about 15 years, and Dr. Amersi is by far the best I've seen. She cared for me with my first pregnancy (I delivered Sept 2008) and was the consummate professional throughout, as well as the type of doctor you just want to have: thoughtful, thorough, pleasant, knowledgeable, exhibits great judgment, etc.. Her bedside manner is extremely warm. Dr. Amersi really took her time whenever we'd meet; I never felt rushed in her office. She was extremely respectful of my birth plan and listened to my concerns. She is very dedicated to her patients, as evidenced by the fact that she delivered my baby at 4 in the morning even though she was not the on-call doctor that night. I cannot say enough good things about her - and her office - for that matter. Calls are answered right away, appointments are not difficult to make, everyone is extremely friendly and Dr. Amersi is a pleasure to see each time you go. I feel fortunate to have found her.

She came highly recommended by my famiy doctor, Dr. Lee, whom is great. So I started with high expectations. During my annual check-up she was mediocre. She was very bubbly, but rushed the exam. Think she was in and out within 10 minutes. A year later, when my birth control expired, my pharmicist contacted her office to extend the prescription. I even called her office myself to inform them that I needed the extension processed and they assured me that it was being handled. When I arrived at my pharmicist to pick up the prescription, they informed me that Dr. Amersi's office refused to extend my prescription until I go in for my annual. I have been on birth control for the past ten years and have never had a OB/GYN refuse to renew my birth control. At the very least, she could have extended it for just one month to give me a chance to go in, or told me over the phone that I would need to come in before they renewed the pres. But instead, she left me without birth control.

Although I do not doubt Dr. Amersi's technical skill, I was disappointed in her interpersonal abilities. At first she seemed very personable, but when I developed problems (ultimately resulting in miscarriage and a D&C) she was very dismissive. She did not provide a note for me to give my work, even though I discussed it with her at length prior to surgery, and she did not provide the prescriptions she had promised before the procedure (fortunately I didn't need them). After the surgery, neither she nor anyone from her office followed up with me; the only call I received was from one of the nurses at the hospital, asking if my care from them had been satisfactory. It was hard to learn what to expect after the surgery, and when I asked questions about symptoms, she dismissed them--until my 3-week follow-up appointment, at which point she said, "Oh, that's not normal." Next time I'll go to another doctor, not because I had a miscarriage, but because Amersi doesn't communicate.

Amersi delivered my baby. She's a very nice person and caring but you have to be pushy if you have concerns; I learned the hard way.I had a premmie and he has had multiple developmental problems that *possibly* were caused by his birth. I was under 35 and I had an uncomplicated pregnancy. But I suffered multiple complications after. I was in hospital for 2wks. Perhaps this had nothing to do with my doctors, and ultimately they saved me from a hysterectomy. However, under Amersi-Yashari's care, I was rushed through and usually they trivialized my concerns: a few weeks before my waters broke I felt labor pains, but I never called them because "you'll be fine" was their standard response.I gave them another chance 2 yrs ago and asked about my vg-never felt the same.Same thing; questions brushed off. I just started pnatal care with a new dr who says it's not my imagination about my vg. Be assertive and chg if they repeatedly disregard concerns. Maybe they will chg from feedback.

I would like to follow up on an earlier comment I made. Although I still feel that the front staff could use some help and I have had a few minor problems with billing (that were later resolved) Dr. Amersi is a very knowledgeable, caring doctor. She spent a lot of time with me and explained everything. At the end of my appointment she made it a point to find out how I was doing. I would see Dr. Amersi again in a second.

Without hesitation, this is the top ob/gyn in Santa Monica. Her knowledge, expertise, hands on approach, sensitivity, kindness and patience during my delivery were unmatched by any other physician or previous experience. She was very nurturing and provided me with tools to feel like a partner in my birth process. I recommend her highly!

Dr Amersi has always been a very receptive Dr. I have never felt rushed with her. If I need to discuss something in depth I advise of that before my appointment to be fair as I know other patients are also waiting. She is one of the best DR's I have been to in Los Angeles.

Changed from Tristan Bickman, the worst doctor. Amerci was great. First appointment, my name was called within 5 min. of my appointment time. That has never happened to me before. During the visit, she was friendly but very professional. After the visit, she actually called me first with the results! That has NEVER happened to me before. Any other time that I called, she called back the same day. This is the complete opposite from Tristan Bickman.

This was my first pregnancy and I very pleased with the service I recieved from both Dr. Amersi and the senior doctor in the office. Both were so positive and helped me overcome fears, answer questions, and took time to talk to me about my life and pregnancy experience. My baby was breach and both doctors kept close tabs on me. I ended up having a C-section because my son was breach, and she and her senior doctor were so comforting to have in the operating room. I would reccomend them to anyone. She will be my doctor for my second child, no doubt.

I can't believe some of the reviews I just read. Anyway, it has been a while since I've seen Dr. Amersi and Dr. Yashari but I had to put my 2 cents. They are both great doctors. The wait in their office is indeed long but the care they provide is second to none. They have both helped me through difficult times. I truly believe they are the reason I have my 3 year old HEALTHY daughter. Since moving away from the west side I have been unable to find doctors of their caliber and am seriously thinking of making the drive from the San Gabriel Valley once again to hopefully find out what is wrong with me. Doctors out here keep coming up empty.

Dr. Amersi is very caring. She helped me through an extremely difficult twin delivery. Her demeanor comforted me. She explains everything clearly and is not rushed. I have referred many friends to her and they are all just as happy. The nurse's at the hospital where I delivered have a great deal of respect for her. That says a lot.

Let me start off by saying...STAY AWAY! She is a bitter woman who is in the wrong profession. She has terrible bedside manner, always rushed me through my appts and always made negative comments about why I shouldn't gain weight...insinuating that my husband would not want me after the birth. WHO SAYS THAT!!! She was negligent to run tests or detect a condition that I was developing. I was afraid of having my baby with her...I needed my hand held and she was the complete opposite. I was so uncomfortable with her but it was too late in the pregnancy to change and luckily found comfort in the senior Dr in her practice. She sees me in the office from time to time and she doesn’t even look at me or acknowledges me. I personal don’t care, I had to take care of me and my baby but I hope that you take my experience and think twice before seeing her.

I saw Dr.Amerci for my yearly exam. Although she is nice and seems knowledgeable, I felt rushed. I was in the process of finding a new dr. when I found out I was pregnant. I called the office because I was very sick and didn't feel right. I was upset on the phone & told them I didn't feel right, but I still couldn't get an appointment for nearly 3 weeks. I ended up going to the E.R. where they immediately hooked me up to 2 liters of I.V. Not long after that I started spotting. I called the office and the male doctor in that office who talked to me on the phone told me to come in right away for a blood test, which I did. That was on a Mon.I called Tue. for the results and they told me to call back Wed., I call Wed. and they tell me to call back Fri. Making me wait a total of 5 days to find out if I am having a miscarriage. Granted there probably isn't much they can do for me this early in the pregnancy, It is disturbing that they would tell me to rush in for tests then not have results

i am adding my thoughts to this because i feel like this is a really helpful page for women seeking ob's. it's one of the few places to get feedback on doctors - i felt like i was getting very little of her attention, i felt she was rushed. I also felt like none of my questions were ever really answered nor was there time to sort through all of the things that i wanted to go over with her, this being my first pregnancy. If you don't need a lot of explaining throughout your pregnancy and/or you do not need a doctor who is more on the nurturing side then i'm sure she is fine but if you are looking for someone who is warm and takes some time with you, i would not recommend her.

She was just o.k. I have only seen her one time, but I will probably not keep her as my regular ob-gyn. I dont really have a reason, other than I was uncomfortable with her at my visit and she seemed like she was a little rushed.

Dr. Amersi does not listen to her patients and jumps to conclusions. She ignores what you say and focuses in on irrelevant information. She failed to notify me of negative (as in very bad results) and the only way I found out was to call and follow up on my tests. She failed to schedule necessary follow up treatments. When I had to go to the senior doctor in her practice, he was appalled that she did not schedule the standard (i.e. what everyone is supposed to do) tests and follow up. When results came back negative again, she glossed over the results and would not give me any information about my problem I would whole heartedly recommend you DO NOT GO TO HER, it is a waste of time and a danger to your health.
