SHORT OF CASH-THIS IS THE PLACE-service is sloppy-half the dentists in training dont know what the other half is doing-in competent work. BU STUDENTS there are second rate-Each one gives a different opinion-Half of them are from Italy and other foreign countries. BU is big on endowment money form outside USA-TRY A REAL DENTIST-implants are a FRAUD FOR MOST PEOPLE-MAKE A FORTUE FOR THE DENTIST.
They recommended as series of implants saying it was the only viable treatment after having a serious dental problem caused bu irradiation for cancer of the lymph system. Our insurance company (Aetna) denied the need for implants and when I asked for support from BU they were unresponsive. $17,000 and not a dime recovered from insurance.
The place is old and out of date. If you have a great deal of time on your hands, the price is right. Everything takes forever in that place. I stopped going after several visits because I invested too much time and got too little out of the place.
I was a patient for oral surgery. I got 3 different price quotes from different people, and it took me several months to get an initial appointment, which they called to cancel as I was walking up the steps to the building. When I finally was scheduled for surgery, they disregarded my hypoglycemia, scheduled me for 2pm (fasting), saying everything would be fine, and then didn't see me until about 4pm. When I was finally in the operating room, they didn't even have my condition on the chart, even though I mention it at every visit (it took about 3 to get this scheduled). I was about to be sedated when I mentioned that I was hypoglycemic. The doctor checked my blood sugar, and it was 32!!! The other on call doctor said that if I was sedated, I would most likely have gone into a coma and possibly died. He was very helpful, and while he didn't want to use sedation at all, had a good alternative - which the front desk and the new supervisor disregarded the next time I tried to reschedule.
Some of their students are good. But I have a neck problem and told the student many times I had to becareful of how low chair went. He chose not to listen and it was injured. I stopped going after that. PRO: if you have nowhere else to go, they are the place. YOu can pay half the price of endo work as private dentist. CONS: (1) some students don't speak english too well and hurry too much (2) it take twice as many visits as a private dentist. If you live in Boston I guess it's okay but I can't say I was please with my last few visits there.
