27/06/14 5 5 5 5 I owe my "new foot" and my improved health to Dr Veljkovic. I spent 6 months in physio before being referred to her when it was decided I would need surgery to fix my flat foot. From our first meeting I was impressed with her knowledge and her determination to help me get better. She was very clear with her description of the surgery and what I could expect afterwards. I always felt like I was in the best possible hands, which as someone who works in the health field myself, is a huge relief! Even as I was being sedated in the OR, I could see her smiling face and focus and felt very safe! The two surgeries went perfectly and my recovery has been smooth. I consider myself very fortunate that I had her as my surgeon because my surgery was very complicated. "Andie" exemplifies the qualities you would want in a surgeon. She is brilliant, a great communicator, compassionate , empathetic, thorough and just a down to earth nice person. I consider myself so fortunate to have her as my surgeon

Her care and prognoses of my multiple fracture (ankle, tibia and fibula)were spot on. Only highly knoledgable doctors have ability at the moment when they see injury they know what to do to help that patient heal properly. Also, she is so busy with to many patients, but she is always in a good mood, never showed any sign she might be tired or stressed out. Andy genuinely care about patients well being. 24/05/14 5 5 5 5 I broke my leg in a horrible accident. It was so bad I didn't think my life would be the same again. Dr. Veljkovic pieced my leg back together with a rod through my tibia and multiple screws around my knee and ankle. Now just 4 months later I'm walking without an aid and soon I'll be back to my normal life. By talking to her you can tell she truly cares about her patients and that she takes pride in her work. Thanks Doc, I'm eternally grateful.

10/05/14 5 5 5 5 Andi (as she likes to be called) is by far the best doctor/surgeon I have ever had. She is extremely knowledgable, passionate and precise. She tells it like it is and this is what I appreciate the most about her. I have seen her many times and always leave with a huge smile on my face, even after surgery. You honestly know she cares when she visits you in the post operative room more than a few times. If it weren't for her, her team at Toronto Western Hospital and Pivot Sports Medicine I would not be walking. Her art is such a gift to this world. I can't thank her enough. Also, her receptionist Senela, is wonderful. So helpful and calm. I can't imagine the amount of phone calls and people she gets prodding her everyday and she always returns my phone calls and greets everyone with a warm smile. Her position has to be one of the hardest and she handles it with such grace and tact. As hard as foot surgery can be this was such a great experience... almost like a foot spa :) (lol).  Respond

01/05/14 5 5 5 5 At my 1st appt Dr “Andie”, in her casual friendly way, clearly articulated her planned surgical rectification & hazards. The surgery in late Nov 2013 was an enhanced challenge, she having undertook what normally takes 2 operations (owing to my having to travel from NS). Her exceptional skill and confidence shined bright in that she had to ‘on-the-fly’ modify an unforeseen foot bone flaw mid-surgery which the observing surgical resident (student) Drs did not believe could be done during the time constraint of the surgery. Dr V’s prescribed pain meds worked well – till I whacked the toe of my cast resulting in a torque of my foot inside the cast & huge pain for 3weeks (Lesson learned – the foot is not invincible inside a cast!) Two months later the new weight bearing Xrays showed perfect alignment (No pronation!) – at 4mo I was without even a cane! Next foot will be in 1.5yrs, without nervousness. Sanela her receptionist is a treat – super helpful! Ontario’s gain was the Maritimes loss!

09/04/14 5 5 5 5 I spent over a year with a crippling sesamoid bone issue. I went to several doctors and none could help me. I forced my family doctor to send me for a MRI and then to a specialist. Man am I happy it was Dr. Veljkovic. Within the first 5 min Dr. Andy had bet her self that she knew what the issue was and indeed she won. She knew without looking at the X-Rays that I had previously had a 5th metatarsal injury and could tell immediately why I was having so much pain. The solution was to re-arrange my foot so it strikes the ground properly. She cut my heal bone (by using and aligned it with the tibia, and also raised my big toe so it was no longer the main point of contact. She also reworked my ligaments so the toe would pull to the right instead of directly down. I'm at about 11 weeks after the first surgery now and feeling great. I can't wait for full recovery and to start running again. I can't thank Dr. Andy (and her people) enough!  Respond

19/03/14 5 4 5 5 Ruptured my achilles tendon playing football, was seen by Veljkovic and the best word to describe her as a doctor is confident. She is no nonsense, very straight forward and very passionate about her work. She told me she loved doing achilles repairs which put me at ease. The surgery was everything i could have asked for. 4 months post surgery there is no swelling, the scar is minimal and im already back to light jogging, swimming and have my normal life back. My physiotherapist is constantly telling me how much better my ankle looks than other achilles ruptures shes has seen. If you get a choice choose Veljkovic, shes the greatest and immensely exceeded all my expectations.

18/02/14 5 5 5 5 Dr Andie Veljkovic is the best medical practitioner I have had to associate with in my life. I have chronic osteomyelitis and had to undergo corticotomy on my left tibia, and I was assigned Dr Andie. Though the surgery and post op recovery was difficult for me to take at my age (86), the procedure was exceptionally successful. Dr Andie is a very pleasant person. She is meticulous, and quite firm. She had a very clear plan in place, and she didn’t allow anything to change that plan. It is very obvious that she cares for her patients. Also, she has superior clinical and surgical skills. Even other doctors have commented on the high quality of her work after seeing my leg! I have diabetes and she told me that her job was to save my leg and make sure I could walk again, and she has done both. Should anyone be unfortunate enough to have orthopedic surgery done, I hope you will be fortunate enough to draw Dr Andie.

04/02/14 5 5 5 5 Dr.Andie is wonderful! My husband had to have surgery in Toronto in Novemeber 2013 and a follow up appointment last week. Dr.Andie is a brilliant doctor that we in NovaScotia lost over funding. My husband required surgery for a disease he has in both feet.We did go see Dr.Glazebrook in Halifax and he didn't have many options for his feet basically keep them the way they were (constant pain) or amputate.Keep in mind my husband is 39 years old. When Dr.Andie came to NovaScotia we were told by another orthopedic surgeon to go see her as feet are her specialty. Finally we had hope and she convinced him to try the surgery..then before he had his surgery she told us that she would be leaving and we could follow her to Ontario.Long story short we did as this was our only option. Last weeks appointment went very well his 6 hour surgery is healing. We lost a spectacular doctor for NovaScotia!!! Sanela is a wonderful secretary too!! Thanks for everything! 24/01/14 5 5 5 5 I can't say enough about Dr. Veljkovic and her care. I punctured my calf on a nail and severed the saphenous vein. It was very serious and undoubtedly a very uncommon injury, but Dr. V knew exactly how to treat the injury. She is extremely knowledgeable and dedicated to her profession. I have made a full recovery in under 3 months. What made me write a review is Dr. V's ability to read her patients and make them comfortable and confident in their recovery. Dr. V immediately recognized how to treat the injury and how to treat me as a patient, and made my recovery as quick and effective as possible. I speak highly about her to my friends and colleagues and would recommend her to anyone needing an orthopedic surgeon. Thanks again Dr. Veljkovic. - Liam  Respond

I followed her from Nova Scotia to Ontario and I am extremely satisfied with the work that has been done. Before the operation I could barely walk but now 7 months after the procedure I feel as though I have my life back. I have the utmost respect and appreciation for Dr. Andie she is an excellent doctor and I would recommend her to anyone. Her bedside manner was second to none. 19/12/13 5 5 5 5 Dr. Andrea Veljkovic has been my surgeon and primary care practitioner throughout my accident (4 leg fractures). During that time, she has demonstrated her incredible skill, knowledge, compassion and friendliness. I highly recommend her. 05/12/13 5 5 5 5 I saw Dr Veljkovic on an emergency basis, with a trimalleolar fracture. The first time I met her was when I was being wheeled Into the OR. I immediately felt at ease with her, due to her confidence, knowledge and most importantly sense of compassion for what I was you going through. There are many Dr"s who are good but what makes a good Dr stand apart from an excellent Dr is people skills and just genuine concern for their patients. If you get the pleasure to have Dr Veljovic you will quickly realize she is excellent. My surgery went very well and due to the complexity of the break Ive had follow ups with her for the last 6 months. I'm happy to say my ankle is doing great and I'm on the road to recovery... thanks to Andy!!!  Respond

03/12/13 5 5 5 5 Dr Andrea Veljkovic is a highly competent, knowledgeable Dr who is confident and compassionate in her diagnosis and surgical procedures. She takes the time to explain in great detail how she plans to proceed in your particular situation. I have had two surgeries in Toronto for foot reconstruction with one additional surgery for ankle replacement or ankle fusion. I feel very fortunate to have Dr Andie looking after me and am looking forward to being able to walk without pain. I would also like to comment on her Admin Assistant, Sanela Jovic who is extremely efficient and articulate in working with patients and keeping things moving. 27/11/13 5 5 5 5 For twenty years I saw doctors who treated the diabetic ulcers on my feet caused by Charcot feet. It was not until I saw Dr. Veljkovic that I was offered surgical reconstruction to correct the degeneration in my feet and ankles that caused the ulcers to recur. My knee joints were also deteriorating from years of unnatural stress. I flew to Toronto to see Dr. Andie and she had extensive x-rays taken and did an examination. She said what she thought needed to be done in clear language, but she also wanted to have a CT scan to review. When she learned that my husband and I had a flight booked for home the following day she arranged for it within the hour and we saw her again to review the results and to confirm a treatment plan. Her ability to understand your situation, her caring personality and obvious capability instill complete confidence in the recommended treatment and her ability to perform it. I would highly recommend Dr. Andie to anyone, especially diabetics.

15/11/13 5 4 5 5 I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis for over 6 years. As a result of taking steroids (prednisone) my bones are brittle. I slipped and fell in January 2013 and suffered a compound fracture of the Tibia and Fibula just above the ankle in my right foot. At the fracture clinic of Toronto Western Hospital, the leg was set and healed. After a prolonged healing period the alignment of the foot and ankle was not satisfactory. Dr. Andie was brought in as her specialty is feet and ankles. She performed surgery to reconstruct and stabilize the right leg and ankle with titanium plates and screws on October 3, 2013. It is now 6 weeks and the cast has been removed. I am now in a boot cast and will start adding weight bearing in a week. Her assessment of the results is that it is better than what was expected. I want to add that Dr. Andie is an exceptional surgeon and is a caring, competent and wonderful physician. I would highly recommend her to anyone needing orthopedic surgery.

15/11/13 5 5 5 5 I have been a diabetic for 25 years. I have also been on dialysis for 4 years. As a consequence to a bone infection of my right foot, I was left unable to drop into work, to do groceries, to visit family or to engage in any meaningful social activity. My life was reduced to going into dialysis and coming back home. That was six months ago. It was then that I was advised to see Dr. V, who immediately recommended an urgent surgery of that foot. Six months later, not only did my wound heal with no complications (which is a miracle), I am also now able to drop into work, to visit family and to engage in my usual social activities. Throughout the past few months, I have interacted closely with Dr. V. She is indeed, as others say in this forum, a warm, compassionate, personable, highly intelligent, and meticulous surgeon. I cannot thank her enough and I cannot recommend her enough. Toronto Western Hospital and the city of Toronto are extremely lucky to have such a surgeon in their ranks!  Respond

05/11/13 5 5 5 5 Dr. Veljkovic is the best doctor I have met. Ever. Last month in Toronto she repaired a sports injury on my right knee that I could not get done in my home Province of Nova Scotia. I work in the Retail sector (on my feet) and I’m a part time drummer so legs and feet are important to me! I can’t imagine being treated by anyone else. Andie – you’re the best! Smart, thoughtful, caring and confident. Just hours after the arthroscopic procedure where Dr. Andie carefully trimmed my meniscus, I walked out of the hospital. I am from Ottawa about a 5 hour drive from Dr. Andi. She is worth the drive! We met the first time in May of 2013, other doctors had not been able to pinpoint why the usual treatment had not yet worked. She fixed the secondary injuries I had do to prolonged favoring of my right Achilles. Then when we decided to proceed with a surgical repair of the Achilles it happened quick. I had my surgery on September 2013 and am recovering quickly. I am now pain free for the first time in 19 months. 03/11/13 5 5 5 5 I was recommended to Dr. Andrea Veljkovic because I had a diabetic ulcer on the sole of my foot which got infected, including the bone. I needed urgent treatment; she discovered another issue that contributed to the problem - a stretched tendon. She promptly scheduled surgery, which was very successful, and now my recovery is progressing very well. She explained my problem, arranged for continuing treatment of the wounds and followed up very frequently. She was always very human, friendly and approachable. There are no words how lucky I feel, because now I see a light at the end of the tunnel; I suffered for two years with no clear solution to my problem. 02/11/13 5 5 5 5 Dr. Andie, as she likes to be called, was ( and still is my Doctor ) for about a year before the Government cut her funding ( operating time ) and she moved to Toronto. I was on a very long wait list here in N.S. when I was referred to Dr. Andie and was about to get an operation on my foot when this happened. After Dr. Andie was settled in Toronto she told me that I could to Toronto and have it done, which I am very thankful that she was able to do that. I had to have my heel reconstructed among a few other things , and if she hadn't done that 5 1/2 months ago, I would still be waiting for that operation here. 11/10/13 5 5 5 5 The ratings here - I rated Dr. Veljkovic 5's - are frankly not reflective of how great a doctor she is. My daughter went in to see Dr. Veljkovic with a broken bone after playing basketball on it all summer. The doctor managed to see her almost immediately and did an incredibly intricate surgery on her foot. My daughter's life and love (at the moment) is basketball and thanks to Dr. V she will play again. As the mother I have been impressed with her ability to explain to my daughter as well as to us what happened and what needed to be done. She is an excellent teacher to patients and has wonderful "bedside manner". I am particularly appreciative that she has been honest with us throughout the process.  Respond

07/10/13 5 5 5 5 This is my second time writing about Dr. V. My first was just post surgery. It is all to easy to say how wonderful a surgeon is based on how nice she may be and that her commitment and attention levels are exemplary, but what happens three months down the road. This is when we see how our recovery has been and what kind of follow up has been implemented.Today was my four month check following ankle surgery (very end of the process for all intents and purposes). The next step for me is to have the screw removed from my ankle as the healing is done. The point I want to make is that Dr. V. has been there every step of the way, consistently and reliably. I have full range of motion in my ankle and my strength is approx. 95% of what it was according to my estimation. The only thing holding my back is my occasional fear of falling again when I am on rough terrain. Otherwise, I am as good as new. This is what she estimated, predicted and delivered. She is an amazing surgeon.  Respond

28/08/12 5 5 5 5 Awesome Doc, Very thorough, made sure I understood exactly the proceedure she will be doing. I wish more doctors were like this.It is well worth traveling to see her. I will require several surgerys and already have a good feeling that I will be happy with the results.  Respond

03/08/12 4 4 5 5 Andrea (Andie) seems to be a very good young doctor and shows lots of promise. She is very friendly and easy to talk to. I have recommended her several times to colleagues and friends. Unfortunately, because she is so amicable, her patient load will likely increase dramatically thus making it increasingly difficult for her to continue in her interesting and unhurried manner.  Respond

30/07/12 5 5 5 5 The doctor actually took me in early, was thorough with her physical examination and spoke in layman's terms regarding explanations and options. Very knowledgeable in the mechanics of movement. There was no feeling of being rushed through the appointment. She lays out the percentage of results regarding surgery and although she makes her money through surgery she did not in my case recommend this as a choice of treatment. Follow-up appointments are prompt as well as further investigations.  Respond
