He is a fine doctor in terms of knowledge and bedside manner. He does not take a lot of time for useless chit chat and small talk, so if you want a friend go elsewhere. But if you want to be in and out efficiently with a knowledgeable doctor, he fits the bill! I also find it useful that you can see him on appointment or for last minute, you can wait for a walk in appointment.
Prescribed medicine for my kids without checking them. For my 6 year old prescribed adult dosage. Just rushes through the appointment. No value for time, have to wait 1 hour to see him. Avoid him at all costs.
We do NOT recommend this Dr. We were so excited to be accepted to a family practice after looking for a long while, and I personally chose to keep going to walk-ins after my first appointment with him. My husband stuck with him and went several times to see him (only because he has a chronic heath concern that requires monitoring), but was also always dismayed by his visits. Dr. de Silva does NOT listen, he is NEVER on time (often leaving us waiting for over an hour even with an appointment) and NEVER offered anything beyond the most basic of health care. He does NOT make any effort to familiarize himself with conditions he hasn't worked with before, he does NOT offer up-to-date or well-researched options and he does NOT suggest any testing or procedure that might require extra work or effort on his part. He should NOT be your family doctor, if you can avoid it.
Outright Incompetent doesn't listen to concerns just seems like he wants to bill OHIP and prescribe drugs to get kick backs (Non narcotic to avoid being red flagged and stay under the radar). He will argue with you and go against pharmacy knowledge and verified studies of drug side effects. Makes comments how he works almost for free so the government can give his money to the social programs. This doctor is a total waste of time ignores most of what is said just to get you out quick and bill for another patient. Almost seems as if he built his new walk in clinic to get new doctors in to gain residual income for when he retires in the next few years but also doesn't care about the people he sees other than for the OHIP billing and not their well being. Wonder how many died of cancer that complained to him for years while he ignored their issues that might have otherwise been able to get treated early and live. Seems very biased against the people he is suppose to serve.
Dr. DeSilva is a very professional, very helpful, understanding doctor...he answered all my questions, his receptionists are very friendly i would highly recommend him if you need to see a doctor! =)
