I have had Dr. Berens as my family doctor for the past five years, as have other family members. His knowledge is outstanding as well as thorough. He is patient with questions and offers clear and concise explanations in answer to those questions. He has an outstanding library of physicians to whom he can refer a patient for specialties in fields other than his own, physicians to which I have been referred to on various occasions with outstanding results. I have always had the utmost confidence in Dr. Berens medical advice and decisions which has engendered not only complete trust but also a pleasant and satisfying doctor/patient relationship. This guy is indeed horrible. He is very rude and extremely unprofessional. At times it was embarassing to go to hospitals and other area physicians only to have people repeatedly apologize for the fact he was the refering primary care md. As a person in the healthcare field I am exposed daily to professional clinical behavior and this Dr. Berens is not. My family member would frequently come out of his appointments in worse shape than when she went in due to his behavior. He even extended his awful behavior to my family members medical chart which our new primary MD was kind enough to show what Dr.Berens had been writing in her medical records. Particularly the last couple of visits when we finally had enough and began confronting him. We will be filing formal complaints with the Fl Dept of Health and the Fl Board of Medicine regarding his in appropriate behavior and improper clinical practices. Stay tuned...

I recently relocated to the area. I found Dr. Berens on the CIGNA website. I felt very comfortable there and his staff is very friendly and helpful. They handled my insurance information with out hesitation or hassle. Dr. Berens was very helpful and answered all my questions and was very personable. Hassle free and overall a very comfortable experience. I would recommend Dr. Berens and his staff to anyone.

Terrible-Horrible-NO-Good-Very-Bad-Doctor. He will show no courtesy or manners to his patients. He will make you feel extremely uncomfortable by showing lack of interest in anything you ask or say. He only cares for MONEY. He is more of a salesman that a doctor. He tried selling me hair loss pills (i have no signs of baldness) and facial services. For the most basic of physical exams, I was billed over $1200 of which my insurance company rejected their claim twice before finally accepting it. I discourage anyone from going to him. I honestly believe that the people that gave him positive reviews are his own staff members or very his very rich patients whom he was genuinely nice with for the potential money he can make off of them. But for a low-paid honest working family person, he will be rude, uninterested, and very unconcerned. Hope you read this before you go to him.

I have been a patient of Dr. Berens for a number of years. He is extremely knowledgable about many aspects of medicine and supports most information with detailed literature which he prints out and gives to the patient. No matter how many patients he has waiting, he never rushes through his appointments and devotes ample time to every patient he meets with. He is familiar with many kinds of specialists and will usually refer his patients to one if he feels they are better qualified to treat the patient for a specific medical condition. His staff is helpful, professional and always pleasant. His office is clean, well-organized and nicely decorated. Dr. Berens is always willing to listen to his patients and offer sound advice when asked but usually takes a no-nonsense approach when it comes to treatment plans, outside testing and follow-up appointments. I consider him a true professional and have recommended him to both family and friends.

This was the first time in my life,a doctor took so much of his time, to tackle my health problems one by one. I could not thank this doctore enough for his time, during the consultation. He listened to the prohblem, then I listened to him, of what he had to say, for I have many health issues. Not once during my visit did he leave to go see another patient.

I was referred to Dr. Berens by a friend who is a current patient. My overall experience was extremely positive. On greeting me he assured me that his patients are known by name (versus just being a number). He was was very thorough in explaining how he works and I received a detailed explanation of my examination. I received referals for lab work etc. and an appointment for next month. Dr. Berens spent time with me (I can assure you that this does not happen in every doctor's office). Yes I believe that I made the right choice and I believe my health concerns are now in caring hands. I look forward to my follou-up visit and yes, I would refer Dr. Berens to my family and friends. I have been seeing Dr. Berens as my general practitioner for approximately one year now. He is very thorough with every visit. From the initial intake through office visits and treatment Dr. Berens has provided outstanding medical service. He is also flexible with scheduling and has always been accommodating with appointments.

I am the type that can’t stand to go to the doctor, but when I had my motorcycle accident I went to DR. Abram Berens.
He mad me feel so conferrable. His staff is nice and the service was great. I will not step foot in any other doctors office

I found Dr. Berens many years ago, and is the best General Medicine doctor I have had ever! I never wait in the waiting room, and he gives me all the time I need to understand everything. His honesty and ability to talk plain english is wonderful. i fully recoomend him!!!!!

This guy really cares. I have been using him as my primary physician for about 3 years. He never rushes his time with me, explains issues thoroughly, and LISTENS. He also refers frequently to specialists and then follows up to make sure that he has gotten the information that he needs. Finally, he is prepared for my appointment; he has clearly reviewed my file before I arrive, knows what medical issues pertain to me (ahead of time)and asks pertinent questions. Then, as I said before, he listens.

Dr. Berens is very thorough and knowledgeable. He takes time to explain everything and answer all questions. If he refers you to another physician, he FAXes paperwork over so they're expecting you, and then follows up to make sure results are sent to him. His staff is great, too. I fully recocommend Dr. Berens.

Dr Berens has been my primary physician for more than 15 years. I have never had an unpleasant experience during this time. He and his staff are always very professional, and concerned about my well being. I never feel like I am being rushed in and out of the office. Dr Berens takes as much time as necessary to discuss any medical problems I may have. He also makes sure that I follow up on all tests and procedures that need to be done on a yearly basis. I feel very comfortable in recommending him to anyone seeking a primary care physician.

I was really scared when I went to see Doctor Berens. My sister said said that the cut on my toe was gushing blood and my toe was hanging. The Dr. was aleaving the office for the day when my dad called frantically. He said to come right over. The girls in the office had already gone home that day and he took great care of me. He made me calm and relax and let my family stay with me for support. He took x-rays, cleaned my foot, numbed it and sewed it perfectly. It hurt some but I think I was more scared too. I had been running in my room and sliced my baby toe on the trundle bed frame under my bed. The doctor took me off the softball field during the travel season but you can't even tell anything ever happened!!!!He was great!!!!!!Thx. From Chelsea age 11

Dr. Berens, is straight forward to the point and tells it like it is. If your looking for sugar coating go elsewhere. If you have a problem and want to get better,he's the one. If you have ever been to a doctor and felt rushed out this guy different. Wait time is minimal with an apppoinment. But once your in, it's over when you get up and walk out. His staff has recently changed for the better, I might add. Kudos to Dr. Berens and Staff.

I cannot begin to describe what a wonderful MD Dr Berens is. After YEARS of looking for a doctor who actually cares about his patients and takes the time to listen and find resolutions to their health problems, I have found a real GEM! And did I mention that he's an MD! Although his specialty is dermatology, I feel extremely fortunate to have Dr Berens as my primary care physician who is extremely intelligent and knowledgeable in ALL aspects of medicine. He and his staff are absolutely terrific!

Overall he is a good Doc. I use him as a PCP. I usualy get appts. when i need them. His staff is great. I learned to expect being there a while since it can take him a some time to get to you. I have to agree that sometimes he should remember who he is talking to Not every one is a doctor, or in the medical feild. The office is very clean and nice but the magazines are boring.

My experiece at Dr. Berens' office was very pleasant and rewarding. Dr. Berens is a brilliant doctor with a keen knowledge of all areas of medicine. Dr. Berens is an excellent physician. He is very professional,meticulous and no nonsense. He is highly committed to the well being of his patients. He will never blow off or minimize the medical concerns of his patients and always errs on the side of caution. Dr. Berens' expertise goes beyond dermatology, as I use him for my primary doctor. He maintains a thorough network of excellent specialists and will make referrals regularly. Punctuality is very good. Normally when I go to his office I am the only person in the waiting room and I am brought back fairly quickly. His staff as well is very professional, well organized and especially friendly. I highly recommend Dr. Berens as a primary and family doctor.

I must say that I was a little nervous at first but by the middle of my first appt I realized that there was no reason for it. Dr. Berens was extremeely thorough, exceptionally knowledgeable and clearly a hands on doctor. He was able to answwer all my questions, ease my concerns and handle any referrals easily. He spent more time with me than any doctor has in years. He handled all my paperwork and testing personally. My followup was a breeze. The staff was great and the office was immaculate. I am pleased to call him my doctor. Thank you!

Dr. Berens is wonderful. He takes his time and is very thorough in a consultation - explaining all procedures and medications and the reason for them. He a truly compassionate and knowledgeable doctor. His staff is also very friendly and helpful - returning phone calls promptly! I have been seeing him for over 12 years and highly recommend him. Since moving, I willingly travel an hour to see him.

Weather Cosmetic or family practice, I wouldnt doubt one minute to recomend Dr Berens and all of his staff. I drove 35 miles to see Dr. Berens for a rash -which he diagnosed in a very professional manner - and explained everything in layman's terms. He saw me on time, and took his time - did not rush, as other practices tend to do. His assistant was courteous and professional. State of the art office and practice. I would GLADLY drive 50 miles if I need to him again, and highly recommend him.

I rated Dr. Berens "best" in all categories because of his professionalism, his high standards and his attention to detail. Dr. Berens cares for all facets of my well being and I am treated as a person not a number. As a senior citizen it is refreshing to visit a Doctor's office where the staff is caring and I am respected as an individual. I tell Dr. Berens that he is a better doctor than I am a patient. I feel better and I look better because I am his patient.

SIMPLY AMAZING. How do you rate someone who has just saved your life????? There is no rating high enough. I see there are many positive postings here and a few (seem to be duplicates) negatives. I speak from my own experience...he recently diagnosed me with a rare disorder that 4 other doctors missed - that will ultimately cause death if left untreated. I am 39, female with two small children. I cannot define how incredibly competent he is. He is straightforward, listens to his patients (something I find lacking in any practice I've been to), is very knowledgeable and cares. He follows up with other specialists and will not let you leave his office until he has gotten these other doctors on the phone & provided them with any info about your medical condition. Simply amazing! I trust him implicitly. He has a lifelong patient in me, and my family. I could go on and on. To Dr. Berens and his amazing staff - THANK YOU!!! :-)

Dr. Berens is the best doctor that I've been to. He is very knowledgable in many areas of his profession. The office is run in an efficient, comprehensive professional manner. He uses technolgy to enhance his service to his patients. I could tell immediately that Dr. Berens takes his job seriously. Unlike most doctors that try to get you out of their office as soon as possible, Dr. Berens went far beyond my expectations by listening to my concerns, as well as extensively and thoroughly examining me. I am not sure about the motivation for some of the other comments on this board, but I would personally recommend Dr. Berens to my family and friends.

he is very rude he charged me 1200 4 a visit then 250 4 another visit then when he talked 2 me he was very rude. then he said i only had 2 mins 2 respond to what he had just said to me. so i started talking and he said the convo was going to stop very abruptly, so i said ok and i hung up on him first. DONT GO TO HIM....

Horrible bedside manner, made a pass at my wife. He is completely uninterested in helping patients. Our insurance didn''t cover the visit. Instead of asking us to pay the bill, he sent our bill to a collection agency. He refused to discuss his $2400 charge for a check-up to us, and would not work with us on any payment terms at all. He was rude and insulting during the consultation, and is completely unprofessional. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR!

He may be a good dermatologist but he is not a good primary doctor! He is rude and needs to learn how to talk to his patients properly. He's not forced to do any job he doesn't want to do, so if being a family practice doctor is too much for him he should stick to skin!
