Dr. Hayashi has been terrific, and I continue to recommend her to my colleagues. The previous comments from the angry person don't seem to make much sense. The office does have access to several diagnostic tests that seem to be missing from other offices (e.g. this was the first time I had a visual field test) -- this is generally a plus, not a minus. That said, if you have a high-deductible plan or one that only covers a limited portion of your bills (e.g. 70%), then visits to *any* doc in NYC are likely to be a surprising experience for your wallt. Dr. Hayashi's practice itself seems to be a pleasant, more-than-competent set of doctors and staff.

This doctor is absolutely awful; I went for a routine eye exam and got sacked with a huge bill. My insurance paid over $1,000 and I had to pay out of packet of over $300 – FOR A ROUTINE EYE EXAM!!!
The doctor’s office claimed that certain tests were done on my eyes and they NEVER DID THOSE TESTS!!! This is FRAUD. I am in a process of disputing this fishy claim. I will never go back to see this doctor and will post on as many sites as possible that this office submits false claims to insurance companies!!!

Dr Hayashi is what every doctor should aspire to be like. Intelligent, knowledgeable, caring and friendly. I could not believe how nice she was, as she took the time to explain the test results, answering my questions fully, without any sense of rush or annoyance experienced with other physicians.
Her office staff is also friendly and very efficient. I could not recommend her more highly!

Wow, I can't believe there's a doctor there that spends her time with you. I must have been with her for 30-45 min and she didn't rush to get out. At first I was nervous but she made me feel really comfortable.

Very knowledgeable and patient doctor. I never see a eye doctor will spend her time explain your symptoms and how you can treat it. Although you will have to spend some time for first time there. It's worth it.

Dr Hayashi and her staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I had the most thourough eye exam ever! Be prepared to spend two hours there your first time. Well worth it though!

One of the best doctors I know - very knowledgeable, patient and caring. She makes sure that one feels very comfortable and understands the problem. She actually suggested that I look for a second opinion if I have any doubts about the suggested treatment. The staff is also very friendly. It is a very busy office and there was a delay on my first appointment, but I am glad to admit that the next were okay.

I was referred by my primary care doc, but I wound up seeing the other eye doctor in her office due to a scheduling mix-up (not her fault) at first. Make sure you see Dr. hayashi, even though she's the younger one. I am not quite sure why the other doctor's bedside manner is so different. But, everything turned out okay in the end. I recommend Dr. Hayashi to most of my co-workers, but just double-check that you'll be seeing her when you schedule the appointment.

My general doctor told me about her. She's a good doctor, really easy-going and friendly. She seems like she has a lot of patients (which is probably a good thing, I guess), but things moved along quickly (even when I had two special eye tests to do). Gave me some sample. Also, she used to have some evening hours (nice because I work during the day), but I think those appointments get booked fast.

i agree with the other reviewers; dr. hayashi is a very warm and caring physician. i had an unusual eye issue, it turned out, but she explained it to me in simple terms without dumbing it down... tough to explain, but i like her style. wish more doctors were like that. the office was packed but i was still seen quickly. they also have a good parking discount at the garage in the same building... which i wish i had known about ahead of time! so -- finally, i think she needs to be commended for being honest (and this is why i believe her other ratings now): she actually counselled me against LASIK! i'm sure she could have made more money by having me have it done, but she explained the issues. i was a little ticked at first, but then after talking it over i was thankful that she was thinking about my safety isntead of just making money. i trust this doctor and wish there were more like her.

good doctor and she saw me on time both times. very nice staff. they helped me with some insurance questions. they also provided transportation to the surgery.

Busy office, with a zillion pieces of high-tech equipment, but all the staff were nice and Dr. Hayashi really took the time to explain everything to me and made me feel at ease. Plus she gave me some samples. Definitely going to recommend her to my friends.

A genuinely caring doctor. Answered all my questions. Has new equipment and a clean office. The exam was gentle. The receptionist was very friendly and helped me get an appointment in the morning before work.
