:) Click to report rating *  11/3/09 4 4 5 Dr McDaniel took care of my pap smear and another problem that had plagued me for years, so I give her a five for knowledge, and she gave me the prescriptions I needed immediately so I gave her a five for helpful.I was expecting to have to deal with difficult staff, but they drew my blood very professionally--like most of us, i hate needles. The Dr and her staff were polite and took care of my issues, so I'm recommending her, for now.

:) Click to report rating *  11/3/09 4 4 5 i was worried about seeing this doctor because of some of the comments but she was really really nice and pleasant! the visit was smooth and the exam was super quick and easy. she was very detailed and asked alot of questions both on the computer information and when she came into the room. i felt she was professional but also very down to earth. pleasantly surprised and happy.

:) Click to report rating *  8/28/09 3 4 5 my whole visit was way better than i expected. the staff were so so--they sent me to a computer portal to enter my medical history, which, by the way, made my 30min wait seem like 5 mins--i like. the Doctor was very smiley and pleasant. she gave me way more info than i needed, but the my examination was really smooth. the best part, a full year prescription ad it went ahead of me electronically to my own pharmacy--all in all--impressive

:) Click to report rating *  3/5/09 5 5 5 As the HR Manager at my firm, I am often asked by new hires during orientation to recommend doctors and dentists in the area. I have been a patient of Dr. McDaniel's for the past three months, and would not hesitate to recommend her & her staff to my female employees (and have done so already)!!

:(   *  2/16/09 1 2 1 Dr. McDaniel is a horrible Gyn to deal with. She rushes through your visits, talks extremely fast, answers your questions using medical language that anyone who did not go to med school does not understand. She doesn't take your complaints seriously and prescribes the same medication over and over again even if it does not work. She never calls with results, but expected you to call and make another appointment so you can pay more money and listen to her speak quickly in another language. I went to her for two years because her office is located across the street from my work and it was so convenient, but after all my problems, that she does not take seriously or even attempt to fix I am done.

:) Click to report rating *  2/8/09 3 3 4 Dr. McDaniel has been my gynecologist for over three years. Visiting a gynecologist has always been very uncomfortable for me. But I have become more at ease with Dr. McDaniel, especially because she is a woman of color, like myself, and her office is very conveniently located. She may be a bit "too efficient" at times, but I am always prepared in addressing my concerns to her and she always listens and advises me.

:(   *  6/11/08 2 2 1 I have to agree with the above negative reviews and also add that I was incorrectly treated for a very serious condition. I came to Dr. Mcdaniel with the symptoms of a pelvic infection and was given only one of the three antibiotics I needed to be treated, and the one I was given was not prescribed for the adequate length of time. This is a very serious and time-sensitive condition and I did damage to my reproductive system as a result of her incorrect treatment. She did many things wrong, including not recommending blood work to determine the cause of the infection (necessary) or even scheduling a follow-up, which is essential to monitor treatment. If treatment did not work, within days I should have been admitted to the hospital. The condition abated (after two months) only to return a few months later. Luckily I was able to find a knowledgeable doctor at that point who was appalled, as I was, by the shockingly ignorant treatment and procedure of this doctor.

:) Click to report rating    6/8/08 4 3 4 I'veseeing Dr. Mcdaniel for about 5 years now and I think she is an excellent docto, well knowledgeable and knows what she is about. She sometimes seems rushed but that's ok because no none wants t sit exposed for a length of time. As for her sterilizing her instruments,I have no doubt that Mcdaniel takes every precaution, after all she works in the in the hospital not just her office.I know for a fact that she is no longer doing OB just gyn and cosmetic surgery. I have a couple of aquaintances whose had surgery done by her. You reviewers may not like to much my review, but hey, give the doctor her due, she's good and her staff is well educated and organized, her office ia always clean and comfortable, so its little that her bedside manner is not 100%.

:(      6/7/08 2 3 1 Is this Dr. sterilizing her speculums? She keeps them in a draw under the table she examines you on. I found about 5 speculums on a piece of tissue paper in the draw. One of the speculums was used on me. Were all the speculums in the draw used or clean? If they were clean, why did she put the used one, used one me back in? Also, there was a tube of lube in there that was open and there was lube on the tissue paper. I went in one week for a yeast infection and came back a week later for a bacterial infection. Could I have gotten the bacterial infection from an re-used speculum? I didnt have the bacterial infection during the first time. Has anyone had a similar experience? Please comment. If re-using speculums -it could put our lives in danger.

:) Click to report rating    5/2/08 4 2 5 The doctors I've seen for the last 20 years are a mixed bag as far as medical knowledge and bed-side manner go--some are good; some not so good. I'm loyal to the doctor that treats my ailments quickly; I leave the doctors that are not detail oriented. McDaniel's bedside manner may not match her medical knowledge--so what! Her abilities as a doctor, practicing medicine are unquestionably excellent--that's why I'm a loyal patient. McDaniel rushes me sometimes, but I know she's got the experience to make that ok--going slowly usually means your a beginner!

:) Click to report rating    4/22/08 1 3 3 I saw her when I got pregnant and had a few visits before switching to an obgyn. I only went because her location was so convenient for me. I went back a few times which is why she was so nice to me. She was knowledgable and never condescending but sometimes rushed. From these reviews, I can see that she's money hungry. I hate her staff. Don't go if you're pregnant, it will cost you. Just go to an obgyn.

:(      4/21/08 2 2 1 Dr. McDaniel was short and condescending. When she told me I had a yeast infection, I had lots of questions, as I'm relatively young and have never been diagnosed with one before. She had little patience for my questions, and instead directed me towards a brochure on the subject. She said nothing about having my partner treated as well to prevent future reinfection, and also did not so much as mention the HPV vaccine to me. She made disparaging comments about the appearance of my vagina, and when, on my way out, I noticed all of the vaginal rejuvenation laser surgery pamphlets, I realized why. The staff was rude and unhelpful. When I asked for clarification about notifications for abnormal pap smears, the response was an agitated, "Didn't you read the notification policy?" I was beyond pissed at the whole experience, and will not be returning.

:|      4/9/08 2 3 2 I've had a similar experience as other reviewers -- unfriendly staff, long wait, Dr. is rushed, etc. One thing that particularly bothers me about Dr. McDaniels is the abundance of G-shot and cosmetic vaginal surgery pamphlets/posters around the office. I was also told Dr. McDaniels no longer offers the Gardasil shot (!!!). All this, plus her policy of 6-month BC prescriptions (more visits, more $$) makes it clear that she's more interested in maximizing her profits than caring for patients' health. Also -- how about splurging for a few gallons of paint to fix up the dumpy exam rooms? I feel like I'm taking my clothes off in a supply closet. Gross.

:| Click to report rating    4/1/08 2 1 1 I hate going to the GYNO, like most people, and it's not made easier by a Dr. like McDaniel. I agree with all of the previous negative feedback posted on this site; bedside manner, punctuality, I would add she's condescending and has very limited interpersonal skills. The only thing about this Dr. that's positive is that she is knowledgeable, and she likes to let you know it too. In comparison to her the front desk staff is great, and that's not saying much. I went in for my annual checkup, and ended up finding out I have to have a dermoid cyst the size of an egg taken out of my ovary. I promptly went on a search for a new Dr. not wanting to have to deal with McDaniel any further. I am 28 and have always been as healthy as a horse, news of having surgery was a huge blow to me. I know other people have it worse, but you cannot not compare pain, she treated me like I was the most ridiculous person when asking her my questions. PLease go to someone who cares about you, not your wallet!!!!

:(      3/26/08 1 1 1 The office is poorly organized and staffs are extremely rude. She doesn't return calls, it would take days for her to answer a simple question. I've been going to her for 2 years now, I blame myself for not switching doctor sooner, given that she knows my medical history an all, I thought changing doctor would be a pain. I trusted her but the longer I know her the more I feel she has no interest in her patients whatsoever. She wasted tons of my time and money, but none of that compare to the fact that she put my health at risk.

:) Click to report rating    3/19/08 2 3 2 Doctor doesn't return calls and if she does it will be some-one for her staff not the doctor herself. The receptionist is rude. I also did some research on this doctor and I see that she has one Medical Malpractice case that is pending and two that has settled.

:) Click to report rating    2/4/08 1 1 5 I like the fact that Dr. McDaniel knows what she is talking about and was quick with my PAP. DO not like the fact that BC prescrip's are for 6 months. I had to come back for colposcopy, which I have never had and was fearing for my life. She made me comfortable during the actual procedure but before she started I was laying there with the clamp in me all alone for about 10 minutes. (Hurt like hell) When she left she swung the door open, with me barely covered, to be exposed to most of the waiting room. If you just need to go in for a PAP and to get a prescription refilled I would definitely recommend her. She will answer any questions quickly and helpfully. BUT as far as how you will feel with the whole office / gyno experience, it will be rushed and make you uncomfortable.

:) Click to report rating    2/4/08 2 1 4 I've been going to this doctor for years because she's conveniently located, but as much as I like the doctor, the office is very poorly run. I've never been seen on time yet, even though I always arrive early for my appointments. It has happened that the staff messes up the files and lets people who arrived recently go in to see the doctor before people who have been waiting for much longer. I always speak up and get in there to see the doc, but I've seen other women just sit there and wait for their turn politely and they are still sitting there when I'm through and leaving. You have to speak up for yourself at this place. The other problem is that the doc only gives a 6 month supply of birth control, causing you to go in for visits very frequently. It's annoying when I have to sit in the waiting room for 45 minutes only to be written a renewal prescription for the next 6 months.

:( Click to report rating    1/23/08 1 1 1 I had to swtich doctors due to a job change. I absolutely loved the OBGYN i was using before. I switched to Dr. McDaniels because I was referred to her by a friend. When the front desk called to remind me about my appt they were automatically rude. When i got there they were ****y and when i left they were ****y. I thought it was just the nurses but than I saw Dr. McDaniels and she also was ****y. Everyone in that office, including the doctor is RUDE, COLD, UNAPPROACHABLE, and certainly not comforting. i will NEVER go back to that hell hole..let alone a dump of an office.

:| Click to report rating    1/19/08 1 3 3 I went to Dr. McDaniel once to get a new BC prescription. The dr. wrote the wrong name on my prescription and I didn't realize until I got to the pharmacy. My pharmacist was unable to get ahold of her for days. Then when it finally got filled there was a problem with my insurance and they would not cover it. I needed to have a new prescription written and went to the office to inquire about it on my lunch break. I told the woman at the desk the situation and she told me to sit down and wait--as if she was going to take care of it right away. I hadn't expected that so I waited. I waited an hour (my entire break) then went to the counter and told her I had to leave. She responded with incredulous attitude "so what you want me to do?" I was so taken aback I literally felt like crying. I asked her if someone could call me later (which is what I expected in the 1st place had she not told me to sit as if she would handle the problem right then). It worked out but I refuse to go back.

:( Click to report rating    1/17/08 3 1 2 Dr. McDaniel was pretty good at the pap smear. She talked me through it because I was nervous. I also felt like she listened to me but did not make too many inquiries. I don't know if that's good or bad. After my pap, she disappeared. I had no idea about follow-up, prescriptions, whether I needed bloodwork, etc. I had to seek out a nurse to get some answers. Dr. McDaniel could definitely be more thorough and instructive with her scared and nervous patients like me, but for a normal pap smear checkup, she's passable and nice.

:| Click to report rating    12/17/07 1 1 3 I have been going to Dr. McDaniel for many years and am very disappointed. The staff, particularly the woman who answer the phone, are rude and unhelpful. It is impossible to get Dr. McDaniel to call you back and the staff does a poor job at relaying information between me and her. Almost ever time I have an appointment she meets with me atleast 45 minutes after the scheduled time. The walls are paper thing and once in the exam room you can easily hear her conversations with other patients. Overall I think she is a very knowledgeable doctor and knows her stuff. However, the attitude that her staff give on the phone and in person leave a little less to be desired. I feel as though she can make more of an effort to directly return phone calls instead of having the staff do it. After seeing Dr. McDaniel for about 6 years I have decided to move on to someone that is more attentive towards there patients needs and keeps there staffs attitude inline.HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT!!!!!!!

:( Click to report rating    12/5/07 1 2 1 The 1st visits were rushed but figured that’s just the way it is when you doublebook. The staff is unorganized & for my procedure the doctor confused me for another patient that has children(I never have). She rushed thru it without letting the numbing kick in & when i cried in pain she told me she couldn’t have me screaming cause people were out in the waiting room & didn’t want them scared off.I couldn’t take the pain anymore & told her to stop.she then left, with everything on the tray exposed. After the "bloodbath" I wanted to talk to her but she looked at me like she didn’t know who i was,& rudely told me I had to wait to be called in.Finally I was able to ask my concerned questions while she read other peoples charts & signed papers, never looking at me once. She refused to get involved in discussing my options cause it was "a waste of energy to speculate" yet.I recently got my results but not going back to her.Its awful, but relieving that I’m not the only one she treated this way.

:) Click to report rating    11/30/07 3 3 5 I don't agree at all with the negative comments people have made! Me and several of my friends all have been seeing the Dr. for sev. yrs and she's THE BEST! Very helpful, warm, knowledgeable and if you ever have extra questions she'll bring you into her office after the exam and answer (additionl 30 min for mine)until everything is taken care of. Me and my 6 girlfriends have all only had very positive experiences with her and I actually had cervical problems and had to have a leep surgery which was initially very scary but she really helped to make me feel comfortable. A friend of mine called and got a first visit appoint the same day. She does write while she's talking to you but she told me she'll forget the details if she doesn't write as she's getting your info. She makes a lot of eye contact with me while she's writing and I'd rather the doctor get the right info and ask lots of quest than not take notes, not get any info! PS I got all 3 guardisil shots from her office NO PROBLEM!

:(      11/29/07 1 1 1 Doctor's staff is incompetent as well as rude and negligent. Doctor is helpful, but always rushed because patients are backed up. Could take 1+ hour after your appointment time to see doctor. As she is rushed, she's in and out and asking the staff for help is useless. The doctor and her staff did not know the proper time frame for Gardasil. I was also promised a second and third dosage only to be told the day before my second appointment that they were "all out" and I'd have to seek another doctor who had it or pay for the medicine out of my pocket. The staff was completely apathetic, which is not what you expect from a health care team member. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

:| Click to report rating    11/7/07 1 3 2 While the doctor may be knowledgeable, her bedside manner is awful. I felt rushed the 5 minutes she saw me and was so flustered forgot my questions I wanted to ask. She switched my BC prscrption to a brand name pill that I hate and have to pay more for. I am currently arguing with her office as I want to be switched to my old, generic BC. Her staff is NOT pleasant at all. After paying a $96 bill (insurance deductible) in June, I was told in October I could not make an appointment due to my $96 balance. I paid in cash, at the office and had my receipt to prove it. I am currently looking for a new OB/GYN as I am extremely dissatisfied with Dr. McDaniel's office.

:( Click to report rating    8/3/07 3 2 1 I saw Dr. McDaniel on the recommendation of a friend, who had seen her for routine check-ups but never for a medical problem. There were at least six patients waiting to see the Dr when I arrived at the office. The Dr was rushed in discussing my concerns with me, did a quick exam and then ordered blood tests and said she would write two prescriptions. I was sent to the waiting room and waited 20 minutes before being told that the Dr has forgotten to write the scripts. Was informed I had to wait until she was done with the next patient. I waited another 15 minutes and was then handed only one of the two scripts (the Dr again forgot the second). No apology for wasting my time. Weeks later when I called to discuss problems I was having with the prescription, I was told that the Dr will not speak to patients on the phone and that the next appointment was not available for three weeks. I will be looking for a new doctor.

:( Click to report rating    7/18/07 4 4 2 the docotr is pretty bad, i thought it was me. hte best thing she has going for her is that it is centrally located, she takes insurance, and its easy to get an appointment. if you need to see someone wucik and in a hurry, go. but she is noone to go to regularly. I don't want to put my business out there , but I really feel like her carelessness put my health at risk. It's not that i didn't "like" her, but I simply don't trust her. Don't put your health and well-being in her hands!!!!

:) Click to report rating *  5/17/07 3 4 I had no problem getting an appointment for when I needed it. Didint have to wait weeks to she her. Meeting the doctor for th first time she was very nice and listening to everything I had to say. She took her time and I didnt feel rushed. Her staff was very nice. I always having trouble when having my blood drawn but they were able to get it right the first time. I plan on keeping her as my doctor.

:) Click to report rating    5/15/07 3 3 She's a competent and nice dr. but her office is not run efficiently and she seems to be overbooked and too busy. One of the nurses was unhelpful and had an attitude. I had blood tests done there and nearly passed out after she stuck me 3x and I had asked her for water but she forgot about me. Luckily another nurse was able to take over and finish my blood testing.

:( Click to report rating    5/14/07 3 1 I've been to Dr. McDaniel several times. She was very casual about my health concerns, and when I called to get my test results, I was informed that I would have to fax a request in, which they would mail to me or fax back to me. They wouldn't let me come in to get them in person, and when I called to see why they hadn't faxed them back, the very rude assistant told me that they were legally required to send it back within 6 weeks. This was in regard to what the Dr. casually and with a smiled referred to as a growth. When I asked further questions, she didn't answer them and rushed through our visit. On a previous visit, the new nurse probed for a vein to draw blood and left an enormous bruise that lasted over two weeks. Unhelpful staff, poor bedside manner.

:( Click to report rating    4/25/07 1 1 While the doctor might be smart and skilled, her bedside manner is not at all what the others say - the doctor was too busy writing to even look at patient. And, even worse -- the office staff. Very unhelpful. I'm switching doctors now and my new doctor said that it's common practice to extend prescritions to tide over until next appointment. Dr. McDaniel refused which I find unbelievable. Patient is completely disappointed and would not recommend this doctor at all.

:) Click to report rating    2/22/07 5 4 I've been to a few gyns and Dr. McDaniel is one of the best in terms of bedside manner, patience and knowledge...and organization. I went to her for prenatal care and wished that she did ob/gyn so I wouldn't have to switch docs.

:) Click to report rating    1/3/07 5 5 She was great and I would go back to her. My appointment was the same week in which I scheduled it. She seemed warm and friendly and took the time to explain things to me. I didn't feel rushed and I didn't sense that she was arrogant or condescending at all. The staff are okay...not the warmest people you've ever met but i really don't expect them to be because they usually aren't.

:(      9/4/06 3 1 The staff including the doctor herself and the nurse are unfriendly and unhelpful. My experience (two visits) with Dr McDaniel were unpleasant. She is always rushed (she is one of those people who speaks at you rather than to you) and leaves little time for questions. I also felt that her tone was condescending and rude at times. I had a question about one of my test results and requested to speak to the doctor and I was treated like I was being completely unreasonable and was told that she does not take phone calls by her patients. This was probably one of my worst experiences with a doctor in NYC and am currently in the process of finding a new Ob/gyn.

:) Click to report rating    8/16/06 5 5 This was the best experience I've had with a dr. in NYC. I was seen the same week I called, I only had to wait 5 min in the waiting room and 5-10 in the exam room. Dr. McDaniel really took her time explaining my diagnosis and options. I did not feel rushed, and she asked a lot of questions to pinpoint my problems. As for the other posts here, I WAS told that the Dr. did not accept CC or check, and to bring my insurance card or be responsible for the payment.

:(      6/19/06 3 1 Approintment was confirmed by phone with Secretary Juliette on June 19, 2006 at 12:30pm for a case of infection with pain. This was a first visit. Patient used her one hour lunchtime, skipping lunch, and took a taxi to midtown. When patient arrived without insurance card, secretary informed she will have to pay $75 in cash and that the doctor does not accept credit cards or checks. Only cash. This was not informed beforehand during the phone appointment; the patient did not have the cash and left back to work, WITHOUT having been treated, without lunch and with $20 of taxi expenses. When the complaint was put to the doctor, she was arrogant, said her assistant was not supposed to squeeze in patients and did not let me talk. A most disgusting experience. Not only does it reflect on the poor values of the doctor herself but also on the poor values of her entire office, the way it is run and the way they treat patients. Such doctors do not deserve their title.
