I found Dr. Lederman online. I went in for acne treatment, and now look 5 years younger. #1: Let's be real: at any Dr.'s office, you have to wait. #2: yes, she did recommend her products...but by goly!!!!! THEY WORK!!!!! My first impression of her was that she was very busy, but in my consult she took the time to listen to all of my concerns, and even had the courtesy to insist on knowing if there was anything else I wanted her know about. The prescriptions I got worked incredibly well. My skin looks better than ever. Her personnel is extremely friendly. They all work together to ensure you leave satisfied...and I did and still do, every visit.

I wouldn't have minded the wait if I hadn't seen several patients who arrived after me finish before I even got in. But listen - I went for a skin check. I am very fair and really need to be looked over thoroughly. Well, Dr. Lederman walked in, picked up the bottom of my shirt, looked at my face, and announced I had nothing wrong with me. I can't believe any dermatologist worth anything would think that's sufficient for a fair-skinned person who put on her medical history that she HAD PRE-CANCEROUS MOLES REMOVED IN THE PAST.But she would have had to read my chart first, which was nowhere to be seen in or out of the room. Then I asked about a spot on my throat, which turned out to be an ingrown hair, but that was after she grabbed a sharp tool and without one second of disinfecting began scraping at my skin so hard that the slice is still raw and bleeding. STAY AWAY!!!

I went to Dr. lederman for the first time and while waiting for over 1 hour I was put into the examination room. while waiting I over heard the doctor asking all her patients to go on to a web site with her name and to write about how great she and her staff are.. I am a witness..well let me tell you she is the worse unless you came for cosmetic procedure , she goes in and out in minute has no interest if you are not spending any money , and why would you go to her anyway, every doctor is doing it much cheaper and better . . those great reviews don't believe them it's her and her staff.

I never really go online to "rate" anyone or anything of the sort, but I was so impressed with my visit to Dr. Lederman, that I felt like I wanted to share my delightful experience. The moment I walked in I was greeted right away. There was a bit of a wait but nothing in excess to any typical doctors visit. The Doctor was extrememly knowledable and helpful in meeting my needs. The staff was very personable and honest. Very freindly. I was quite shocked when I logged on to share my experience to see such negative comments. My only guess is that some people are just never pleased. I will continue to visit Dr. Lederman and would highly recommend her.

For my first few visits I saw a horrible PA who could care less about the patients & failed to follow up on a question she promised to answer for me.I finally got an appointment with Dr. L &, after waiting over an hour, she hardly looked at me during the visit. She didn't even bother to introduce herself or the girl who accompanied her during my exam (& this girl kept opening & closing the exam room door while I was undressed).I told Dr. L about something on a part of my body that I was concerned about,& she said "oh yeah, I saw that & that's diagnosis x" when she hadn't even seen that part of my body because it was covered. When she said it she said it was something completely different. She was obviously in a hurry & didn't bother taking her time to give an appropriate exam & was rude. I also had a problem with a prescription (it was supposed to be called in to my pharmacy & it wasn't) & my poor pharmacist was transferred from person to person for 25 min. before he hung up the phone!

I used to go to Lederman; she is an abrupt arrogant and very unprofessional. The only positive comments are here own writing. Darlene just pushes products and wants to know your business. I would not ever recommend her or anyone. I came in for a spot on my arm and the only thing she was talking to me was about Botox; she and her staff only care for money.

I have seen Dr. Josiane Lederman multiple times over the past few years. I have always found her to be personable and quite concerned with as well as interested in my skin issues and problems, whether cosmetic or not. In addition, I must also credit Darlene who is exceedingly ingratiating and most helpful. I recommend this doctor, without reservation, to all readers of this site seeking a competent, knowledgable and skillful dermatologist.

What a great experience! The staff is attentive and supportive. The front desk staff, 2 amazing bright , articulate and helpful women, guided me through the registration practice. The in office staff helped me to understand what would happen and made me feel at ease. The doctor, a Dr. Lederman was extremely knowledgeable and did not waste my time with useless information. She came in the room, observed, diagnosed my situation, and prescribe treatment which has proved very effective! Thank you all at this great office! I would recommend this doctor and practice to people who are serious about great health care and no nonsense!

I couldn't tell you if the doctor knew what she was doing or not. All I know is that she didn't see me. Who I thought was the doctor was a PA. The doctor wasn't even in the office. The PA looked at me for two seconds and wrote me a prescription. I don't mind seeing a PA at the general doctors office, but I was there to see a Dermatologist. This was the first time in her office and now the last. I will tell everybody how unprofessional and rued the staff is. I just wish I could have read these reports before I wasted two and a half hours. No Thanks.

I read some of these harsh reviews,& thought to myself, how sad. The common thread that kept resonating was "I waited sooo long, She/office wasn't nice enough, etc." Not that she doesn't know her sItuff, not much complaint about THAT. SHE'S DAMN GOOD. I first went to Dr.Lederman three years ago for a terrible rash on my face after seeing a specialist in Manhatty. I was seen for 15 mins and given a cream. I left with $475 less in my purse and my rash? Worsened. Dr. Lederman diagnosed me instantly, the lotion she gave me worked, AND she takes my insurance. She takes MOST insurance! Yes,I had to wait to see her but let's face it she's GOOD! So, she's busy! I wait to see most doctors. I found her to be direct and self assured. Perhaps some people need to be coddled. I received that on my last visit from the NY doctor and was left a large bill and no cure for my rosacea. NO THANKS. Bonus: SHE GAVE ME FREE SAMPLES THAT SAVED ME A TRIP TO THE PHARMACY, NICE SAVINGS! I'll keep coming back..ty :)

She new exactly what i had, as well as taking her time with me and explaining everything to me. I must say i haven's felt this comfortable in a doctors office in a long time. I wuld recommend anyone to her. The staff was very nice to me and were always smiling.

Do yourself a huge favor. Read and absolutely believe all of the negative reviews that were written here and disregard any positive ones. The good ones were undoubtedly written by her friends, family or paid help. I have never in my entire life (60+ years) experienced a doctor who came off as less involved, seemed less interested in the reason for my visit or blew in and out of the examination room faster, after a 2 1/2 hour wait mind you, than the good Dr. Lederman. She was rude and arrogant. If she was the last specialist in her field on Staten Island, I would much prefer to make a trip to N.Y.C. (or Califormia for that matter) to see someone else, anyone else. Disgraceful.

This doctor's office just lost my entire immediate & extended family. I went in today with my husband & 8 month old baby for all of us to have a 9:30 appt and told them when I checked in that we had to be somewhere else at 12noon. The front desk personnel told me she would check into it and let me know, an hour later I asked again, again she said she would look into it. Finally, the 2nd hour later at 11:30, my husband decided we had to leave and couldn't wait anymore. They were rude, non-attentive, never even got back to me about a realistic wait time. We heard that the Dr. didn't even arrive to the office until 10:30am and the first people she saw were the drug reps waiting in the waiting room over her patients! Why waste patients time like that? Our time is very valuable too and to show such an utter disrespect of a patients time is completely UNACCEPTABLE! DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR, YOU WILL JUST BE WASTING YOUR TIME!!!

Unprofessionalism times infinity. I waited 2+ hours to see this woman, only to first encounter two of her PAs who came off like they were the dermatologist. After I asked to see the doctor, they went off in a huff and fifteen minutes later, I was shifted to another room where I waited for a half hour to see Lederman. None of her staff nor her introduced themselves when they waltzed into the room like they were on a runway. Instead, I had to identify who was who by literally asking them if they were doctors. I spent maybe a total of 5 minutes with her before she rudely dismissed me by leaving the room and directing all my questions to another physician in scrubs (after I asked to make sure). Those who have posted good comments about her are very lucky, or probably have good insurance. I am a Medicaid patient. Maybe she or her staff thinks I'm either naive or unintelligent, but my soon to be acquired law degree didn't have to tell me that NOBODY deserves to be treated this way. Avoid!

I saw Dr. Lederman last week for an emergency skin rash --when no other doctor was able to accomadate the emergency nature of my call. I was so thrilled with the service I received from her and her staff. Upon reading previous postings I disagree with the negative comments and think that people on here should be honest and not waste their time and energy being so miserable.

I have to say all previous comments posted are correct. The bottom line is if you visit Dr. Lederman for say cosmetic or spa treatment this is the place to go, but if you feel you have a serious skin aliment then go elsewhere. The staff was courteous to me, but it was clear they were more interested in selling me spa treatment. The front desk staff we all very nice and good looking, but the wait was way to long anyway. Once you get into a room a spa consultant sees you first to sell treatments. Once the Doctor shows up she does take a quick look, says something and leaves. It was kind of comical. I personally would not go back if I feel I again have a serious skin issue, but if I ever decide I want a 100.00 Man's facial this is the place I will go.

Too raise Lederman's rating she and her staff compliment themself non-stop. She is arrogant self centered, obnoxious and rude. Her staff is not very professional, they act and treat you as if you are a nobody, they make you wait in the waiting room for over an hour to be seen. She should go back too where she came from.

Dr. Lederman really knows her stuff. Excellent physician. Vey effective. She treated me for rosacea and found a solution that improved the quality of my life greatly. I feel so much better about myself as a result. It was important to me that she sees her patients directly rather than sending a resident in training to diagnose you, and that she doesn't judge or make comments about whatever medical problem you are there to discuss; she just treats/solves the problem, end of story. I also found her staff to be helpful and nice, and knowledgeable. Sometimes you do have to wait to see her--but this may be common in dermatology.

I have been seeing Dr. Lederman for many years. I go pretty regularly to the dermatologist and she is the only Dr. I would trust. She has always been professional and courteous to me. I have been happy with every procedure/ treatment and diagnosis. No matter how big or small my problem was, she successfully solved all of them. I have had medical problems that were covered by my insurance and had cosmetic procedures that I paid out of pocket for. There was no difference in how her or her staff treated me. She always took the time to listen and properly diagnose me. Her staff have also been professional. No matter how busy they are, they always help you in person and on the phone in a professional matter. In the past the wait was sometimes long but in the recent year or so the wait has been dramatically less. The last 4 visits or so I waited less then 20 minutes.

I wish I had seen the remarks at this site before I went to Dr. Lederman several years ago. I have never seen such greed and unprofessionalism in a doctor. I waited 2 hours in the waiting room before I was brought into an examining room. After about 20 minutes and still no sign of the good doctor I went to the reception desk and demanded a return of my co-payment since I had to leave in order to get to work. The receptionist jumped up and went into the room where the doctor was with another patient. Faced with the prospect of losing a billing opportunity, doctor L. promptly ran out(leaving the patient she was with) to come into my examining room, looked at my problem area, made a snap diagnosis and left. Needless to say I never went back. What amazes me is that she is still in practice -- how many first-time patients can there possibly be?

I found reading all of the entries here quite interesting. I used to work for Lederman many years ago....and I ran from her practice. Not only does she have little regard for her patients (unless your getting a money making cosmetic procedure) she treats her staff HORRIBLY. She pays pennies and expects alot in return for those pennies. Not to mention she always treated us like we were all stealing from her.I'm just really glad other people see her for what she is. There is such a thing as karma....and boy will it all come back to her.

NOW AS SOMEONE WHO WORKS AS A NURSE AND MAINTAINS THE UTMOST PRIVACY FOR HER PT'S I WAS DISGUSTED TO SAY THE LEAST. DR. LEDERMAN NEEDS TO SLOW DOWN AND IMPROVE HER QUALITY OF SERVICE AND FORGET HER QUANTITY AND PAY TO GET REAL PROFESSIONAL PEOPLE IN HER OFFICE AND NOT PEOPLE SHE HIRES WHO ARE FRIENDS OF A FRIEND. I was not aware that this web site was for the doctor to answer criticism about her practice, it seems like she is rating herself. This site is for patients to express their feelings about how they are treated in her office. Everyone that wrote I am sure you are telling the true about the horrrible experience in Dr.Lederman's office. She is heartless and totlly unware of her patients feelings, her main concern is money and how much she can get for each procedure..I waited 2 hours for a second of her tme to look at my son's rash she walked in and out, didn't even bother to ask my son name, no compassion how sad for her she is totally clueless about what people are thinking..Dr lederman and her staff look like they belong on 42nd street not a doctor's office(what happen to uniforms)I guess professionalism is not important only money..you bet I'll never be back...AVOID THIS DOCTOR AT ALL COST.

Well where to start?? First I had to wait 2 months for an appointment. Most of the office staff could use a class in good manners. I arrived the appropriate 15 minutes before my appointment. I then waited 2 hours and 45 minutes before my name was even called!! I was so happy to be in the room to finally see the doctor, however I was forced to wait ANOTHER 45 minutes in the room! Finally Dr. Lederman gets in the room and she was gone within 5 minutes!! She spoke so fast I could barely understand her and she wasn't very pleasant. I couldn't even get out my questions fast enough without her cutting me off. I also heard Dr. Lederman in the next room giving a woman botox injections and she was even rushing her! I don't know about you but if someone is near my face with a needle I don't want them rushing! I was extremely disappointed with Dr. Lederman and would definitely recommend you look for another dermatologist. She's not worth the 3 hour and 45 minute wait. Hope this helped :)

This is the worst doctor in SI, her bedside manner is VERY stink, servics stink, the staff ok but she treats them like****, the office manager thinks she is all that. this dr. forget she needs patients.you have to wait 3 hrs in the waiting room,if you are not doing cosmetic procedures you have to wait another 45min in the room.her P A is nice because i guess she needs a job.but in time she will leave like everyone else (eg)mike. They only spend 1 year and leave. The best person ever passed through there was Verna, but like everyone else she had to move to a more respectable practice. Employees comes and goes in the blink of an eye. I will never recommend anyone to that "?ITCH".

I chose to come see her instead never saw her but got her PA, which ended up being a hottie. Her staff was so mean and rude to me even when I had a cyst the size of mount Rushmore on my face , no Cpmassion what-so-ever! I was done and forgot my cell. I needed to call hubby to pick me up and so I asked if they can dial the number for me and the response was "no you can dial it yourself" and almost threw the phone! I stood there in shock so the other receptionist, I guess felt sorry for me and said she will dial it for me. I went there for close to a year. I have seen the girls in the front treat people rudely and no compassion, but if you get work done, lets say botox, lasers, lip injections, any cosmetic procedures, they are your best friend! I can't be bothered with people like that or that environment.

I have gone to Dr. Lederman for several years, I guess it's time for a change..my last visit was unbelievable, she totally changed her entire staff, the office manager has a lot to learn when it comes to patients. I ask if I could ask the doctor a question with an arrogant tone she advised me that she answers all questions and that she is in charge. I finally got to see the doctor when I expressed my dissatisfactions she abruptly interupted & dismissed me and walked out of the room ....very unprofessional..Well I guess it doesn't matter that I will not be coming back or any members of my family..we don't do any cosmetic procedures any way..

I would never recommend this doctor to anyone, I waited over one hour to see her while she was busy socializing with her staff . The wait was not even worth it she walked in, looked at my rash said it's nothing and left the room, like was a bother to her. I found her to be arrogant with a attitude like I was wasting her time with my problem. To top that off when I asked for my receipt of $20 for the co-payment it was an issue getting one, which I couldn't understand unless cash isn't being recorded. I found the whole experience disappointing and you will never see me there. By the way to the lady who wrote about all this comments, Why are you a personal friend or you just got paid for yours.

Difficult to get an appoint with her (& often difficult with her medical associates, if they even stay with her practice!). WHY Triple-booked!?! More arrogant since her husband's "Beatles" legal problems (Plus, she should not speak of it). As knowledgeable as most in her field. Her staff despises her for the way they have to work & treat patients (except of course for the chief French assistant). Dr. Lederman will only spend time if you seem interested in non-insurance cosmetic procedures, so mention the possibility of that & you may get her to take more interest in your real problem. Otherwise, go to a doctor that isn't afraid to touch you (with or without 2 pairs of gloves on) to find the problem.

I find it hard to believe myself that my children & I have continued to see Dr. Lederman through the past 10 years! Yes, they Overbook, only Once was my wait less than 1 hour, usually it's 2, once was 3(2 hours outside waiting room,1 hour inside-with her most arrogant chief assistant/nurse? coming in & out for supplies or just to see if I've stayed in the room). No, she is not personable (but many specialists seem that way when they're serious); for the most part, she does know her stuff, except once when my daughter had an emergency that she had never seen before, she tried to dismiss it & tell me just to get laser surgery(that treated the visible condition, not the underlying problem). She usually hires knowledgeable PA's (that can't take it much in the office & leave after 1 year). To get an appointment with Dr. Lederman is difficult unless a doctor calls for you, so if you can, book the PA when the doctor also has hours(she will pop in to verify a diagnosis/treatment). Bon Chance

Went to my first visit today after reading all the comments and she did live up to most of them. However , because she was one of the few board certified dermatologists in my plan ,I figured I give her a shot. I don't think she intentionally is being rude , I truly believe that she is just FRENCH.When I arrived all the signs are in french , pictures of france, diplomas from france...and most of all ATTITUDE from you guessed it FRANCE.I waited about 45 minutes to see her.I was informed by an assistant before she came in that all the non serious stuff (anything could be serious I was thinking) would be better if followed up by her staff of Physicians Assistants which is cool with me.I asked if that would cut down on the wait time and the person said "big time".She whizzed in, looked me over where I have problems wrote two prescriptions , told me about future treatment if condition worsens and poof she was gone..I go back in two days to follow up.Then I will write full review.Au revoir.

This Dr. is bad news.Besides a riduculous wait time, her main concern is money, money and more money!!! I cannot believe how she zips in and out of the office, hardly even acknowledging her patients. Her attention is not focused unless your getting a money making procedure. There is way too much coffee clutching in the office and she is not as knowledgeable as she seems. While waiting in her office we all discussed horror stories just like these reviews. People are not exaggerating these descriptions one bit!!! Please go anywhere but here!!!

This is by far the wrose office I have been too...not only was the doctor unprofessional..she spend 2 second in the room and walked out...she also has a rude staff when I asked the office manager a question she jumped at me, like who was I to ask a question and totely ignored me completly. This office should be AVOIDED.. The doctor should be report to the Labor Board for her conduct.

I agree with whoever wrote the comment about the RN. They must have gotten paid some kind of money to have written those good comments and never went to the office before. She's easily the worst doctor I have been to and I'm an RN as well. The wait didn't bother me even though it was over 3 hours. Her lack of knowledge and the way she completely dismissed me were what bothered me. It wouldn't surprise me if she was sued many times over and it's a wonder she can still practice. Looks can be deceiving with her nice office but she should be completely avoided.

I am an advance practice RN, with the advantage of knowing numerous doctors;I have a vast variety to select from.I did not select Dr Lederman, due to ease of geographical location BUT because she is so very intelligent! I wanted/needed an expert in the field! All medical offices seem to have an excessive wait time, the reason is because the OUTSTANDING docs do indeed take their time examining/assessing/explaining. I do not want a 'drive through' approach, thats wonderful if I want a hamburger NOT unsurpassed medical attention. The wait was well worth it. I without hestiation HIGHLY recommend Dr Lederman, she truly does care about her patients. Her staff was very personable & put us at ease by light pleasant conversation. I seek medical care based on the doctors education, experience & expertise NOT looking for another pal or someone to break bread with. I require follow up treatment & willingly have selected Dr Lederman as my #1 doctor of choice.

The worst doctor I have ever been to in my entire life and I have been to plenty of them. She quickly dismissed my concerns after waiting 3 hours and I have a history of melanoma. She said nothing was wrong without even looking at my skin. I got a second opinion and a second melanoma was found by another doctor. She is horrible and whoever wrote those good comments must either be related to her or know her because there is no way they were actually seen there

Was sent there as a STAT patient by my doctor with a very bad skin infection, which my doctor did not know what it was. She looks at it and says it's because your picking, which I wasn't, and sends me home. Long story short, I end up hospitalized with cellulitis. Stay away, far away,

I waited 2 hours to see her. she has no bed side matters. she came in and left after 2 seconds with out explaining anything her poor assist had to explain and he knew nothing. she did spend planty of time talking out side with her staff about Botox and her cosmetic line. she should not use the word DOCTOR in front of her name..I will never recommened anyone to this office.

Her only concern is pushing her cosmetic/product line, botox injections and laser. Unprofessional and unorganized. When one has cancer, the last problem you should deal with is a doctor who is treating you. I had to leave the office with a open wound to go to the hospital to be stitched. The most horrific experience I've every had. If you need medical attention from this woman, find another doctor, she's incorrigible.

I literally waited for 3.5 hours before being seen by Dr. Lederman. Although she seems knowledgeable, she doesn't listen well to her patients' concerns. I will not be returning.

I waited for Dr. Lederman for 45 minutes to be seen but I must say it was more than worth the wait. I had been to another dermatologist with a growth I was concerned about who dismissed it as insignificant. Dr. Lederman looked at it and told me it was ?suspicious? and removed it; the biopsy proved she was right. It?s a good thing she caught it early. I later found out that the growth was a type that 95 out a 100 dermatologists would think is benign. I?m glad I got to her and not another of the ones who would have missed it.

Stay away from this doctor she has absolutely no respect for her patients. After waiting 2 hours in her waiting room I was brought to an examining room where I proceeded to wait about another 20 minutes while she chatted with a medical sales rep about summer camps, totally oblivious to her patients in the examining rooms.

Josiane Lederman appears knowledgeable, but seems to dislike her job and her patients. You have to wait for literally HOURS to see Dr. Lederman and when you finally get in, she takes a quick look, and either dismisses your concerns or acts like you're an idiot for even asking about them. For example, I went to her for skin growths on my face and arm that I thought might be pre-cancerous. She looked briefly, scoffed at my concerns and said they were "nothing". But she didn't say it in a reassuring way, but in a dismissive, arrogant way. As if I were stupid for even thinking such a thing. How am I to know what might be pre-cancerous or not? Both my mother and my sister have had skin cancers removed, so I am naturally cautious about it. Dr. Lederman acts as if her patients are all idiots. I am going to find another dermatologist and I would suggest that you do so too. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to see Dr. Lederman.

This is the worst doctor I was ever treated by. I had a beauty mark removed and it looks horrible. No respect for patient's time. I waited 1 hr first time, 2 hours the second time. For the follow up appointment, I called 2 blocks away and asked if I had to wait -my child was hungry and I needed to know if I could feed him. I was told that the waiting room was empty and there will be no wait. I arrived within 2 minutes (whatever took me to park). There were about 10 people in the room and the waiting time, according to the staff, was "ONLY about 45 minutes". I left and never returned. I understand that doctors make you wait, but this doctor is UNBELIEVABLE!!!! appointments are rushed and they do not have the time to listen to you. NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL. I don't know how she can keep patients coming back...

She's a good dermatologist, but truly doesn't take much time w/her patients because she's so busy. Any procedures such as botox or fillers, she's the best w/this.

I came to her for a skin cancer screening becuase I have had a lot of sun burns in my life. I waited an hour and a half after my scheduled appointment time. She came in, asked me what i wanted and literally looked at me for 5 seconds and said I was fine and left the room. I was incredulous at her behavior. In my opinion, she is by far the worst doctor I have ever been too. I recommend that people stay away as far as possible from her. I actually had to go to a real dermatologist for a real skin cancer screening. I was clean thankfully.

Overbooks patients... Bring books and magazines, you'll be waiting forever! When you get in, will wait longer for her to say "looks like a rash... you'll be fine" Another doctor prescribed medication immediately.
