:) Click to report rating    5/29/09 5 5 5 I read all the feed back and was very concerned. I DROVE FROM LAKE CHARLES to houston with my wife. Dr. Gabel was great. He explained everything to us in detail and I was in surgery one week later for my shoulder. The doctors here in lake charles could not get correct my problem but Dr. Gable was able to find the problem and get me on with my recovery. I think he is great and as far as pain meds, no problems at all.

:( Click to report rating    3/16/08 1 1 1 Was recommended by case manager who talked me out of my dr. Avoid him like the plague!!! Did poorley on my shoulder, ignored my pain, told me I could't lift over 20 lbs& would not put in report. He's a hack workers comp pet dr. He works with the insurance company and NOT yhe patient! It's bad when a radioligist asked me why a hand surgeon did my shoulder. He ruined my shoulder&life! Complain about pain&he'll give you cortizone shot or ignore you!

:( Click to report rating    3/14/07 1 1 Worst physician experience I have ever had. He misdiagnosed my wrist and performed unneeded surgery.

:( Click to report rating    10/12/06 2 1 I have had nothing but problems since having surgery by this physician. He had the nerve to blame his poor outcome on me and my therapist. Don't be fooled by thinking age/experience=skill like I was. Do your research and find one of the well trained hand surgeons in the medical center.

:( Click to report rating    8/3/06 2 1 After waiting for 45 minutes in the room he finally arrived. I was given a brief (30 second exam) and sent on my way. No explanation or discussion of my medical problem. He is definitely interested in seeing as many patients as possible with no concern for bedside manner. I have since found a competent hand surgeon and recommend you do the same.

:) Click to report rating    7/6/06 5 5 Dr. Gabel and his staff have always be extremely helpful and squeezed me in at the end of the day when I had an urgent need and problems scheduling. He is very knowledgeable and is an outstanding orthopedic doctor and surgeon. He has seen me for tendinitis in my elbow and gave me better care than a former colleague of his with more years experience who initally treated me and told me it would go away on its on in 5 years! When I broke my collar bone in a bike riding accident, he saw me the next day and put my fears at ease at each visit as I was not healing as expected. He is very compassionate and will spend the time necessary to treat his patients and understand their complaints and allay their concerns. When I had a problem with the worker's comp adjuster on my elbow injury, he was willing to see me in the meanwhile, until the issue could be cleared up. No other ortho doctor that I have seen in the Houston Medical Center has cared about me or treated me or my injuries better.
