I saw Dr. Falk many years ago when one of my other doctors suspected I had a particular auto-immune disease. She disagreed but did not provide anything close to a comprehensive exam, and then seemed amazed when blood tests confirmed the diagnosis. She clearly conveyed the impression that lay patients were incapable of undertanding their conditions. My comments merely echo the negative remarks that have already been made. I have moved on, happily to a specialist whose name she gave me (even though at the time, she doubted I needed to see anyone.) She would benefit from some humility.

Dr. Falk is great. I started going to her 2 years ago and have since referred 3 friends to her practice who have all been delighted by their level of care. She is *very* responsive both to patients and to any of your specialists that she collaberates with.

I was referred to Dr. Falk 21 years ago when I had a persistent cough. I was pregnant with my first child. She misdiagnosed me as having a tumor on my heart. She wanted to schedule an abortion asap. She was discourteous and uncaring. Her comments today in the Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/07/20/AR2009072002335_2.html) about patients not knowing quality care, shows she has not changed in her demeanor. Well trained doctors do not always make the best ones. I grew up in a medical family so know the difference. After a battle with Hodgkins (http://www.medicinenet.com/hodgkins_disease/article.htm), seeing many caring doctors and two sons later, my oldest is turning 21 soon, thankfully, without Dr. Falk's advice.

I think Dr. Falk is great. She has a matter-of-fact approach that may not be for everyone, but I found her to be very thorough and very compassionate. I only wish she was more accepting of varied insuarnce programs. I've had to go elsewhere to stay in my plan, but if I had a real medical crisis, she'd be the one I'd go to first. I think you can trust her to tell you the facts and be a strong advocate for you in what has become a very frustrating medical environment.

I have been going to Dr. Falk for 20 years. Shie is sensible and competent and always takes time to talk with me about health concerns. She is particularly good as I get older.

I wouldn't say Dr. Falk is terrible, but she certainly isn't great. For quick issues I think she's fine, but if you have anything remotely complex that requires connecting of dots (that may not always be immediately apparently) you are not well served by her. She has a very hands off approach and short of an issue that smacks her in the face, there is unlikely to be much in terms of medical care or innovations offered to help you. You might even call her lazy. They say that doctors are judged by the company she keeps and some of her referrals were certainly not the best. She even referred me to a "specialist" who really wasn't all that much a specialist in this particular discipline. If you're sick and have no other options, she's fine for routine diagnosis and care, however I wouldn't go back to her as a primary care doctor.

I finally changed from Dr. Falk to another doctor because I was tired of her demeaning, nasty, and curt manner. If I looked up something medical to educate myself, she was extremely sarcastic, accusing me of practicing medicine; she does not like patients who ask questions. I asked her for a referral to have a bone density scan becuase I had read a book by an MD which recommended it as a precaution at my age. She scoffed and said I was too young, refusing to write me the referral and giving me a stern lecture instead. I stupidly waited and finally paid for the dexascan out of pocket. It turned out that I had MODERATE osteoparosis. Had I been given the referral when I requested it, I could have started taking fosomax imediately and prevented the osteoparosis. Now, that diagnosis has adversely impacted my application for long/term health/care/insurance AND I am at high risk for fractures. She also misdiagnosed a problem my husband was having with his foot. I would NEVER recommend her.

I've been going to Dr. Falk for the last 5 years after she was instrumental in finding my mother's breast cancer early enough for her to have only a lumpectomy and no recurrence. Dr. Falk has always taken my health concerns seriously, though some doctors I previously had been to had dismissed them. She puts my mind at ease, takes all necessary precautions and, most importantly, takes the time to explain everything to me. She's great. I'm so sad I moved to NY for that reason and wish more than anything I could find someone like her here. Though she doesn't take insurance and I'm a young person with a modest income, I never thought twice about switching doctors while I was in DC. She's also incredibly knowledgeable and I love her little dog!

Good doctor. Not the type that's going to weep over a skinned knee but smart, thorough and responsive.

I've been going to Dr. Falk for more than 20 years, and normally do not like doctors much. I trust her and find her helpful. I wish she were in some insurance plans, but even without that, I've switched to a PPO so that she can continue as my doctor. She is very straightforward and businesslike. She is not a good doctor for someone who wants to noodle on about minor illnesses, but she will see you same day if you need that, is conscientious and responsive, and cares about her patients. If you're someone who clings to your weaknesses like a toddler clings to her blankie, she's going to be hard on you. But if you want thorough checkups, straightforward advice, and resistance to overprescribing (she won't give you antibiotics for a viral cold, because they don't work, and she doesn't want to contribute to minor and major illnesses becoming drug resistant), she's a great doctor. I highly recommend her for people who don't need excessive coddling.

I saw Dr. Falk 8 yrs ago. Let's just say she treated me so badly that when I heard abt www.ratemd.com, I wanted to warn people about her immediately. I never wrote to the medical board or her office b/c it would be too painful to remember in detail how repeatedly demeaning she was to me. I had been going to Dr. Falk for a while and thought she was nice. Then, one day, she was in a very foul mood and very mean. I complained of fatigue, for instance, so she told me to "just quit" a Rx a cardiologist had put me on to control my heart rate (and which the cardiologist warned me to wean off slowly if I ever wanted to stop it). When I politely challenged her on quitting cold-turkey vs. weaning, she almost bit my head off. She was so mean like that during that entire visit that I never forgot it, I cried the rest of the afternoon, and I never went back. Checking later, Dr. Falk was indeed wrong about not weaning; I could've ended up w/ serious heart problems in the ER if I'd done that.
