:) Click to report rating    10/29/09 1 5 5 Dr. Black is THE MOST THROUGH Dr. I've EVER SEEN. Each time I go in, he'll do a blood test that's 3-pages long. Dr. Black uncovered 3-other conditions I'm now being treated for. If you want to see a Doctor that *TRULY* uses the Scientific Method to try and uncover what is wrong with you (and will do ALL KINDS of blood test to see what ails you...THIS IS YOUR DOCTOR). The Bad: 1-RUDE!!!! Office Staff (worse than the Post Office). 2-Blood Test results take a FULL MONTH to get back--"21 Business Days" to get back. HOWEVER--I cannot sress enough how GREAT of a Doctor Dr. Black is. The only "negative" is he's always EXTREMELY BUSY--and he talks VERY FAST--so you might (seriousy) want to take notes during your appointment so ou can remember everything. He's GREAT--he'll explain how a Drug works--what to expect in your Body, etc.etc. Never met a Doctor that seemed to care as much for his Patients as Dr. Black.

:| Click to report rating    6/18/09 3 5 3 dr. blacks office staff are totally rude, I am very sick and had to cancel 2 appointments due to the fact that I cannot get out of bed and they stated that they would not see me since I canceled on them, the black lady who answers the phone is the rudest person I have ever talked to, why does he keep this lady is beyond me there are so many nurses out there looking for a job!!!

:) Click to report rating    5/12/09 1 4 4 Dr. Black is wonderful, but his staff is HORRID. This is the MAIN reason I am switching to another Endocrinologist.

:) Click to report rating    1/2/09 1 5 5 Dr Black does have a great deal of knowledge. The two ladies that answer the phones are rude. I have almost reached the point that I would stop going to avoid them. You have to wait too long to get back your test results. It was not always like this. I hope that during 2009, he will work with his staff to provide help and support to the patiens.

:) Click to report rating    11/25/08 4 5 5 So far I am very pleased with Dr. Black AND his staff. I think people have a tendency to treat medical office staff very rudely THEMSELVES, so don't be surprised when you reap what you sow! Hush your mouth and put a smile on your face when you're talking to his office staff. He is worth any perceived "rudeness." He is the ONLY doctor I've been to in Atlanta who has listened to me and actually helped me diagnose my issue. He is great! Highly recommended.

:) Click to report rating    11/6/08 3 4 5 Dr. Black is extremely knowledgeable in his field. My wife was referred to him with fatigue symptoms so severe, she could barely leave the bed. Dr. Black performed numerous tests on her; he even paid for one himself when Cigna would not! The results confirmed his suspicions that she was sufferring from hypopituitarism. I would recommend Dr. Black to anyone with endocrine related problems- he's the best!

:(      10/1/08 2 3 1 I was a patient of Dr. Black. He performed a dangerous procedure on me in his office. At the time I didn't know how dangerous it was. It was an insulin induced study to check my pituitary. He lowered my blood sugar level to under 20. At a later appointment he told me I should have been in a diabetic coma at that point. He didn't address all my issues either. He just prescribed a massive dose of HGH. My subsequent drs informed me the dose was way too high for an adult and is only used in children with severe difficiency. I would encourage anyone to FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR!!! Jokes don't make up for poor care!!!

:) Click to report rating    9/3/08 3 3 5 I saw Dr Black only while I was in the hospital with a serious heart problem. He was treating me for newly diagnosed diabetes. He is very smart and talked to me like a human - unlike other doctors there. He always had a joke or comment to brighten the day, even in ICU. His suggestions for controlling my diabetes were on target. I was sad that he was not available on my insurance plan after I left the hospital. I didn't deal with his staff and punctuality wasn't an issue in ICU.

:) Click to report rating    8/8/08 3 3 5 I originally started going to Dr. Black as a teenager, but when my family's insurance changed I had to switch doctors. Dr. Black listened to me and gave me the synthroid I needed, while the new doctor ended up saying I didn't need any meds at all. Once I graduated college I've gone to Dr. Black religiously. I trust him and he has kept my condition in check. Yes his office staff could be nicer, and you do have to wait a while in the lobby. But after my experience it is vital that I go to a doctor that I can trust, and I completely trust Dr. Black. If you have a serious Thyroid issue then this is the doctor in Atlanta that you should visit. That is just my opinion, but I've been his patient for over 15 years. I'll be really sad when he retires- that's my biggest concern.

:) Click to report rating    8/6/08 1 2 4 If you can put up with the reception staff, he's worth a visit. Dr. Black is brilliant. You just have to put up with the rudeness and uncaring administrative staff. I like him very much, trust him with my life--I just have to tolerate the office

:( Click to report rating    6/3/08 1 1 1 Dr. Black's office is in shambles. It takes weeks to get results back and you have to call a voice system and can't understand what he is saying and the answers are only partial. Staff is impossible and never returns calls.

:( Click to report rating    5/22/08 1 1 1 The office staff is very rude. They do not return phone calls. Test results take weeks to get back to you. Dr. Black is very knowledgable but his office staff is horrible.

:| Click to report rating    12/28/07 2 4 2 Dr. Black is very knowledgeable; however, his staff is rude and unprofessional. I was asked by one of the receptionists what prescription I took and told by her that I would be fine without it. The communication you have with his staff will be horrible/ineffective and for the most part you can't even talk to a human because you're forced to use an automated system to call in prescriptions and obtain lab results.

:( Click to report rating    11/19/07 1 1 1 The staff at Dr. Judson Black's office are rude. One person I spoke with over the phone was indignent as they acted as if they were the doctor. Very inappropriate behavior and very unprofessional telephone skills. I was very upset over the way I was treated. And I did not get my presciption.

:( Click to report rating    10/23/07 1 2 1 The staff is incredibly unhelpful and rude. Geting a simple question about lab results answered takes days. And this is only after waiting THREE WEEKS to get a voice mail that only partially summarizes the lab results.

:) Click to report rating    11/29/06 5 5 I had a great experience with Dr. Black, referred by my pediatrician who is in the top 100 in Atlanta list consistantly. I went to him when i found i had a thyroid issue, and my sister had had one for 10 years and been to good and bad doctors in the state she lives. Bottom line, she told me what to look for in the doctor's protocols, like does he recommend generic (NEVER-right answer for synthroid) and other things. He was the only doctor to feel my neck while i swallowed to see how the glands feel and react- i don't know why the other people are so not liking him, but i find him great - he takes his time and listens and asks questions that you never thought would have any relevance to your condition and then when he explains things in the end you realize he wasn't just being friendly, he was on a fact finding mission. I highly recommend him!

:| Click to report rating    11/3/06 2 3 Although Dr. Black is a good person his offce staff is mean, unplesant, uncaring and snobbish. They care more that their uniforms match than if I get meds or test results back promptly. The phone system is user unfriendly. No one cared that I left nor why.

:( Click to report rating    10/25/06 1 1 I agree with the person below that Dr. Black sucks. I went to him for my diabetes for 6 months - 1 year. He didn't do a single thing for me. He actually told me he was testing me for "everything under the sun" because he didn't know what was wrong with me. I finally stopped going to him after I realized he was a moron and was wasting my time. I called his office and told them how unhappy I was with the doctor. They couldn't have cared less. Next thing I know i get a letter from the doctor stating he is no longer my physician and to find a new doctor. HUH? Mind you, this is several months after I stopped seeing him and had even gotten copies of all my records from him. This guy is not knowledgeable and is not on top of his stuff. His staff is sub-par and one girl in particular has a nasty attitude. I was very glad to get a new doctor and I would NEVER go back to Dr. Black. On top of everything else, he is ALWAYS late for appointments and his waiting room is way to small.
