Dr. Yanchik saw our daughter when she had suspected mono, strep or flu. We sat in the examining room for over an hour, and then sat longer to wait for blood test results. All tests were negative, and Dr. insisted we go by ambulance to a hospital over an hour from our home. She refused to let us use our local hospital or another one halfway to the one she wanted. She was vague about what she thought was wrong with our daughter, or why she needed to be hospitalized. Her bedside manner was very distant and unemotional when my daughter was scared. When we arrived at the hospital, the attending pediatrician wondered why we were there, when we could have given her the same care at home(hydration and observation). This fiasco cost us $250 on top of the copay for the office. Dr. Yanchik called us at home a few days later to see how our daughter was, and was defensive when I told her the hospital thought we should have kept her home. We will not see this doctor again.
