9/10/12 5 4 5 5 In 1993 I had C5-6 spinal fusion using bone donor & a titanium plate to secure. Surgery went well, but I continued to have some pain. Dr Tibbs bedside manner is the BEST. Seven months later the plate had completely broken into. I wouldnt have had anyone else fix the problem. The plate had to be removed as it was causing problems that could turn severe. Dr Tibbs removed the plate & I've done great ever since!! He really is a very intelligent Dr and takes times to explain in plain terms, good or bad, so you know what you're up against. He's the best in my book!

11/4/11 4 4 5 5 Dr. Tibbs is a straight forward physician, which I like. I want to know if diagnosis is good or bad and what options are available. He did surgery on my back and although I have limitations, the pain from ruptured disc is gone.  Respond

9/30/11 4 1 1 5 Today was my first visit with Dr. Tibbs. He was 3 hours late and minimized the extent of my pain. His staff was agitated that he kept adding more patients to his schedule than could be seen in a normal work day. He said he sees 60 patients a day. Maybe that is the problem. I appreciate that he wants to help as many people as possible however quality of care is much more important than quantity. This clinic feels like public health care at it's worst.

9/30/11 5 5 5 5 I had surgery on a herniated disk in 2010 and am going back this year for a slipped disk. Yes, Tibbs is hard to get into see but when you do it is worth it. He was very gental with me, he looked through my MRI's and even welcomed my opinion and questions. He showed me where it was herniated and showed me what he was going to do. When I learned that i had to go back I idmmetiatly demanded him and I will always demand him for my problems because I know that he is a wonderful surgeon.

8/2/11 4 5 5 5 Excellent! Wonderful Dr. I had my first appointment on a Friday, my surgery the next Friday. He KNEW I was in severe pain and had enough compassion to write me in even tho he was booked! I must say his PA is a jackass! His intentions were physical therapy and steroids. The PA was the only negative I encountered! Would recommend Dr. Tibbs to anyone!!! He definitely knows his****!!! Gave me more than enough meds to make it thru recovery. I'm 12 days post op. As soon as I woke up I was 85% better. He did a C 6/7 discectomy and fusion using a bone donor. I am 37 years young ;) Thanks Tibbs!!

4/24/11 5 1 1 1 He was 2 hrs late for appt. then came bouncing in like a manic on steroids. Second sentence out of his mouth was, you don't have cancer and you don't need surgery. He hadn't even looked at the MRI that he demanded I bring on CD. He then skied through the CD at the speed of light and couldn't find what my local Dr.s were talking about. What he said about cancer or surgery was an outright lie since he didn't then or even now do I even have a dx. All I know is that I have a cystic mass the size of a quarter. He said he had great radiologist and asked to keep the disk, and let them look at it, and he would get back to me. How do I know his great radiologist will not do the same as he did. First impressions mean a lot, and although I know he is suppose to be one of the best in the state, he most certainly did not show it on my initial visit. I will not be going back and I can not recommend him to anyone. If he is one of the best in the state, we are in tyrouble.  Respond

4/21/11 4 4 5 5 I have been seeing Dr. Tibbs for 9 years. He is the best, I have had 2 discectomys and am now having 2 level spinal fusion. I would not think of anyone else doing the surgery. Dr. Tibbs is very nice and has years of experience. I think he is the best doctor around and am very lucky that I am his patient

11/24/10 5 5 5 5 Exceptional. Took time to explain my condition/surgery in simple terms. Had surgery less than a week after initial exam. He is the very best in this area. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Tibbs, his staff, and all of University of Kentucky Medical Center. I was passed over by other local surgeons, but Dr. Tibbs identified the problem and corrected it through surgery. He is very kind, compassionate, and caring. I would trust him again and recommend him to anyone having spine/neuro conditions. I feel very fortunate to have a doctor of his caliber here in Lexington. In short Dr. Tibbs is the BEST. I will be leaving my primary care doctor for one at U.K. after this experience, that is the affect it has had on me. I am very impressed with U.K. and Dr. Tibbs. Thank you Dr. Tibbs for giving me relief from the pain I suffered for so long.

10/23/09 4 3 1 3 my previous family dr. sent me to dr. tibbs a couple years ago he seemed nice i only went there for an evaluation. my recent visit was not so well. spent about 20 minutes with the PA (randall). he gave his opinion, very conservative compared to other specialist i have seen. even dr. tibbs. although he was nice, i didn't receive the help i was looking for. when i made the appointment i made it with dr. tibbs i didn't see him that day at all. i was told meds were prescribed to surgery patients only. i wanted help for the treatment of my condition not just meds. i was not reappointed, the pa offered to send me to someone else, i just wish i had knowned that before i waited a month for this appointment. my wife and i drove 3 hours to see the doctor. but i didn't get to see him only the pa.

8/24/09 5 5 5 5 My mother had neck surgery at age 81. The family was fully informed, and he took the time to answer all questions before, right after, and post-surgery. For having fusion and 3 pins inserted, Mom's pain and recovery was exceptioally minimal. She said she was in less pain than before surgery! I know of other surgeries of friends and neighbors that were exceptional.

8/21/08 4 2 2 2 Dr. Tibbs' told my mother he did nothing wrong & it would talk a while to get back to normal after my surgery. She could not feel my legs and had urinary & bowel incontience. Told her it could take up to 2 yrs, still waiting at 9 yrs. Last app't told her, he didn't know what problem was. Know of 2 others in similar situations.  Respond

12/27/07 4 4 1 4 results of back surgery excellent, but he neglected to respond to a follow-up problem, leaving me in pain and doubt as to a diagnosis for several weeks. he was without compassion when i tried to get him to admit, in a phone call, to an error in ordering a wrong xray. my voice became loud and he calmly said he'd not be my doctor any longer, i concluded he has a thin skin and that respect trumped good patient care, for him.

3/21/06 2 5 5 Dr. Tibbs is exceptional. Conservative yet perfectionist with great surgical outcome. He is very thorough and takes his time explaining things. His office staff, esp personal PA make sure you understand everything going in, pre-op. He's so busy though that often you must deal with residents.  Respond
