:( Click to report rating    3/2/10 1 5 1 Terrible, aweful, horrible. I went to her a couple years ago for hair falling out and rash on my face. I had all my blood draw numbers. She laughed at me and said I had tons of hair and it would NEVER fall out. She also said I just had dry skin and my numbers didn't show a problem. Months later I was diagnosed, by another Dr., with eczema and 2 years later I have lost 60 percent of my hair. Look at reviews on other sites. She is horrible. Most good Endocrinologists take into consideration your numbers and your symptoms. She should lose her license just for the way she treats people.

:( Click to report rating    1/26/10 1 1 1 We have had TERRIBLE service from this woman who calls herself a Dr. The time she spends with a patient is very minimal. Her office staff is less than helpful. She is RUDE and inconsiderate! Do NOT go to her if you want quality care! We had seen her for 2 years. Then on our last apt we had to cancel our last apt due to no insurance and could not afford to see her for diabetes. WE finally got good insurance, called to schedule a visit (3 years later)and she could not get us in for 2 months. Today we went in for our apt with current blood work and medical files for the past 3 years waited for 50 minutes. Barbara Widom herself came out into the waiting area and said, "We have a 3 strike policy. Since you have canceled 3 different appointments, (keep in mind this was over a 2 year period, 3 years ago) I can not see you today. You will have to get a Dr. note from your Primary Care Physician and reschedule" FYI.. We have a PPO, had ALL of our medical records, and current blood work.

:( Click to report rating    7/26/09 2 4 1 Dr. Widom was recommended to me by my GP, though God only knows why (although my GP [now former] is almost as bad). She had me take a blood test and then told me that there was nothing wrong with me, even though I had come to her with clear symptoms of hypo-thyroid. I had to ask her to send me my test results and through my own research that my TSH levels were in the basement and my cortisol levels were through the roof. I would not suggest anyone see her for any reason.

:) Click to report rating    7/17/09 5 5 5 Dr. Widom is an awesome doctor! I have been seeing her for quite a few years. She is very knowledgable. She is very direct and honest. She may not be the doctor for you if you can't handle the directness or your unwilling to help yourself. She doesn't tolerate anyone's attitude and if you can't handle the truthfullness that she tells you, then you need to go elsewhere. She is all about healthcare. I couldn't imagine seeing a different endocrinologist!

:) Click to report rating    7/9/09 5 5 5 First of all with Chronic illnesses, treatments is a partnership and the patient must show complete willingness to play an active part in treatments of such illnesses. Most specialist are so busy that they will not and should notwast their time with patients who refuse to actively participate. Dr Widom was able to diagnose and treat undetected illnesses that I have been suffering from for the past 13 years. Whe was right on when I fist saw her. My type-1 diabetes has never been so well controlled in 20 years. My A1c's are now 6.4% instead of the usual 10%. Thyroid is good, blood pressure is now normal and her attitude can't be better. I have to admit that on my first visit she was a bit abrasive, but all the specialist that I've ever been to has been that way until you get to know them. She comes wth high recommendations!

:) Click to report rating    6/21/09 3 4 3 The person who stated she "is very abrupt, does not listen, does not answer any questions" sums it up well. I think her personality tends to make one question her expertise. She needs to get rid of her East Coast attitude.

:( Click to report rating    2/6/09 4 4 1 I came to Dr. Widom with fatigue, excessive weight gain (3-4 lbs p/wk), dry skin and low body temperature. I suspected a thyroid problem and didn't want to be told that diet and exercise were the cause so I kept a food and exercise diary for about 4 months. Dr. Widom drew blood and based on the TSH number she refused to treat me in any way. She refused to look at the food and exercise diary and told me that she saw no problem that Weight Watchers couldn't help. I consulted another doctor and found that my free T3 and free T4 were very low and after the appropriate treatment I have lost 45 lbs and am healthier than I have been in years. Thank heavens I didn't listen to Dr. Widom and sought another opinion.

:( Click to report rating    1/31/09 3 3 1 Dr. Widom did not help my thyroid condition at all. She stated that she "goes by the numbers" and did not listen when I described how I felt. She told me it was not necessary to come back, that we could take care of it over the phone. She was abrupt and rushed. The last few months have been the worst of my life. Needless to say, she's fired.

:( Click to report rating    1/22/09 2 3 1 Unresponsive to personal fatigue and did not follow extensive protocols to determine and evaluate thyroid health. Strictly went by the numbers without any concern for personal feedback.

:) Click to report rating    1/20/09 5 5 5 Up until December 2007 I was seeing another doctor for my diabetes and decided to switch over to an insulin pump due to the fact that my numbers had been off the chart for years and I could not get them under control. I had been told that Dr Widom was really into pump therapy we sat down and talked and she told me she had never put a type two diabetic on a pump before but I had done all the research so we sat down over a few appointments and talked she took her time went over everything in detail and told me what to expect. After getting the pump and working with her my numbers dropped like a rock the first two months I was on the pump every time I send her my numbers her or her staff get back to me within a day or two. The first two weeks I was on the pump I had her home number and was told to call her on her day off to give her my numbers. She has been a big help and I would recommend her to any one.

:( Click to report rating    11/11/08 1 1 1 WORST doctor I have EVER been to! Treated me poorly, never returned my phone calls, staff was poor, in fact she had no idea what was going on MOST of the time. I highly recommened you stay away from this doctor!

:) Click to report rating    9/3/08 5 4 5 I stumble across this rating system. I think Dr. Widom is an awesome doctor. She has been right on point with my pituitary and thyroid issues. I have not noticed any arrogance or lack of answering my questions. I give her a top rating.

:( Click to report rating    7/6/08 2 3 1 After 4 visits in 5 months I have had enough. Dr. Widom has a captive market in Fort Collins otherwise I canot imagine why anyone would want to see her. She is very abrupt, does not listen, does not answer any questions about side-effects or explain pros & cons of treatment options with any patience. She is rushed and short with you during appointments. I regret that I wated my time and my health with her.

:( Click to report rating    6/15/08 1 3 1 I called her after going to the E.R. for complications. She told me to go to an intensive care unit instead of asking her for an office visit any time in the next 6 weeks! I'm finished with her. "Dr." Widom is the most arrogant, uncaring "Doctor" that I've ever wasted time on. Never again!

:) Click to report rating    12/16/07 5 5 5 I think Dr Widom is an excellent doctor and I am sorry for those that have had a bad experience with her. She certainly knows what she is talking about.

:( Click to report rating    7/25/07 2 1 1 She obviously hasn't opened a book other than her checkbook in quite a while. She has stated repeatedly that seizures have not been linked to diabetes when there are mountains of studies that state otherwise. She is obviously there for the paycheck not the patient.

:( Click to report rating    4/30/07 1 1 Staff wouldn't recognize the Dr.(nor current lab work) in Denver that referred me to Dr. Widom. Insisted I see a local Dr. to get another referral "to make sure I really needed a specialist". After that, it was a 6 week waiting period for an appointment! Didn't matter that I'm sick and needed her help. That was not a good start to making me feel welcome as viable patient. Needless to say, I found another Dr. qualified doctor who wanted to treat me. Shame on her and her staff.

:| Click to report rating    4/29/07 1 2 Dr. Widom is very unprofessional. She blamed her office staff many times for her own mistakes. She'll be inclined to prescribe drugs first before having explaining how a problem could be help by diet and/or life style changes. Yes, she seems to have a very challenging attitude.

:( Click to report rating    4/2/07 4 2 I have to agree with the other two negative reviews. She had an attitude and was not very nice. Didn't offer any medical advice. Only there to prescribe medication. She is the third edocrinologist I have taken my daughter to and none of them were personable, helpful or listened. Very very discouraging.

:( Click to report rating    1/15/07 5 1 She's an awful doctor. Doesn't listen and doesn't care. Being as she's an endocrinologist she should KNOW that the standards for normal thyroids levels have changed.
