I HAVE BEEN SEEING DR. DAMIANO SINCE 1983. I AM FROM ST LOUIS AND HAVE FLOWN TO DENVER FOR RK AND OTHER ADJUSTMENTS FOR BOTH EYES AS I WAS VERY NEARSIGHTED. RECENTLY I FLEW TO DENVER FOR A CATARACT OPERATION. ALL OPERATIONS HAVE BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL WITH NO PROBLEMS. DR. DAMIAMO AND HIS STAFF HAVE BEEN VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE, HELPFUL AND COURTEOUS. I HAVE BEEN TO NUMEROUS DOCTORS IN ST LOUIS FOR NORMAL EYE APPOINTMENTS AND THEY ALL MARVEL WITH THE WORK DR. DAMIAMO HAS DONE. NO COMPLICATIONS AFTER 26 YEARS OF RADIAL KERATOMY OPERATION ON BOTH EYES. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. DAMIANO.

Dr Damiano has been my doctor for more tha 24 years. He has performed various procedures on me with excellent results. He removed cataracts on my 92 year old mother with no complications or pain. Dr Damiano is one of the few doctors who does corneal transplants. He is a dedicated and caring doctor with an unblemished record inthe 40 plus years he has been a surgeon. In reference to the previous writers there has to be more history on their experience. I would not like to see this doctor`s reputation marred by the results of two people.

As a result of surgery by Dr. Richard Damiano to remove a cataract, I am now blind in that eye. A retrobulbar needle was inserted into my eye, irrevocably damaging the optic nerve. Along with losing the sight in my eye, it also caused glaucoma in that eye. And it also caused my brain to "see" entopic release phenomena. It appears constantly in my vision as a ghostly weblike pattern, day and night, eyes open or closed. A neuro ophthalmologist diagnosed the condition but had no success with treatment, so that condition continues to compromise my vision. Another previous surgery by Dr. Damiano a few years ago in my other (sighted) eye (called non-penetrating radial keratotomy), caused that eye surface to be steep and uneven. Glasses do not help and a contact lens is difficult to fit and to wear. That eye also has a cataract awaiting removal. How would I rate Dr. Damiano's performance? Zero.

Dr. Damiano is a terrible physician. Do not listen to the other review. I had been highly recommended to Damiano; it was the worst mistake of my life. I have kerateconus and I had cataract surgery. The surgery went terribly wrong. I had extreme pain and a loss of vision afterwards. Dr. Damiano simply ignored my pleas for help. I had a vitreous hemorrhage in my eye. Instead of calling an ambulance to take me to a hospital. Damiano gave me $20 cab fare and said I would be responsible for the return trip. Because of his negligence, I suffered permanent optic nerve damage and contracted secondary glaucoma. Had I sought the help of another physician when this first happend, I might have saved my eyesight.

Outstanding Doctor. Have recommended him to many friends who have been equally pleased with his services. Dr Damiano is highly experienced who will not perform a procedure until it has been perfected. He is the only doctor who does sutures following Radial Keratotomy where vision has decreased after several years. This procedure which he developed, deepens the cornea to bring vision back to original levels following PRK. He has assembled a very caring, helpful and knowledgeable staff.
