I feel like I lost 5 years of my 20's due to the care from Dr. Marc Lipachutz. I believe he misdiagnosed me during that time, the meds he prescribed made me worse and eventually I developed symotoms I never had, and due to the way I think feel and act now, I feel certain it was due directly to those meds. I spiraled worse and worse in his care and since I have since weened myself over one year ago, I have not had one panic attack since, and all the new spymtoms disolved on their own. At one point he actually called me and yelled and cursed at me on the phone while trying to fix a complication. NEVER would I recommend his care.

Dr Marc Lipschutz made poor judgments concerning my physical and mental health. He was unapproachable as a human being and unreachable as a physician. I would not recommend him.

I have been a patient of Dr. Lipschutz for many years, and have had an excellent experience with him. He has been available during emergent times in my life, he works with me with medications, and I think very highly of him. I am a bit shocked to read the negative reviews of him and his office. I find neither to be true. I take my health care very seriously and would not tolerate the type of behaviours described above. I would question the credibility of those entries. I recommend him most highly.

Wow. I could not disagree more with these reviews. Maybe just disgruntled people write reviews and satistified patients don't? A) He's not a dinosaur. B) He's incredibly empathetic. C) He's very flexible about appointments. D) He's always called me back. E) He's taken a patient, thoughtful approach to my meds and care. Finding a shrink you click with may take a few tries - you need the right chemistry w/ a doctor to share all your feelings. Maybe these people just didn't click w/ him? I've found him very receptive to reviews and criticism.

I found Dr Marc Lipschutz to be dreadful physician. He is sarcastic & has a chip on his shoulder weighing a ton. He prescribed effexor despite me telling him of my seizure disorder during his initial evaluation. As a result, I wound up hospitalized at the Univ of Penn for 3 weeks due to his negligent prescription. During my hospitalization, I unfortunately discovered too late that he has a terrible reputation, especially with women. I further discovered that others find him condescending & mean. In hindsight, I think he has a real problem & should seek help himself. In my personal opinion, Marc Lipschutz is the worst physician I have ever gone to. He almost cost me my life. Thank you RateMD for letting me express myself. I hope this review stops another from putting their faith in this man. Penn referred me to an outstanding psychiatrist, whose rating on this site is a 10. So please do not give up...there are still psychiatrists available who are dedicated physicians AND humans!

Marc Lipschutz seems unprofessional+ I feel treated badly by him. Dr. Marc Lipschutz didn't listen to any of my concerns+ wouldn't schedule apptmts when I needed them due to suicidal feelings. Marc lipschutz doesn't give your concerns careful consideration+ respect. Dr Marc Lipschutz is unable+ unwilling to be a partner in your care. This physician knows how to make you feel very badly about yourself.

marc lipschutz has a dirty office, i saw a dead mouse under the brown sofa. unable to get a quick appointment. office has no privacy. dr marc lipschutz is unable to understand multi- cultural issues.

Dr Marc Lipschutz doesnt know basic medicine/pharmacology/kindness. My relative had a severe, life altering stroke while in his care. All involved were unable to reach him EVERY TIME called! Always rambled on how busy his practice is, making her feel guilty for even trying to seek help. The depression/grief that occurred after this was mind boggling. His lack of empathy/incompetence/quickness to judge was outrageous. If you are seeking even the minimum standard of care/treatment a caveman could give, definitely skip having your money pilfered by this quack. There are 1000s of other MDs in Philly who want to heal not harm, just look at this site! Because of all this + more, it is my opinion that he gets the lowest rating possible, like most raters have already done. Their comments are so accurate, it is chilling! It is truly a shame there are no zeros on the scale!

Dr. Marc Lipschutz misdiagnosed my brain tumor as bipolar disorder. After months of pain, fear, wasted time and wasted money, I went to Dr. Bryan Desouza, who ordered tests and discovered it. Dr. Lipschutz almost cost me my life.

My opinion of Dr Lipschutz is very poor.I found him to be thoughtless,unempathetic & disinterested.At the lowest moment in my life, Marc Lipschutz hurt me very deeply.I saw him while studying at UofP.Not known to him,I was a still closeted gay male who had been brutally ****ed by my step dad for 6 years.I was falling to pieces very rapidly.I never worked up the courage to tell him due to his judgmental & skeptical opinions about other things which I had confided in him. Marc Lipschutz sees things in black or white,true or false,right or wrong terms.I needed to be believed & not judged;he is not wired this way.He never prescribed meds,a fact which still shocks me & my medical colleagues.Anyway,my self-loathing & depression greatly increased,leading eventually to my attempting suicide.After that,I went to another therapist who brought me back from the depths of hell. Marc Lipschutz has very poor ratings on dr & insurance ratings boards. I would recommend he be

OMG! I found Dr. Marc Lipschutz to be totally harsh. HURTFUL! He frowns. When he isn't frowning, he smirks. His office is so double gross. It smells like molding food- maybe vomit. His rep is dungeon dwelling on other sites. Anyway, I would so avoid him cuz he's ancient. He really needs to take humble pills or something. When the other raters say he's arrogant, they are right. He is the definition of ARROGANT. Returns phone calls NOT! In my op, he has the pathetic little man syndrome.

Under the care of Dr. Lipschutz, my life greatly improved. I have Bipolar - Type 1. When I first saw Dr. Lipschutz, I had just been released from a mental hospital, after having simultaneously severe depression and mania. Dr. Lipschutz did not suggest a typical fast-acting anti-depressant that would immediately make me feel happy and drugged. We were patient and planned things for the long run. After two months, I was already feeling much better. We slowly worked out the medication over the course of about nine months. More than a year later, I have since left the Philadelphia area; and I'm still taking the same doses of the same medications, as prescribed by Dr. Lipschutz. Before I had seen Dr. Lipschutz, I had seen seven other psychiatrists. By far Dr. Lipschutz is the best of all eight. When mentally ill patients feel bad, they often want quick fixes, such as high doses of anti-depressants and anti-psychotics. Please, for yourselves, be patient with your psychiatrists.

This Doctor is horrible. He is an ego maniac. He does not recognize the symptoms of Major Depression. He was negligent in diagnosing my illness, which caused my depressive symptoms to increase tremendously. He caused me more emotional trauma, and financial hardship. If you are damaged, he will traumatize you even worse and then blame you for it. He should have his license revoked!

My experience with Dr Marc Lipschutz was dreadful. Emotionally abusive, fresh, condescending, sarcastic, mean, sardonic, know-it-all, self impressed, etc. To say his office and its bathroom is disgusting and filthy as others have said is an understatement. You have to sign in your name in a huge building so privacy in nada. He gave me prozac with no follow up for 2 weeks, despite the fact that I was literally ready to fly out my window. Impossible to reach by telephone, promises to call back but doesn't, says things and later denies saying them, impressed with materialistic things, no knowledge of modern medicine or drugs, suspicious of people with cultural and different life experiences, disbelieving of anything beyond his life experience (which seemed to be everything!) His constant negative digs greatly hurt me. It took me 5 years to go back and seek help from another therapist. Thankfully I have. What a difference! Dr. Lipschutz should not be allowed near those who are suffering.

He has the worst waiting room ever!The bathroom is smelly & dirty w/ a plunger in the bathtub & years of grime on the floor.I had to use a kleenex for toilet paper.The rugs are stained, w/ dead insects.There are webs on the ceiling.There is a broken clockradio which if you turn off, you hear the patients & him through the wall!EVERY WORD!The orange fabric chairs are in a claustraphobic corner.He eats in his office cuz the stale food smell is nauseating.He gave me samples of risperidol from his kitchen cabinets,but never wrote down how much.When I asked about the medication, he inquired what I was taking and how much!My new great Dr said that the medication made no sense & put me on prozac.Also,my new Dr. called me sev X to check on how I was feeling on it& requires blood tests for all meds.I agree he's arrogant & sarcastic.If you stand up or disagree w/ this guy or say you are upset w/ him, LOOK OUT! he takes himself extremely seriously & can be mean. Hard to get appointmt. AVOID!

I was a student in Penn's Medical School where he also taught. Perhaps I should have checked his ratings and comments on Penn's blogs and the ratings handbook by the students there (1.3 out of 4) first, but hey- at least it was free because I was a student. Only lasted a few appointments, but learned how not to act as a physician. You might as well go to the corner bar for advice... at least you will not be talked down to. There is a huge hole in his medical knowledge... if any actually exists... beyond uh, 1902. ARROGANT manner. HORRIBLE REP. RUN RUN RUN! By the by, I am now on staff at Penn and doing great!

I am so glad that this sevice is available for us to check out Drs before we see them! I saw him a few years ago as a student at Penn when I was totally depressed due to a sexual assault & thought seeking help was the answer. At times he was able to falsely "act" sympathetic, but due to his overwhelming sarcastic attitude and inability to return phone calls when I was feeling suicidal and afraid to leave my dorm, I luckily called Penn's Women Center and was sent to another psychiatrist who saved my life. This man was so totally impressed with his abilities and his experience that he was unable to see me, his patient. If you need a kind and attentive person interested in you and your suffering, you should def look elsewhere.

I gave Dr. Lipschutz low ratings because he was totally unempathetic and borderline arrogant. I have since found another therapist who is great!! He does not have a working knowledge of current medicine which was necessary to discuss my friend's condition. He also stated he would call me many times, but did not. I would avoid him at all costs!
