:) Click to report rating    7/21/09 5 4 5 Dr Jacobs has been our internist for 20 years. We recommend him without reservation to everyone we know. He has saved the lives of friends with smart diagnoses, has insisted that we follow up on our most seemingly minor concerns, and is truly and fully engaged with us on a personal and professional level. I have no doubt that he would go to the ends of the Earth to protect our health.

:) Click to report rating    5/15/09 4 3 3 brilliant doctor, who cares for his patients. If you call, he will get on the phone, and if it could be anything, he will see you right away. he comes up with diagnoses that no one else will and he is almost always correct. I had two issues that no one else could figure out, and he did, quickly. He will send you for tests and specialists, which is a pain, but it is better than being told come back in two weeks if it doesn't get better. Better to be healthy and alive, and have everything considered. As others say, if you want to stay healthy see him. He is quite expensive, though, doesn't take any insurance (as far as I know), and is a bit arrogant. But arrogance in a smart doctor is ok with me, particularly if he/she spends time with the patient to really listen to what is going on.

:( Click to report rating    3/11/09 4 4 1 The Bernie Madoff of doctors... beware...Having had Dr Jacobs as my physician I can say he should stripped of his license. His arrogance beyond belief .When I have the cash I will sue him for malpractice..

:( Click to report rating    4/11/08 3 2 1 This doctor may be bright, but he is arrogant and insecure which results in his constant testing and referrals for the smallest thing. Wanted me to have a full body scan for a mouth infection. Would never recommend him.

:) Click to report rating    3/25/08 5 3 5 David has been my GP for many years and is the best doctor I have ever encountered. He will aggressively work a health problem until there is resolution. He does not hesitate to tell you the real deal, uncomfortable as that can be at times, such as you really need to lose 10 lbs.

:) Click to report rating    1/5/08 5 4 5 Dr. Jacobs has been guiding me through a year of recovery. Recovering from a sister's breast cancer diagnosis and the loss of a father and two grandparents (all of which happened in four short months.) When I walked into his office early last year, I was emotionally numb. It took me four months to figure that out. I wasn't afraid to be sick, but I was terrified to be sick without a doctor who could get me the best care, tirelessly advocate on my behalf, and do whatever possible to make me well. He is exceptional. He is connected to all of the brightest, most professional specialists in DC; he responds within 24 hours to any message; and he is incredibly thorough and proficient. He changed my life by diagnosing severe anemia - I do endurance races and couldn't figure out why I struggled so much - and has been my trusted resource on everything from medicine to nutrition. He has no tolerance for people who aren't willing to change, but he will be loyal to you for life if you are.

:| Click to report rating    12/3/07 5 4 2 David Jacobs seems unduly focused on what others think of him. He once referred to himself as the "Nordstrom's of doctors." When I saw him, he gossiped at some length about other patients (whom we both knew), which made me wonder what he said about me to others. He seems like a good doctor and he certainly is well-connected with other specialists, but I found I would rather see a doctor who did not impose his or her psychological issues on me.

:) Click to report rating *  10/18/07 5 5 5 Dr. Jacobs is definately the best doctor in DC. He is passionate, intuitive, and brilliant. I came to doctor Jacob's after a botched back surgery that resulted in a life-threatning MRSA infection around my spine. He was my advocate in tirelessly calling and searching for the best doctors in D.C. He called me at home everyday, and spoke to each and every doctor to monitor my situation. Instead of waiting two weeks to see the best doctors in DC- I was in their office the same day. He was instrumental in my 1 year recovery and gave my family hope that all would be well in the end. Recently, at age 36 he sent me for a colonoscopy and a tubular adenoma was removed- in a few years this precancerous polyp would have spread throughout my body as an agressive cancer. The only symptom he based the request procedure was an anemic blood result. Do you want treatment for illness or do you want to prevent the illness-that is the difference.

:| Click to report rating    12/7/06 2 2 Incrediably arrogant and self absorbed. Kept me waiting while wearing a flimsy paper gown for about an hour and half. When I exclaimed displeasure, he berated me for not appreciating what a top physician he is. He was so busy chewing me out, he forgot to look at the results from my breathing test and did not detect a severe lung infection. (Of course, he didn't forget to charge me for the breathing test.)

:) Click to report rating    8/29/06 5 5 In the 15 years that I have been his patient, Dr. Jacobs has been superbly professional and a caring, competent physician, who has kept me healthy and vigorous at the age of 86. Moreover when you call his office, you talk to a human being, not a tape! He never hesitates to send me to other top medical specialists when the need arises. Another specialist he sent me to described him as "super complete."

:(      11/30/05 1 1 David Jacobs, in addition to being probably the most expensive doctor in Washington, is also arrogant beyond belief and insulting too. Among other things, he bizarrely accused me of reselling prescription drugs he'd prescribed and threatened to fire me as a patient unless I agreed (at $400 a pop, not covered by insurance) to have routine check ups every other month (I am in perfect health). Avoid this charlatan at all costs. My only question is why I didn't leave him sooner.
