I visited this office today after locating Dr. Neviaser on my preferred provider list. I assumed that b/c the office was part of the GW hospital, he would be a great physician. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! He lacks any bedside manner and was completely rude. He entered the exam room, without even saying hello (I smiled, and he frowned at me). He proceeded to ask me one question, and sat down making absolutely no eye contact with me whatsoever. I could go on about every detail about my appointment, but he was extremely inattentive, and just down right mean. He honestly looked extremely unhappy to be in the office seeing patients. As he is a bit on the elderly side, I suggest retirement may be his best option right now, and if not, he should learn how to interact with patients in a pleasant manner. I seriously wish I could get my co-pay back!!! As it is, I will be going elsewhere for a proper consultation for my problem:(

I got in BEFORE my scheduled appointment time. I have an injured finger--after assuring me it would heal, he put alot of emphasis on getting me to move it, saying he's worried about my mobility, which I hadn't thought of. He wants me to come back weekly, and when I expressed my concern about my coverage, he immediately had the insurance person in the office come talk to me. After reading some of the other reviews on here I was nervous, but he was perfectly nice and helpful.

Dr. Neviaser came highly recommended when I broke my shoulder. I found his sense of humor to be dry and enjoyable. His knowledge and expertise are extraordinary and I prefer those qualities to charm school commentary. He insisted that physical therapists treat me "passively" which was the best possible method. I had a superb result, with my only problem being the GWUMFA computer system malfunctioning one day.

He was consistently unpleasant. Seemed to spend more care in writing the letter to thank the referring physician than to me. Staff told me that he liked to work on patients like me who were covered by Workers' Compensation because then he gets his whole claimed fee with no reduction due to an insurance company.

I saw Dr. Nevaiser about a very painful wrist. He had an xray taken, which was not definitive, and then sent me for an MRI, which showed nothing. He did not seem particularly interested in my symptoms and diagnosed it as a "sprain," which I've been told is a totally meaningless diagnosis. Luckily he then sent me to an OT, and the one I picked was excellent, Laurie Rogers. She gave me a real diagnosis TFCC (I think) and then referred me to another orthopedist who actually understands hands and wrists.

I found that by getting the first appoinment of the day kept me from having to wait. Dr has NO bedside manner and doubt his people skills will improve this late in the game. I had him release a trigger finger. Had to wait several weeks for a surgery appointment date. While the surgery was straight forward his interaction with the staff was gruff with lots of complaining while in the OR. Follow up care lacked concise instructions, expectations or other 'normal' Dr input after a surgical event. I was warned about his attitude but from what I learned about other Dr's - his knowledge and ability was superior. Too bad he has not been able to develop a positive persona.

I am late writing this but feel I should nonetheless - In December 2004, I manually grated some fruits and nuts for some of the Christmas baking I was to do. I apparently over did it. Two hours later, my right hand atrophied and drooped, as if I had ALS. I could not button my blouse or fix my long hair. In July 2005, I was referred to Dr. Robert Neviaser. He operated on my hand on August 15, 2005. That was my lucky day! After the surgery, my right hand returned to normal. I am as I was before! He is a marvel! I took very little notice of waiting room time, or whether he was voted comedian of the year. What I did notice was his quiet contemplative manner, warm personality and his enormous skill that few are given. Everytime I comb my hair I say to myself, "Thank you God, for Dr. Neviaser!"

I am a patient of Dr. Neviaser. After my surgery, I complained to neviaser about the unbearable pain. He told me, in so many words that I was imagining it. On my first follow-up after the surgery, I complained again about the pain worsening and I was told that that could not be right. Two days later when visiting family, I became very ill and had to be rushed to a different hospital in Maryland. I was told that my hand where I had surgery had become very infected and it appeared to be spreading. They discharged me on the promise I'd return to GW, which I did. Upon my return, I was quickly ushered from Dr. Neviaser's office and admitted to the hospital for an entire week!!! though I hear people sing this Dr.'s praise, I find his God complex to be potentially death-dangerous, his level of arrogance and seemingly icompetence leads me to believe the he needs to either retire or be retired. I have another followup with him next week and will print this for him as well.

I went for a follow up exam for a severed finger at Medical Faculty Associates with Dr. Robert Neviaser. I was unprepared for Dr. Neviaser complete indifference to my situation. When he came into the exam room, he barley acknowledged I was in the room; he quickly looked at my finger and my x-ray. When I tried to ask questions Dr. quickly dismissed me. I was then informed that the base bandages would be removed. I then asked if my finger would be numbed. The answer was "no". My response was no way then. I talked the medical professional into at least letting me soak the finger in hydrogen proxy hide (to loosen the crusted blood) and letting me pull off the bandage. About five minutes later Dr. Neviaser came back in grabbed my hand and was about to rip the bandage off. I told him there is no way that I could handle that."It is your finger, you can sit here all day and pick out it for all I care". Go to youtube search for "Neviaser" to see what this doctor put me through.

I would not recomend this Dr to my worst enemy. I was once forced to wait in the office 3 hours past my appointment in order to see him. After doing extensive surgery on my shoulder, I was sent home with medication that my young daughter was given for a toothe ache. I suffered like an animal. This man was extremely unpleasent and condosending when asked simple questions. I have spoken to many people that have worked with him in the medical field and they all have the same impression that he literally has no people skills but for some odd reason he is respected in the feild of shoulder work. I would not recomend this doctor to my worst enemy...

With the exception of one appointment in which I had to wait about an hour, the rest of the appointments I had almost no wait at all. Hecould improve a lot in people skills. He was never rude, but did often seem to be in a rush. All of that was offset by how knowledgeable he is, the excellent results from the surgery and the care in the suture to reduce scar tissue.

Neviaser's office made me wait one hour beyond my scheduled appointment, despite my arriving and filling out paper work prior to my scheduled time. He finally entered the room and didn't even greet me or introduce himself. I asked him how he was doing, trying to break the ice, and he just grunted. He was very rushed and agitated, and whenever I tried to respond to an inquiry he would make, he would cut me off and lecture me. By the end of the appointment, I had lost all confidence in him. He pronounced his diagnosis in only a few minutes, and ignored my inquiries as to concerns/complications that could arise from the condition. I am definitely seeking a second opinion. I only rated him a "three" for knowledge, b/c despite his disregard for courtesy and harried bedside manner, my second opinion "may" confirm his diagnosis.

He performed arthroscopic shoulder surgery on me. We weren't sure what exactly he would need to do until he got in there. My surgery was late in the day, so he was not around when I came to in recovery. I certainly wouldn't expect him to wait around, but he left no word about what he had needed to do in the surgery, or how things went. The next day, when I called his office to find out, he had his receptionist tell me that he would discuss the surgery with me at my follow-up appointment which was still two days away, and said nothing else. It turned out that the surgery entailed the procedure that he had said would most likely be required, and that he thought it went fine. I don't know why I needed to wait until three days after my surgery to find this out. That was several years ago and my shoulder problems are still not resolved, but shoulders are tricky. The many physical therapists I've been to speak highly of him. At the least, he needs some work on his people skills.
