For a Buddhist nun who is supposed to have taken a vow of poverty (she advertises this in brochures in the lobby), she is the most mercenary Dr. I've even heard of. On top of a $35 annual administrative fee, she requires multiple appointments for issues that could have been taken care of during an annual exam. Want a Rx for birth control? Make another appt. Have a question about your test results? She won't return your call, you have to make another appointment because she wants the insurance money. Also, her bedside manner is curt and rushed. An annual exam is done in 5 minutes but she still takes the time to lecture you about how you should vote and the sorry state of health care. Avoid her practice, it is an all-around negative experience.

I have bee going to Dr. Byrne since I was 18 years old and she hasn't gotten any better over the years. She's cold and unpleasant to talk to and she also charged the wrong insurance company which I was unaware of and now this bill is on my credit negatively. Avoid her if you can, she's horrible.

Please avoid Dr. Byrne. Not only is she abrassive, unhelpful and has a gentle touch of a dying elephant. (When removing my pre-cancerous cells she said "LET'S ROCK THIS PLACE!!!", while I laid there crying and upset. Aside from all this, her office seems to be involved in a perpetuous shake down of her patiens - I am writing this review after being called just yesterday 04/6/09 for $44 for alledged no show in.... 11/04!!!!! (and this is not the first time either - every time I came for an appointment there seemed to have been another "outstanding" payment on my account) If I only did that no show as she claims, I would spare myself a lot of grief and worry.

Not only was she abrasive, but when I had an irregular pap smear followed by a colposcopy, she scheduled an additional and out of date and unnecessary procedure. Thankfully, I got a second opinion. Definitely do not go here.

Had her during my first pregnancy and she delivered my first girl. Love Byrne. She's great. Couldn't deliver my second girl with her as she didn't do GYN any longer so changed. After giving birth with my second daughter i was back with Byrne in a heart beat. she's the best. very professional and knowlegeable. never had to wait either.

dr byrne delivered both of my babies, had complications with the first. she was awesome, always returned calls, very efficient and the same with my second, no problems with the staff at all. she got the through two pretty healthy pregnancies after 2 miscarriages. she tells it like it is, if you want to be babied this isn't the doctor for you. my son was in complete distress and had she not had the skill to save him he might not be here today. she is very professional and shoots from the hip take it or leave it. i think she was fantastic.

Incredible. All of the previous posts completely described how I felt about Dr. Byrne. I am a 20 year old female, and went to Dr. Byrne for my first pap smear. In addition, I feared that I may have an STD (which thankfully I didn't). She in no way made me feel comfortable and despite telling her how nervous I was, she did absolutely nothing to appease my fears or make me feel comfortable. She hardly asked me any questions about my health/sexual history and was condescending toward me. She was so abrasive and had absolutely no bedside manner. She did nothing to make me feel more comfortable or less nervous for my first pap smear. She seemed very rushed and truly made me leave the office with a bad taste in my mouth. I will definately not go back to her for my annual visit.

I thought she was particularly unpleasant. I went in for a problem and when I asked her if she could run some tests, she said I should have gone to a clinic! Would never go back.

I'm looking for a dermatologist right now- so glad I found this site. Had I seen it before my appointment with Byrne, I *probably* still would've went because I was desperate to get seen before my insurance expired- and she was the only female doctor with availability within the two-month period. And with good cause. She is terrible. Dr. Byrne reprimanded me for doing my own research regarding a condition I was concerned about. All of the comments on here, save the positive ones, ring completely true with my experience. And her office stinks. The most perplexing part, however, was probably the $25 administrative fee they charge to NOT CALL you with test results. They said 3X "if you don't hear from us, that's a good thing." I think this practice is extremely irresponsible, not to mention unethical. They're charging patients more to do less work. Notifying patients of lab results is critical, so if need be, they can seek help ELSEWHERE. No one in their right mind would go back.

She was quick, knowledgeable and professional. I find that personally I do not require my gynecologist to baby me, or "treat me special", so please take this into account when considering my rating.

It is coming up on my thrid anual exam with Dr. Byrne and every year at about this time I start to mentally prepare myself for the aweful time I am about to experience. I stayed in the past because I didn't want to go through the work of filling out the paperwork and creating a medical history for something that took 15 minutes a year. But after having some extra tests last year and having to go in two extra times, I'm not going to do it to myself again. I just made an appointment with a new doctor and I'm so happy about it, although my friends might miss the stories I tell them about my "mean militant gyno". The previous comments on this site are dead on in my experience with her.

I'm throwing in the towel after 2 years of going to Dr. Byrne. Although she did prescribe a birth control pill that works well for me, I'm tired of her abrupt nature and cursory evaluations of my health. She seems to be rushed every time I go there and speaks condescendingly. Getting pap smears from her is terribly uncomfortable because I'm so tense from dealing with her. I guess I thought all doctors were like that but now that I see other peoples' glowing reviews of other gynos, I'm leaving her! She doesn't appear to be at the top of her field.

She was absolutely awful. She was rude, condescending, and didn't really answer any of the questions I asked her. She was also terrible about following up with test results and completely un-compassionate in her delivery of bad news. She yelled (yes yelled) about insurance companies and expressed contempt for young people. I left her office in tears - from her atrocious character more than anything. I would recommend that all women stay away from her at all costs.

I've been going to this doctor for 2 years and have repeatedly cast aside her abrupt, unfriendly manner, repeated references to "insurance nightmares," lack of bedside manner, etc. However, her latest lack of tact and responsivness is too much. When I went in for my latest visit, which was 2 weeks ago, I was told that I'd be called the next day for the results of my pregnancy test and whether the prescribed antibiotics would be safe to take. Its been two weeks and waiting. Each time I call, I get the same rude receptionist saying "call back in 10 days." Today, on the 2 week anniversary of my initial visit, and still waiting for my pregnancy test results, the message indicates that the office is closed all week. Unbelievable. I highly recommend that you not see this doctor. No one should have to wait 3 weeks to be notified whether or not they are pregnant.

I agree with the negative comments on Doctor Byrne, she is rude, dismissive, and clearly angry about how insurance agencies pay her, which anger she takes out on her patients. At my annual exam, she required me to make a new and separate appointment just to get a birth control prescription - totally ridiculous. I have gone three times for three appointments, and will not go again.

Dr. Byrne has a harsh bedside manner and rushes appointments, insisting that questions can only be answered with several more appointments. I found that those "next appointments" were just as rushed. She is clearly angry at insurance companies but taking it out on patients is unprofessional. Her quick, rushed, and cold manner has left me on the verge of tears.

I find Dr. Byrne to be very cold and dismissive. While she seems to be knowledgeable, it takes numerous appointments to get something done and she constantly complains about insurance companies. Often she seems distracted and grumpy, no exactly the demeanor to make you feel realxed when you're faced with the stirrups! Also, she seems to forget my information/situation/history and from what I can tell has not reviewed the chart before talking to me.

Dr. Byrne has been my Ob/Gyn for ten years, and I think she's wonderful. She has a holistic approach and she's helped me with several special issues, one requiring surgery (which she did well). Her bedside manner is wonderful.

I had a terrible experience with Dr. Byrne. First of all, as soon as we were beginning my exam she left the room to take a phone call that took 15 minutes. She came back in, and within five minutes, I was pushed out the door without having the opportunity to tell her my medical history. 3 weeks later she calls me and lets me know that I'll need a procedure. She told me that it had to be done immediately, but then laughed and said that she'd be on vacation for 2 1/2 weeks. She's abrasive, cold and quick to get you out the door-- but first you have to plan another appointment so that she can spend thirty seconds to poorly explain test results... that is, she told me I had pre-cancerous cells and then took it back the next minute. I recommend that you avoid Margaret Byrne at all costs.

I have gone to her three times in the last couple of years for simple routine exams. Her bedside manner leaves much to be desired, particularly for an OBGYN. She is cold and very business like in regards to the exam. She is very quick and efficient and tries to get you in an out. This was ok for me since all I needed was my pap and Px. But if you need an OBGYN for something more in depth I would suggest going elsewhere. I will not be going back, I dont like the idea of the additional fee and I am planning to have children in the next couple of years.

She charges a yearly fee. On top of this she is very cold and does not make you feel comfortable. she also would not explain things to me during my appt and wanted me to make another appt just to talk about which birth control i should change to.

I was very unsatisfied with this doctor. She actually put the speculum in and opened the door and walked out of the room to get something. Her bedside manner is truly terrible. She wanted me to schedule an extra appointment so she could explaint a procedure she was recommending. I would not recommend her at all.

She has an awful manner and although she is generally professional or knowlegible, her attitude is cold and all-business. Not an easy person to talk to. Although I was her only patient in the office and had no wait to make an appointment, she made me feel rushed.

Worst professionalism ever experienced with a doctor. During a regular exam the potential of pregnancy was discussed & procautionary tests taken, Dr. Byrne did not convey pregnancy was in fact a storng possibility. More than 3 weeks later, & after several phone calls, Dr. Byrne called at an inappropriate time, to inform me that "everything came back negative," making me think that EVERYTHING meant the pregnancy test as well. A few moments later she informed me,"however, you are pregnant." I later found out that I was NOT pregnant, due to a "spontanious abortion." For a doctor to inform a young woman, who is not trying to get pregnant, not expecting to be prgnant, & not deliberatley preparing her body to become pregnant, over 3 weeks after the prgnancy test is tantimount to malpractice. Most blood pregnancy tests results are obtained less than 24 hours after the test. It should be a doctor's duty to inform patients of test results in a timely manner, with professionalism & compassion.
