:( Click to report rating *  12/22/09 2 1 1 He is inappropriate and incompetent-- perhaps one of the most misogynist physicians I have ever encountered in my adult life. He made inappropriate comments during the visit, was rude to his staff, was over 30 minutes late, and then was not able to give a diagnosis. Save yourself time and money, and stay away. Additionally, there are problems with the management of this office.

:( Click to report rating *  9/1/09 1 1 1 To say that Doctor Bruno was incompetent would be a vast over statement of his knowledge. This is the worst doctor / doctor’s office I have ever been too. Expect to wait for two to three hours. The staff is very rude and can not properly complete even the simplest task like taking blood pressure. She had to do it three times and I had to guide her through it. When the doctor finally sees you, he is 82 and is very forgetful. Be prepared to tell him your symptoms 5 times. I do not think that the doctor is all there. He too is rude and treats you like a choir. The office also lost my records, told me that that they forgot I was waiting and is irresponsive to telephone calls. This doctor is a waste of time and money. Medicine has changed a lot since the 1950’s.

:| Click to report rating *  3/4/09 1 4 1 I found Dr. Bruno through Aetna's network. Visiting him was a mistake. He tried to "nickel and dime" me during my visit for a physical and then tried to force me to make another appointment to get my results, in order to get me to pay another set of fees. Additionally, when asking me about personal health information, he made some very crass remarks. I had to pursue legal options under HIPAA to get the medical records I was entitled to, and that entailed several phone calls to his less-than-competent staff. I was told that I must make an appointment because it was their policy. I informed them that their policy contravened federal law. I finally had to go to the office to get the records and, low and behold, the person standing at the window in front of me was complaining of poor service.

:( Click to report rating *  9/30/08 1 1 1 This office is extremely unhelpful. I sat in their lobby for 2+ hours, got weighed, and they confirmed that I indeed had a heartbeat (yes, it took them a couple of tries to find my heartbeat). The office had no idea how to get me an immunization, and when they filed the claim with my insurance provider, they wrote down the wrong identifier for the office. Incompetence is an extremely kind characterization of the folks I dealt with in this office.

:( Click to report rating    7/18/08 1 1 1 i echo all of the horrible comments. the STAFF IS RUDE AND INCOMPETENT!!! I also echo the referall problem with the staff. I am truely surprised that his staff can even read. They charge you $30 if you cancel w/in 24 hours of an appt but THE DOCTORS DO IT ALL THE TIME?!?!?!? ALSO,the best part i have been affiliated with this office for 3 years and i have seen Dr. Bruno. He looked at my tongue and sent me to a Dermatologists. Ther derm literally laughed out loud (after seeing my tongue) and told he knew of some good GPs.

:) Click to report rating    6/19/08 4 5 4 I had a physical w/ Dr. Bruno several months ago and the staff was clueless. Meanwhile he was cranky and seemed a little upset that I hadn't had a PCP in years. He grumbled about my psych meds, too. Today the staff was very helpful, they have clearly hired a new billing specialist, and Dr. Bruno was punctual and helpful. Something seems to have changed for the better.

:) Click to report rating    6/18/08 4 5 4 I think Dr. Bruno is great. While the staff might not be top notch, I did find them helpful. I have gone back several times.

:) Click to report rating    4/22/08 1 3 2 The comments echoed here are accurate. The staff is terrible, rude and unresponsive. Do not expect to be able to make or change appointments by phone.

:| Click to report rating    4/10/08 1 2 3 Insurance/billing issues aside, the doctor's office is very poorly run, and the staff is the worst I've ever seen

:( Click to report rating    2/28/08 1 1 1 STAY AWAY. Ditto everything said below - 2 hour wait for a physical, and even when I had the first appt of the day at 8:30, he was an hour late to the office. I am in an insurance nightmare because his staff is so unbelievably incompetent. I called 3 times for referrals that they supposedly sent in, and was assured it had been cleared. After I received a letter from my insurance denying my claim due to no referral, I conference called with my insurance provider and when we couldn't reach the Dr's office because THEIR PHONE WAS DISCONNECTED I resorted to going in person to demand my referral... they said they didn't have my records because they were moving next week and so couldn't give me a back dated referral. Unbelievable.

:( Click to report rating    2/5/08 1 1 1 Nightmare of a medical office. Reception staff will ignore you. You are lucky to see Dr. Bruno within an hour of your appointment. He is a likeable enough old man but is severely overbooked and has held out about 10 years past a reasonable retirement point.

:( Click to report rating    1/14/08 1 2 1 The reviews of this doctor's office might be amusing if people's health--or even lives--weren't at stake. I am a (thankfully) former patient. Let me echo these complaints: unhelpful staff; rude; never answer the phone or call you back; getting a referral from them is like pulling teeth (they even insisted I schedule another appointment to come see them, just to redirect a referral they had already approved!); freezing cold waiting room in winter; and to top it off, they misdiagnosed my (minor) problem twice. Then there was that bizarre incident where the medical assistant was cutting the advertising print from the borders of the exam table paper before rolling it on (apparently on doctor's orders)--as if I couldn't see the advertising right in front of me while she was doing it.

:( Click to report rating    12/17/07 1 1 1 I called and made my appointment a month in advance only to get there and the receptionist said I was not on the schedule. CALL IN ADVANCE...it's sad how bad the office looked. what a waste of time...never again.

:( Click to report rating    12/5/07 2 2 2 Dr. Bruno is a kindly old man who just happens to be a doctor. Sadly it seems that he is both hampered and aided by an incompetent office staff. It seemed to me that his staff is caring for his memory loss and occasional incompetence. Every time I was in his office we had the exact conversation almost word for word. If you need a prescription and have the patience to wait for him you should be really careful about self-diagnosis as he will take your diagnosis and run with it. I would also not be surprised if female patients have a significantly different opinion of him as he may harbor several age/sex biases.

:) Click to report rating    11/27/07 1 1 4 I would never recommend going to see Dr. Bruno, based almost entirely on how poorly run his office is. Looking at how good of a doctor he is, standing alone, I would probably give him an average to a little above average rating. Unfortunately, I had problem after problem after problem dealing with his office, to the point where I couldn't take it anymore. I would routinely wait an hour before every appointment, the people who worked there were not knowledgeable, they lost documentation. I could not get prescription refills for my asthma medications for WEEKS. Don't go there (the DC office at least).

:) Click to report rating    11/26/07 1 3 3 The staff sucks! The billing department made a mistake and overcharged me, then sent me to collection. I tried to talk to Dr. Bruno or the office manager, but neither will return my calls.

:( Click to report rating    10/10/07 1 1 1 Just like all the other reviews said, I regret giving this office the time of day. The staff lives up to everything advertised on this site, unbeliveable, DO NOT waste your time going to this office.

:) Click to report rating    9/19/07 4 4 5 This man is a great physician. His poor office staff, which sadly is very common in DC, should not be held against his abilities. He's great at what he does and has years of experience under his belt.

:) Click to report rating    4/6/07 2 4 I agree with the majority that the office is not well run, and the employees are not too friendly. On the other hand, Dr Bruno seemed uncaring at first, but warmed up after a while to show a sense of humor. He was also very knowledgable to my back problem.

:( Click to report rating    3/12/07 1 1 DEAR LORD ALMIGHTY!!! I called to make a simple appointment for a physical checkup and it took 3 calls (!) just to try to schedule. The receptionists had me on hold time and time again and had to ask for my name three times, all the while not once apologizing or providing anything remotely in the way of solid customer service. After finally getting through, when I mentioned that I wanted to schedule a simple physical, I was placed on hold then finally told that I would be able to meet with an assistant. I made an immediate call to my provider and am cancelling Bruno as my Primary Care Provider. I can't imagine how unorganized and unprofessional this place is. I wouldn't trust this place with my any part of my body and I'm not giving them another minute of my time.

:( Click to report rating    3/8/07 1 2 I had an appointment scheduled with Dr. Bruno, and due to weather, wanted to make sure that the appointment was still on. I called Washington Medical Group for 2 hours without any response. Once I got to the office, there were TWO receptionists at the front desk - NEITHER one picking up the phone! I filled out my info and was ready to see Dr. Bruno when the receptionists said that I would seeing his PA because he doesn't come in on Wednesdays (well then why did you schedule me with him in the first place!). The PA was very friendly, but I did not have confidence in her advise. She seemed to answer each question with a "hmm" or "good question", even an "I don't know" once in a while. Overall, not impressed (and neither are my friends) with Dr. Bruno and his posse.

:| Click to report rating    3/8/07 1 2 Dr. Bruno appears knowledgeable and also like he has a tendency to speak down to people. I needed a simple MMR titer and had to wait about an hour and a half after my appointment time to see him. I also wanted to ask him about my hear murmur, but he had barely sat down before leaving again. I did try to ask him, standing in the hallway, and he just looked bothered and not able to hear me. So then I had to pipe up and virtually yell out my medical question in front of the staff and all the people waiting (who'd been there HOURS). Then he took an opportunity to use a multi-syllabic word for 'heart murmur' talk down to me, and treat me like a dipshit--saying that if I'd asked it during the consultation it would have been better! This is like a parody of MD arrogance and crappy bedside manner. Dr. Bruno has a hard time hearing, both literally and figuratively. Knowledge is not a tool to treat people like pinheads.

:( Click to report rating *  2/26/07 1 1 I was not seen to by Dr. Bruno, his asst saw to me and was very nice, but the wait was horrendous, and u had to get your blood taken outside of the clinic and make another appointment to see your results, and pay again to see your results? Automated phone system so you cannot speak to anyone. A factory feel to it.

:| Click to report rating    1/17/07 1 2 I echo almost everything that has been said about Dr. Bruno and his medical practice. Itâ??s obvious that he is a knowledgeable doctor however the office is so poorly run that you barely get time with him. Even when you do spend the time (2 hours+ my last visits) to wait to see him, he is usually more intent on getting you out the door than actually diagnosing you. I stick with him for consistency and the fact that when something really is wrong, he does what he can to help including recommending excellent specialists and up to date medications. If I had read what I did on here before visiting him for the first time, I would have gone elsewhere and saved myself a ton of time and frustration waiting for Dr. Bruno to catch up with the demand in his practice.

:| Click to report rating    1/9/07 1 3 Dr. Bruno is always running behind. My first appointment was toward the end of the day and I waited almost 2 hours to see him. I then scheduled my follow up appointment for the earliest appointment of the day (9am) and he didn't even arrive in the office until 9:50am. The staff is rude and unhelpful. To his credit, Dr. Bruno is obviously intelligent and up-to-speed with current medical practices (which is surprising given that he has to be close to 80 years old). I have changed PCPs due to his staff's lack of professionalism and his extreme tardiness.

:( Click to report rating    12/11/06 1 2 The wait is generally long and terrible. Count on 1 hour, minimum, though they won't take you if you show up late. If I have the first appointment of the day, 9am, I'll often see a doctor around 10:30. He definitely loves prescribing heavy-dosage drugs, even to treat problems for which they're not approved. The physician's assistant spends more time listening to patients. Getting an appointment often requires several days of calling, and don't count on their ever calling you back. Finally, after a year and a half of going to him, he still says "nice to meet you". It is, however, very metro accessible (Dupont).

:( Click to report rating    8/29/06 1 2 I just changed primary care physicians to get out of that office. Office staff is rude, and you can't get a human on the phone. Especially in the billing department. You can't get a real human on the phone for that, and its a doctor's office. The office staff is rude and unhelpful and the Doctor has bad bedside manner. So glad to be gone from them!

:( Click to report rating    8/28/06 1 1 This place would be prime material for a "60 Minute" feature. Lord would Morley have a heyday with Bruno's so called physicians practice. I echo verbatim all the comments before me. These people would be well suited to star in a circus. For the life of me I have no idea how their still in business. I give them 6 months MAX. All who care about your health and your time ---stay far away as humanly posible.

:| Click to report rating    8/7/06 2 2 I was never even able to see the Dr. Bruno. I was told to see his assistant who I later found out was a specialist and I had to pay a larger co-pay for a simple check up! I had routine blood work and they refused to give me the results without having another office visit with the same doctor. I had to pay 2 co-pays in the same week for the doctor to tell me everything is fine! The doctors are nice but the staff is horrendous!

:( Click to report rating    8/4/06 2 1 The other comments are right -- the staff are highly unprofessional and extremely rude. I never saw Dr. Bruno once, but instead worked with his physician's assistant, who insisted on immediately diagnosing me and prescribing heavy medication even though (as I later found out) there was nothing wrong with me. I felt browbeaten after every visit. Stay away from this entire office.

:) Click to report rating    7/26/06 3 4 I have been a patient of Dr. Bruno's since 2000 and although I think he's a fine doctor, his staff is just unbelievably rude and incompetent. I have tried to stick it out for the continuity of having the same doctor but since my last visit (just to get a prescription refill, nothing complicated) I refuse to deal with the office staff anymore and therefore am in search of a new doctor. It's really too bad that the doctors in that office don't do something about it.

:( Click to report rating    7/17/06 1 1 This is the worst run medical office I can imagine, and though Dr. Bruno seems like a kindly person, he is never on time, lied to me several times, and has yet to look at a blood test (or give me a copy to take elsewhere)that was done over a month ago. I spent and hour and a half crying in his office, trying to get the blood test results from him to take to a new doctor, to no avail (and will just pay for a new test out of my pocket at this point). My experience with him was something out of Kafka.

:( Click to report rating    7/12/06 1 1 It is IMPOSSIBLE to get an appointment here. I called with a horrible ear and sinus infection and was told that the next available appt was two weeks away! Not only this, but the staff is incredibly rude and bedside manner does not exist here. It's truly the end of the genteel family doctor.

:( Click to report rating    9/23/05 1 1 Dr. Bruno was a terrible doctor. He took so much money from me and said that nothing was wrong, that it was all in my head, yet wrote vertigo on my chart!!! Very unethical and unprofessional. I had to go to another doctor to find out that I had an infection. He is always yelling at his staff, which are not very nice. And he is ready to prescribe any medicines you want to get you off your back!! Don't ever go to him.
