1/8/13 4 5 4 5 Yes, Dr. Grossman does not waste time and gets right to the issue. He will stop you if you get off track in an answer. Fair enough, I think. He does have the best interest of the patient (YOUR CHILD) as his first priority. I felt he absolutely did not push meds and was very cautious with his approach in using them. Only if necessary, slowly introduce, not quick to increase doses (gives them time.) Again, looking out for the kids. I thought he was nice. My son likes him.  Respond

12/8/12 2 2 1 2 Reviews are correct. Dr Grossman is indeed rude & arrogant . And it has nothing to do with the patient being "in denial" as one reviewer suggested. I am a healthcare professional ( which I did not share with the MD). I was appalled by his behavior. After waiting over 1/2 hour we were brought to exam room & as soon as entered secretary interrupted to say there were 4 people waiting. Doctor sped thru evaluation in 5 min. Without knowing my son he threw a diagnosis at us (in 3min) When I asked what that was- he would not answer but told me to go to his website & read about it. He disregarded any previous Evals my son had (cuz of course only his opinion matters). We need 4 visits to get any answers cuz clearly he is trying to make $. His focus is his pocket not these kids. He has no compassion! Needs lessons on humanity. Was rude to his staff. His office was filthy! Parking was awful. He treated us like we were in a factory assembly line. Looking for a good all around MD? Look elsewhere!

8/9/12 4 2 1 4 The only way I would recommend this man to anyone is if he had the cure to Cancer AND AIDS–both. But wait, if he had the cure for Cancer and AIDS, he wouldn’t be dealing w/people. He’d be somewhere in a corner laboratory.Which is exactly where he belongs. I don’t care how smart he is,he shouldn't deal with children & parents who already have emotional challenges. He's rude, condescending, refuses to answer question and yells. But I was extremely shocked that after our first visit when he interviewed my son and I, he asked the same question that he asked the first time (no, he did not take notes. Nothing was in our file except test results.) He was upset with our answers which were the same as our first visit. This man kept belittling my son with ADHD, by yelling that he’s immature. Ok, umm... This guy should be using his brain in a lab with mice and rats, not with children and families who have already been through an emotional ringer. I have more, but I'm out of space.

3/25/12 2 1 1 3 Dr. grossman has created a convayer belt type of enviroment to see his patients. He is more interested in seeing children with the least amount of mental challenges and behavioral difficulties. If you make an appointment be sure to be ready to wait an extra 45 minutes to see him. He is short in temper, self-involved and very rude as described in many of the previous posts. I am sure any body who posted a positive post about this doctor has a child with very little issues. I advise against bringing you're child here if he/she is severly in need because you'll only waste you're time dealing with this condesending man.

3/20/12 3 1 1 3 I took my child to see doctor Grossman under the insistence of the school teacher who kept complaining that my son was easily distracted and could not focus. He evaluated him and prescribed Focalin. When I tried to discuss other options, he said he could not help and would not refer me to another doctor who could. Unfortunately this doctor only practices drug treatment. If you are into drugging up your child this is the right one for you. But for those of us who know the side effects of the medications used for ADHD we prefer to use a different approach and he does not want to hear it. Some of the side effects of Focalin include insomnia, dizziness, nausea, euphoria, headache, anxiety, anorexia, uncontrolled muscle movements mental/mood/behavior changes tachycardia, weakness, confusion, slurred speech, and severe headaches. How do I know? I'm a nurse practitioner, as a health care provider I would not put a child on these drugs, there are far safer alternatives.

3/9/12 5 5 5 5 Dr Grossman amazed me on the first visit. He is very to the point and accurate. I have seen comments of him being abrupt and sort of rude. I personally think that those are individuals that are in denial and really are not open to his opinion. He is thorough in his testing and is very observant of the child during each visit. We have a long road ahead but I am confident that we will get there with Dr Grossman. I have already seen a difference since he started my son on treatment. We travel from the Bronx to Long Island and it is well worth the trip. A very good family friend sees him on a regular basis for her son. I thank her for her recommendation.

10/14/10 4 5 5 5 My son has been seing Dr. Grossman for a couple of years. My son is in the autism spectrum with behavioral problems. Dr. Grossman has significantly helped my son with his behavioral issues, helping him to be more calm and attend in class. We need to understand that medication addresses "symptoms" presented negative behaviors affecting the child whether he is autistic or ADHD. As a parent i have obtained reassurance, hope and support from Dr. Grossman even though he can be blunt at times as he may tell things that you do not want to hear or accept as a parent. He has been of great help these years when i had to battle in the school system in getting them to understand my son and not blame him for his condition but help him. I would defitenely recommend Dr. Grossman.  Respond

My son was a bit restless the first he has been to a dr and had been restless. Dr. Grossman saw this a a behavioural problem I couldnt convenience him that it was the first time he was behaving like that at the drs office. It was no use telling him he was hungry or that because he had ordered him to leave him toy in the waiting room. I totally agreed with the negative comments I have experienced it myself. As a matter of face I didnt go to see him again. However I felt that was could have been a good neurologist.  Respond

12/30/09 4 4 5 5 Although I agree that Dr. Grossman can be moody, I still see him as a respectable man. I am one of Dr. Grossman's patients and although my mother had problems with him at first, he saved my life and thats all that matters. Yes he seemed rushed at first but as soon as he found a lesion in my brain he made it a priority to reach me. I was only 14 and when I came back to his office he spoke to me like an adult and calmed me through my overflow of tears. I enjoy our appointments and I have even gotten some laughs and humor out of him. It is partially because of him that I am setting off to become a neurologist. I think you people with nasty comments about him should give him another chance. He means well in every possible way.

12/21/09 5 1 1 3 If you like being condescended to, don't mind waiting forty minutes past your appointment time, and are not bothered when someone claiming to be part of a healing, helping, compassionate profession frightens your adolescent child to the point of tears, then he's your man. Don't ask him any questions; he sees this as a direct threat to his presumed authority.  Respond

10/29/09 5 3 4 5 I have read some of these comments and can not believe how obvious it is that some parents are just in denial. I have been seeing Dr. Grossmann for years with 3 of my special needs children. YES he is blunt, straight to the point and he will only tell you the truth NEVER what you want to hear. I have always been accomodated for appointments with little or no advance notice. YES the waiting room is packed, BUT where can you find a specialist that will accomodate his patients on a days notice?? Some people are just NEVER satisfied no matter what that staff offers them, I have heard his secrateries deal with people over the years, those girls take more abuse from parents than anyone should ever have to take..Dr. Grossmann is an excellent Doctor if parents are willing to hear the truth!

10/27/09 1 2 1 3 Yes, you can see by so many other testimonials here that Dr. Grossman Is rude, dismissive, arrogant, & cold. He also rushes through every appointment like its a cattle slaughter, and gets annoyed with questions from anyone. But it's more than that. He is also a greedy opportunist! His office will refuse to have simple tests or visits on the same day so that the Dr. can benefit financially by getting the extra Co-pay money for "separate visits". So even if you live far away, the office will make you come in at separate days for every single visit/test. This man has no interest in helping sick children, His ONLY priority is getting rich! Sadly, He doesn't even try to hide it. Apparently after researching, you'll find that his office is not busy because he is good, It's because of the lack of pediatric neurologists available. Another example of what's wrong with health care in America!

9/4/09 1 2 2 3 Dr Rami Grossman and his staff are rude! My son is 11 and has a diagnosis of aspergers. First of all he missed this diagnosis when my son went to him at 4-5 yrs old. My son was diagnosed at NYU at 6. My pediatrician sent me back there due to my sons headaches and I decided to give him another try. His staff made apptmts for me which they forgot to enter into their computer system which resulted in overbooking. They were rude and tried to pawn me off even though it was thier mistake. Dr Grossman has a very bad beside manner. He is rude, arrogant, gruff and terse. I felt very rushed. On 2 occasions my son tried to ask him questions and he cut him off and never addressed him. We never got to the bottom of the headaches and it ended with me cancelling my 3rd appointment when my son said he really didn't like the doctor. Something needs to be done about his behavior.

8/6/09 2 1 1 2 In all my years going to a Doctor, I've never met such an incredibly rude and harried physician. I felt like he processed my daighter and I through an assembly line. After waiting to see him for an hour, he spent less than 2 minutes with my daughter and got angry when I stopped him from leaving the room to ask a question! He rubber stamps his diagnosis and circles a paper with his website listed rather than spend a moment to answer a question. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS MAN! He is merely a billing machine, there are no "patients" just codes!

6/1/09 1 1 1 1 He is quite arrogant, rude, and selfish. He has treated me like money. His responses are very rude, due to him yelling at me, when I've asked him questions, for natural alternatives. This guy flipped out and said "IF YOU DON'T WANT TO TAKE MEDICATION... WHY DON'T YOU GO TO CHINATOWN, DO TAI CHI... OH AND VOO DOO!!"... hah, how racial! Maybe He dislikes Asians, but that's when I cross the line, and talk badly. When He receieved an Emergency Phone Call, He started yelling at the Parent, going insane. My son who is autic and had a seizure disoder that was ignored by the chief of neurology of a major children's hostipal. The visits are very individaulized for both of my kids, they behave becase he (dr.Grossman) taoght me and my husband to work as a team. He even gave my husband a tough love talk about working with me do give the kids all they need to be the productive kids they are today. Yes he is direct and for me the truth was hard to hear. I belong to several supprot groups for kids on the spectrum Iknow they do not recommend him becase some of the members having negiative feelings about his direct manor and lack of bed side manor. I think that is a mistake on their parts but I know for a fact that hundreds of families including mine are living on the spectrum and are kids are doing better for the excellent care we get from Dr.Grossman and his staff.

Within 5 minutes diagnosed him as PDD because (being a lover of all things trains at that time) he lined up a few cars. His pompous and superior attitude was very unhelpful. My son is now an extremely bright 7 year old who is being treated for ADHD Combined Type. He is as far from PDD as you can get.  Respond

8/1/08 5 5 5 5 This man is a genius! Neurologists are known for lack of a bed-side manner. I found him to be just fine. He is an expert in his field. Rather than shunning my input, he listened to what I had to say and put it to use. He is frank and straightforward...holds nothing back and wastes no time. Where someone else on here sees this as arrogance, I see it as a gift. Behavioral modification is necessary...and he doesnt impliment sit/stay/good dog. He tells you to tell your children you love them while you are holding them for their safety while tantrumming. I dont think I've ever heard a doctor say the word love before him. He cares! People dont go to the neurologist for a cold. He's used to dealing with kids who are seriously disabled,so he is firm, which may catch parents off guard. If you want a doctor who knows his stuff, this is your guy! Check out his site: www.childbrain.com HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

7/21/08 4 4 4 5 Dr. Grossman is very intellegent, and so people might think he is being arrogant, but he is not, it is just his demeanor. Regarding the other parent and the psychological comment, Dr. Grossman's specialty is neurology. If you need a psych. evaluation, you would be better off visiting someone in that specialty. Dr. Grossman spends adequate time with my son (not too much time/not too little time). He's questions are appropriate. Most times questions & answers from the parents along with the physical exam are sufficient for him to make a diagnosis. I have been visiting Dr. G. for about a year and a half already, to rule out microencephaly that my pediatrician incorrectly diagnosed. Dr. G. is good with kids, and I would recommend him.
