12/03/14 5 5 5 5 Dr. Gilbert has been my doctor for 6 years. He is truly a remarkable doctor and very helpful in any questions that may arise. He is kind and patient and I would definitely recommend him to my family and friends. A doctor should be someone you can feel comfortable with when asking a question and Dr. Gilbert fits this category.  Respond

26/02/14 5 4 5 5 Dr. Gilbert is a great endocrinologist and I highly recommend him for your diabetic care. I have seen several other doctors for my type 1 diabetes and Dr. Gilbert is by far the best one I have been to. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. He cares about and takes interest in my overall health. He has helped me bring down my A1C into the target range and encourages me to stay healthy. I have even emailed him a few times with some questions and he has always replied immediately with detailed answers. I feel very confident having Dr. Gilbert as my endocrinologist.  Respond

05/12/13 1 5 1 1 This Doctor is extremely ignorant and arrogant. He couldn't take the two seconds to learn my name, he kept calling me "this patient". I have had diabetes for 34 years and I have come across a lot of ignorant endocrines in my life time but this one is among the worst. He left the door open during the whole appointment as well so everyone in the hallway heard everything that happened. I stood up to him and challenged what he was saying while bringing in the rest of the team in on the situation and he was not happy with this either. He did not listen and does not like to be challenged. I don't find that he is that knowledgeable and his bedside manor leaves much to be desired!  Respond

23/02/12 5 5 5 5 from reading all of these comments, I am comfortable and put at ease for the care of my mother as a first time patient regarding the management of her diabetic issues (78 years) with the addition of helping the family who is also involved with her care. We are grateful for the referral to Dr. J. Gilbert  Respond

21/09/11 5 4 5 5 I self referred myself to Dr. Gilbert not knowing any thing about him but after the first 10 seconds of my appointment with him I was very comfortable with him, his expertise in the matters of my medical condition amazed me as I have a working knowledge of some medical understanding being a front line social worker in a community based health centre. Dr. Gilbert is a health practitioner for the people. Truly a competent physician (not many around these days) but more important a caring/empathizing human being.  Respond

07/07/11 5 5 5 5 Dr.Gilbert and his secretary Helene are truly the most compassionate, helpful and in my opinion, are the last of a number of Physicians in that he returns phone calls the same day,is aware of your fears and does all that he can to make sure you understand the reasons for specific tests and is also very optomistic when dealing with(thyroid cancer)Helene is very precise and friendly and most of all, calm, when you feel your in a hurricane. He is very upfront about what to expect, which helps a lot and always has another suggestion if something isn't working.  Respond

22/02/11 5 4 5 5 Dr. Gilbert is the 4th endocrinologist I've seen for my Type 1 diabetes and he is by far the greatest. Unlike the one who referred me to him, he takes the time to understand me and my life and then looks at my blood sugars so we can find a solution that works properly. He knows how much I hate lows and has even dealt with me crying in his office over it.I am so glad he's my doctor and am more than willing to travel over an hour to see him :)  Respond

27/10/10 5 5 5 5 Dr Gilbert is the 6th Endo I have been to for Type 1 Diabetes and, by far, the best. He is interested in working with his patients to improve their understanding and education of how to manage their disease themselves instead of preaching or instructing. He tries to find solutions that work with your lifestyle instead of suggesting lifestyle changes that will make his job simper. Just love what he has done for me and my quality of life!  Respond

09/09/10 5 5 5 5 I arrived about 30 minutes late for my appointment with Dr Gilbert but they fit me in anyway. I am a Type 1 diabetic and often find it hard to learn more about how to improve my management. He is fantastic. He is very positive, likes to educate and listens to what you have to say. This is my 4th Endo but by far the best.  Respond

29/11/09 5 5 5 5 Dr. Gilbert is not only an excellent professional but a great person as well. He treated me after a thyroid cancer operation and I can only say that I am thankful that I was refered to him by another eminence: Dr. Freeman at Mount Sinai. Recently, I needed an opinion from Dr. Freeman on a totally separate issue non thyroid related and he was there for me as well. These are the Doctors Canada needs! Thank you Dr. Gilbert. MB  Respond
