:( Click to report rating    2/5/10 1 1 1 Please do not see this man! He has a Jekyll and Hyde personality! He called me up at home during dinner to yell at me for 20 minutes for having a CT Scan (which he ordered) and blamed me for his (and his staff's) lack of follow up. He has claims of being a 'good Christian man' who hands out religous pamphlets at his visits... and then proceeds to yell at me over the phone! wow. He was friendly in the office, but as soon as he was faced with conflict, he exploded. I have NEVER experienced such unprofessionalism with any person in the medical field. it was truly outragous! Please be careful with this man!

:( Click to report rating    2/2/10 1 3 1 Oh my, this office is very disorganized, both me and another family member had been seen and the other family member needed some tests done. To this day, he has never commented on the heart test. When we asked for copies of labs and tests he will not let us have them until we pay for them. Then he changed meds without telling her. She was having difficulty breathing. Then he refused to fill my hormones. I would not recommend this Dr. And to you Dr. Penland, I would suggest you take another look at your practice.

:| Click to report rating    11/25/09 1 3 2 He was okay in person during my exams. My experience was nothing spectacular, but he was knowledgeable and nice enough. But the follow-up left a lot to be desired. 2-3 days after an exam, a nurse called with labs and gave info that I believed to be contradictory to what he'd said in person and what I'd found online (for what that's worth...). She refused to have him call me and said I'd have to make another appt. He was "very busy" I was told, and didn't have time to call me back. I wanted 5 mins to confirm the acceptable ranges for BP and cholest, but I would have to come in to the ofc. I’d forgotten about it, until a couple wks later, when I actually got a letter from him "firing" me. I don't feel particularly bothered by having to replace this guy. Just annoyed that while people are complaining about rising healthcare costs, and other docs are offering "virtual" consults, their cell numbers, etc, he's forcing me to make an appointment for this type of thing.

:) Click to report rating    11/20/09 4 4 5 I've been seeing Dr Penland for a couple years and have been very impressed with the time he takes to answer my questions. He seems very thorough in his assessment, and asks questions to make sure he understands all the symptoms. The office staff have always been friendly and efficient.

:( Click to report rating    1/26/09 3 3 1 This Doctor should lose his license. He refused to see me because of a misunderstanding during my hospital stay. He never came in to see me and did not allow me too get a new doctor or explain why I wanted a second opinion but fired me.No compassion no communication skills. Unreal!

:( Click to report rating    12/8/08 2 1 1 After waiting an hour past the scheduled appointment time, Dr. Penland was rushed and obviously not prepared to discuss lab results. With a complicated health history Dr. Penland wanted to order an MRI because the patient could not remember the name of a doctor seen one time several months ago. Ordering unnecessary, expensive test, it is no wonder the health industry is in financial trouble with doctors like Dr. Penland. When called to ask why he ordered the MRI he was rude and unprofessional. He said he did not have time return calls. Dr. Penland lacked knowledge and understanding of his patient.

:| Click to report rating    3/8/08 1 3 3 Seems very understaffed and they really aren't very courteous. Doc is pretty average- sometimes I feel like he doesn't really offer up knowledge or insight into certain issues. I would say that he's a pretty average Doctor who is more "book" oriented than knowledge based both on experience and book knowledge.
