It seems clear from the newsclipping I've attached she is in NFLD for good (not sure why, but this newslink was removed from a previous post?!?). 3/23/10 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | I knew from Appletree that Dr.Russell is already practicing in NFL and they do not know if she will be back. The new pediatrician Dr. Ahmed Ahmed is not replacing her but establishing his practice as a consultant. Dr. Russell's regular patients are being forwarded to family physicians. Unfortunately Dr. Ahmed is not registering new patients for continuity of care, however is easily accessible through referals and walk in patients. From my first visit to him, he seems to be a caring and professional pediatrician. | Respond |

If anyone knows when she will return, or have found another doctor similar to her approach please post. Doctors like her are hard to come by. | Respond |

2/24/10 | 2 | 4 | 4 | 4 | I dont know whether or not I should say I was lucky or unlucky to get my son into Dr Russell's care before she went on maternity leave. My son, now 6 months, only saw her twice for his first 2 appointments after which she went on maternity leave. Since then, the "replacements" have been horrible, long waits, questions unanswered, unhelpful advice. The Appletree staff has not been able to give me any details about whether or not Dr Russell will be returning. Needless to say, I will be looking for a new pediatrician and feel extremely disatisfied, disapointed and duped by this whole situation. | Respond |

Unfortunately it appears she will not be returning - Appletree dodges all questions about possible return dates. We have had 3 appointments with her replacement and are not satisfied at all: over an hour late for a booked appointmen, not very informative, borderline condescending, and he does not take same day appointments. He is the complete opposite of Dr. Russell. We will be looking for a new pediatrician. | Respond |

1/22/10 | 4 | 4 | 5 | 5 | Dr. Russell is amazing with both of my Children. As another mother mentioned, Appletree has 'rearranged' apts for me, and that can be frustrating. Dr. Russell has always been very helpful and encouraging with my breastfeeding, especially through some of my own physical complications associated with breastfeeding! I have the utmost respect for her and am so happy to have her as my boys' pediatrician. Lots of toys and books to let the kids play while in the room, and she uses the toys to be able to see developmental achievements, very hands-on! I never feel rushed when i am with her with my children, and always feel like i am involved and happy with my children's health care. She is always there and happy to answer questions and discuss treatments etc. I Highly recommend Dr. Russell! | Respond |

11/6/09 | 1 | 4 | 5 | 5 | Dr Russell is the best but appletree just sucks.Now that she is on maternity leave, they just have a walk in family doctor filling for her. They are not making any new appts but ask you to come as a walk in. They are honoring Dr Russell's old appointments but keep rescheduling them. Very unprofessional service. And the doctor they have filling in for her, is one of the worst I have come across. He rushed us, asked us to hurry up when we had developmental concerns about my son during his well baby visit and just asked us to come back and see him in another month without looking at or understanding our concerns. I will have to look for another doctor and I sure hope Dr. Russell opens a private practice when she comes back. | Respond |

10/28/09 | 4 | 4 | 5 | 5 | Love Dr. Russel, hate appletree clinic. They just called and cancelled my daughters shots appt for Friday morning 10:30 until late afternoon. I told them I could not because I had a very very important appt myself. The girl basically said too bad because the next appt is not until Nov 27. My daugher will be 7 months then! Arrgg..I'm so upset. This is not the first time they have changed my appt. They have also left us sitting in the waiting room for 1.5 hours once because they didn't register us properly at the desk. We were still waiting for her health card to register ourselves at the kiosk at the time. Love Dr. Russell...but we're forced to find another Dr. that does not associate with Appletree. I just hope Appletree does not loose all Dr. Russell's clients before she returns from maternity leave. | Respond |

I was misled to believe that I would be able to get to see my doctor, Dr. Russell, if there was a need to see the doctor immediately, but infact was then told that if my child was not well and needed to be seen immediately - that I would have to book an appointment (usually weeks in the future). What use would that be, I then was told to see whomever was available or go to the hospital. I am very surprised with this, seeing I came from a pediatrician that would see my child the same day if there was a problem. I think most pediatricians work this way. She was more than willing to take our daughter as a patient, did a complete exam & even followed up our questions from a recent hospital visit. We had such a hard time finding a pediatrician in Ottawa who was accepting new patients but she is great to deal with. Thank goodness we found her!
