Dr. Akhavan is very nice, extremely knowledgeable, and thorough. He is a true professional who cares about his patients, not just about how quickly he can get you in and out and collect your $ like so many other dr.'s these days! He is painless w/ injections, and readily gives samples of products you may need when available.

Amazing experience with DR. Akhavan. Took the time to properly diagnose my skin conditions and very responsive with answering all my questions. I would highly recommend his services.

I have never seen a better doctor than Dr. Akhavan. I don't even live in New York, but was traveling there last fall and wanted to have a rash checked out, ASAP. He squeezed me in and I was nervous to visit a doctor I'd never met. He was SO thorough, so comforting, and answered ALL of my questions. At the time, I didn't have health insurance, and he even told me that he would see me for a follow-up--free of charge. I still think about him when people talk about great doctors. He wants to cross every t and dot every i, and I felt very confident with his diagnosis. Worth the trip from Philadelphia to see him.

I trust Dr. Akahvan adn feel comfortable with him. He takes safe approaches, is thorough, knowledgeable, and has made efforts to go above and beyond to truly be a quality doctor and to ensure his patients are well cared for and happy. I've recommended him to friends, and will continue to do so. I'm very grateful to have found such an overall great doctor.

I totally disagree with the last review. He was not at all "snooty" and was actually extremely helpful and listened to all of my concerns. I saw him regarding concerns with moles, acne, and eczema. He is definitely one of those doctors that likes to tell you everything rather than only the things you're concerned about (he noticed a skin condition I've had since I was a child, but no one has been able to help me with it). He was not rushing me, and definitely. Great bedside manner and small talk. Also, he treated his nurse very nicely (which is pretty rare of doctors these days, and I can't stand when doctors simply treat nurses as minions). I waited about 20 minutes more than scheduled appointment, not bad. Reception staff is not all that helpful or cheery, but I think he makes up for it. If you're looking for a new dermatologist, I'd recommend him definitely.

Thought he examined my skin problems thoroughly. Took the time to listen and understand. Seems knowledgeable. If you need lasers, then I don't think he has much equipment or experience. Actually referred me to other doctors for laser issues. I found him to be a little snooty and condescending, but most Mount Sinai doctors are like that. If you want a doctor who going to be your pal, then he's definitely not it. He's a little stiff, but not rude. Seemed to me that mole removal was his specialty.

Dr. Akhavan is amazing. I have had 5 moles removed and wouldn't trust anyone else. I happened to be in his office to get stitches removed when he noticed a biopsy report indicating that I had malignant melanoma on my shin. He stayed late to fit me into his packed surgical schedule the same day. Months later, no one can believe the thin scar on my leg was from an extensive surgery. He is a kind, compassionate, and highly skilled doctor. I have recommended him to all my friends.

Dr A was very polite and helpful. He listened to what I had to say and made recommendations based on my needs. He actually recommended a less expensive procedure, which he said would get me the results I was looking for. I am very satisfied with the services I received, and will recommend him to my friends.

Absolutely amazing! I felt more comfortable with Dr. A than I do with my gyno., which is saying a lot because I love my gyno. WOuld highly recommend! Spent so much time with me and answered every question I had.
