09/01/14 5 1 1 1 I found Dr. Yu friendly and helpful at the beginning but following surgery, as a positive outcome became more and more unlikely, he became less helpful and more cranky. I eventually had my foot operated on again by an orthopaedic surgeon and the result is fantastic. I would keep looking if I needed to have foot surgery.

28/11/13 2 1 1 3 Waited for over two and half hours only to be scolded for taking up too much of his time(less than fifteen minutes) when I asked some questions. Very poor attitude. Didn't care for the lack of cleanliness in his offices either. Have found another podiatrist.  Respond

28/11/13 2 2 1 2 Was referred by my Podiatrist for Extracorporeal shock wave therapy. Three 10 minute treatments for just under $700 and no improvement. That hurt.  Respond

27/12/12 1 1 3 3 Time is an issue at this office!!!! You wait & wait!!!!! As of Sept/2011, it was decided that I needed surgery. The Dr. forcasted March/2012---I got a call in May for a surgery date 2 weeks away.I had already booked a trip and couldn't make the date. I begged NOT to be put at the bottom of the surgery list. Every few months I would phone into the office to try and find out my status, and would get the same answer every time. By Sept/2012, I was fed up with waiting!!! My life had been on hold--pending this operation!! I seeked out another Dr., and am happy to say that my main problem has been solved WITHOUT surgery!!!!!! I feel like I've wasted money & time with Dr. Yu. Oh, and to this day I have not heard from his office, re: my surgery date!!!!!!  Respond

22/10/12 2 1 5 5 I have found this doctor to have good knowledge and patience explaining things to me as a patient. His sterile technique is very good (I'm a nurse and watch carefully how doctors perform). My only beef is that I wish he would find a more modern, spacious and cleaner looking office. Doing sterile technique in his present surroundings (although done correctly), seems to contradict the procedure. This might help his clerical staff to be more efficient and not to overbook so that patients have to wait long for their appointments. This is a real issue here in this office. I come from out of town aiming to be on time for my appointment.....and then to have to wait another hour for the doctor to see me is very frustrating.  Respond

27/06/12 4 2 5 5 Dr. Yu was very friendly and very clear about my options. He got rid of my ingrown toe nails and made sure I was ok through the whole thing.

15/06/12 1 1 1 1 If you want to waste your money go to him. They have no sense of time. You wait and wait. I waited 2 hours to see him and that too he was not answering my questions. Run as fast as you can

02/04/12 4 3 5 5 I am a diabetic with neuropathy and required surgery on my foot. I was referred to Dr. Yu and although punctuality of his appt. times are not one his strong suits, it's a small price to pay for someone who is as competent as Dr. Yu. He bonds with the patient very well and his bedside manor is excellent. I had the surgery in his Van. office under a local anesthetic and never felt a thing even though I had a piece of bone sawed out of my foot. Dr. Yu takes his responsibility seriously and will take time to phone you at home if necessary or if possible take the call when you phone if serious. His follow up care has been above expectations and has been a wealth of knowledge of many concerns I have had. I have never visited a better podiatrist 30+ years of needing their services. I honestly feel you can't do any better in the lower mainland.  Respond

22/11/11 5 3 5 5 I had a Morton's Neuroma removed four months ago and tendon lengthening done on my right foot after difficulty walking for months previously. I was pretty scared of everything I would be going through and Dr. Yu made me feel totally comfortable and he explained everything in great detail and spent so much time answering my questions/concerns. I injured my foot after the surgery and he has been an incredible support in my recovery. I recommend Dr. Yu to anyone! Thank you for everything :)  Respond

28/02/11 3 1 3 3 I am getting a second opinion. I should have noticed during my $160 consultation that he was a little off his rocker, but I gave him a chance. Upon visit 2, it was clear to me that Dr. Yu's bedside manner was awful. As someone terrified of needles, I don't appreciate being barked at- it doesn't relax me at all and made my cortisone injection extremely painful. On top of being so overbooked that I was only seen 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment, he had absolutely no time to inform me of side effects or of any further treatments I may need. I will not be visiting him again. That's for sure.  Respond

27/02/10 5 5 5 5 My son had 2 ulcers on the bottom of his foot. We had dealt with other doctors and specialists for three years and his foot did not heal. We were very frustrated with the medical care we received. At the recomendation of Fraser Health nurses we visited Dr Yu and under his care the ulcers healed in two and one half months. We also followed the program set out by naturpath Dr. John Matsen during the same period. We are very happy with the help we received from Dr Yu and Dr Matsen. Finally my son can again look forward to swimming and walking without a an aircast. I am certainly glad I looked past the negative ratings on this site and dealth with Dr Yu.  Respond

05/03/09 4 1 1 1 Complete waste of time and money. Had a problem with left foot. Dr. sent me for a bone scan which showed a possible stress fracture in the right foot. With a quick glance at the report and without even touching my foot, he casted the LEFT foot. The pain was in the left, the fracture showed in the right. He didn't even ask to see me right away when the error was noticed.  Respond

16/08/08 3 1 1 1 Had a toe operation and I ended up with an infection because he left the stitches in too long and it was a **** job. I ended up have to get a second operation due to septic shock (blood infection). There was no follow up care made and was not very familiar with after care procedures. His co-workers do not think very highly of him at Mount St Joseph's Hospital where the second operation was done. This matter is going to become a legal one for all the pain and suffering caused by Dr. YU. Dr YU should worry more about his patients after care and follow ups rather than his wallet. Very un-organized operation and dirty office.  Respond

04/07/08 5 3 5 5 I was in such pain that I could barely walk when I went to Dr. Yu. He explained quite clearly what the problem was and what my options were. The surgeries to my feet were quite involved and 100% successful. Dr Yu has given me back my long lost ability to walk like a normal person. I'm VERY pleased!!  Respond

17/01/08 2 1 2 3 We all look for the best doctor in the field, but, my experience with this doctor was a non satisfying one. I was punctual for both of my appointments but ended up paying for extra time waiting for the doctor and his personal affairs. Dr. Yu did not find the time to tell me what is causing my pain. If you feel your wallet is too heavy, book with this doctor. Cheers, Vancouverite  Respond

31/10/07 4 2 4 5 Dr. Yu had been recommended to me by a friend. Although I usually had to wait for my appointments Dr. Yu was always patient and took his time explaining his proposal to proceed. I arranged for two additional opinions, but went back to Dr. Yu for yet another consultation. I decided to let Dr. Yu do surgery on my foot because I felt most comfortable with his manner and explanations, felt that he was most knowledgable about feet and because my friend had had successful surgery. An orthopedic surgeon had created a problem for me, but Dr. Yu was able to fix my foot.  Respond
