03/07/14 4 4 5 5 Dr. Mugford is FANTASTIC. We have been with her for over 10 years. She is very knowledgeable and do not hesitate to make a referral to specialists if she feels that it is necessary. She is so patient and never rushes us. She is very busy and sometimes is a little bit behind (however we know that she is behind because she is doing a great job with other patients and once it is our turn to be called she will do the same to us). It is always worth waiting to see her. She has amazing bedside manners. Her nurses are very good as well. The office staff are very busy and calling the office can be frustrating; however, they have always been polite with us. She is an amazing doctor! We have moved to a different city but we still travel for almost 1 hour to see her because We feel that it will be very hard to find a doctor that is as good as doctor Mugford! We love her!!

19/07/13 1 3 2 4 Dr. Mugford is a warm doctor with an excellent bedside manner. Unfortunately, there are some particular areas of concern. For example, on two occasions, she and the office staff were unable to locate my file. At my two last physicals, Dr. Mugford promised to refer me to a specialist for extreme back pain and never followed through. When I phoned the receptionists to enquire, they were rude and said they would give her the message. They never do! On another occasion I asked to have an appointment to follow-up about my back and I was told "There are no appointments for several weeks" and then hung up on. I feel very disappointed in this office and would highly recommend you go elsewhere!  Respond

04/09/12 3 3 5 5 I can't say enough positive things about Dr. Mugford. She has been our family doctor for over 10 years and she never fails to impress me with her caring manner, probing questions, and personal follow up phone calls. I cannot recommend her highly enough.  Respond

19/04/12 3 2 5 5 I just had a visit with Dr. Mugford and as usual, she took the time to answer all my questions, was very thorough in her check up and always pleasant and kind. They say children are great judges of character and I must say they adore her, she has been their GP since their delivery and has always shown kindness and conscientiousness towards her patients. Yes she is often behind in her appointments but that is because she takes her time with you and allows you to express your concerns. She is the epitome of what is a great doctor. I haven't yet experience the rudeness of the admin staff stated in the other ratings. They are very busy so what comes across as rudeness may be brusque efficiency. Otherwise, Dr Mugford for me is the standard bearer of what doctor's were once was and what they should aspire to today.  Respond

10/04/12 4 4 4 4 Johanna is a very good doctor and is very thorough. She has been our family doctor for many years now. I agree she has dropped the ball a bit--forgetting follow up calls and referral appointments, but this can be forgiven based on her caring nature--it's really hard to find a doctor that actually cares. She has never rushed me and has always been there for our family.  Respond

24/10/11 2 2 4 4 Dr. Mugford was my doctor during my first pregnancy - I see another Dr. in the practice. She is friendly, maternal, and yes, maybe a little scattered. I wouldn't hesitate to see her again, but truly, the reception staff at Davisville Fam P are among the worst I've ever encountered. Absolutely no skill, tact, or manners.  Respond

18/04/11 4 4 3 4 Dr. Mugford is very pleasant and generally knowledgeable doctor. However, I agree with a previous poster that referrals are not her strong point! Check and check often!!  Respond

04/04/11 1 1 1 1 Horribly rude. Will never go there. Just phoned and asked if there were any openings. They immediately hung up.  Respond

07/02/11 5 5 5 5 Dr. Mugford has been my GP over 11 years and both my children and husband are now her patients. She is a great doctor. She is thorough, knowledgable, practical, kind, caring and linked into some of the best specialists in the country. My elderly mother has a horrible doctor who she regularly waits over an hour to see, posts notes all over her office to only address 1 health issue per visit, and seem only interested in billing in 10 minute increments. This the kind of doctor our health care system encourages. Yes, Davisville Family Practice is busy and sometimes the staff can be curt, but I have never encountered anyone who is uncaring or unprofessional. Dr. Mugford and staff deserve a 5. They represent what health care in Ontario should be.  Respond

16/09/10 2 3 4 4 Dr Mugford has been my doctor for 15 years now and I think she is fantastic. She is now my 1 year old's doctor as well. While I agree that some of the front desk staff can be rude at times as well as one of the head nurses (she is possibly the most miserable woman alive)there are some great, caring, knowledgable staff members there as well. What keeps me coming back is the excpetional bedside manner that Dr Mugford provides. When I see her I never feel rushed and she has gone out of her way many times to call me at work or at home if she needs to speak to me urgently about something. Yes she is generally running behind - find me a doctor these days who is not. The Davisville Family Practice offers an after hours clinic now where you can make an appointment - which is a great option and very rare in this city.  Respond

15/09/10 1 3 3 4 VERY frustrating office. Every referral is a nightmare. They are as busy as they are inefficient. Dr. Mugford seems to know her stuff but I would rate her as average. The complete chaos in here office overshadows any positive thing about it. I would NOT recommend her practice.  Respond

02/02/10 5 5 5 5 I don't know where the negative comments come from because everytime I've visited Dr. Mugford's Davisville Family Practice, I've gotten taken care of really well. Johanna has been my doctor and my sister's since them mid 90s. I moved with her from Bloor/Avenue to the new practice on Yonge. She's pleasant, patient, and detailed. What can you ask more? Maybe the staff is really busy, as a lot of pressure is put on clinics these days with criticism of our health care system, but I only have high regards for everyone who has assisted me. Top notch service and the best doctor I've received care from. Definitely way up from walk-in clinics. My doctor and I actually have a relationship, and not a haphazard one. Disregard the negative comments, cause that's probably from people who are generally frustrated and don't have good time management anyway. The test of quality is always proven over time, and with reputation within the greater community.  Respond

08/01/10 1 1 4 5 We have been seeing Dr. Mugford for 16 years, and although her bedside manner is exceptional, I'm now seeking a new doctor. The office staff at Davisville Family Practice are inept and unfriendly. It is almost impossible to see Dr. Mugford directly as she is unavailable or overbooked. We usually see some other Dr. in the practice who isn't familiar with us and there is no continuity of care. Files are lost, referrals are forgotten, and information is misplaced. I'm sorry to leave her after such a long doctor/patient relationship, but the downhill slide in patient care is not acceptable.  Respond

04/01/10 1 1 4 5 Dr. Mugford has been my physician for over 10 years and I'd have to agree she's been dropping the ball more and more over the past few years.I can't remember the last time I went to see her and she wasn't at least 30min late. When you do get to see her she's rushed to help you. Numerous times she's forgotten to tell me important follow up information. The staff and phone management problems are infuriating at best.I've recently switched doctors.  Respond

27/09/09 2 4 5 4 I've been going to her for about 10 years now and she is great! patient, thoughtful and thorough. I agree with another commentor that she seems to have dropped the ball a few times recently [forgot to get test requisition ready for me, or give me a referral], but thats likely a function of how busy she's gotten. Still think she's good though as she was very apologetic about the mistakes and took the time to call me at home and apologize personally which is quite exceptional for someone in her position. Her office staff in a word however "suck!". I agree with other commentors that they are also exceptionally rude and act like they are doing you a huge favour. The last time I tried to call for an urgent appointment as I was feeling awful,... I got a busy signal the 4 times I called. On the 5th occassion I excitedly got through, but was quickly disappointed when I was diverted to the answering machine that you guessed it, says not to leave a message to make an appointment. ugh!  Respond

28/07/09 2 4 5 5 I have had Doctor Mugford for over 12 years and found her to be a truly dedicated and efficient doctor. Even though, the reception seems a little disorganized and when you call you are put on hold and they seem a little peeved off you are calling and they are busy, she is the reason to go back....she takes great care of me and my family.  Respond

17/06/08 1 2 5 5 Dr. Mugford is a gem but with the exception of Sharon and the nurses the staff and service are deplorable. I have spent so much time on hold it is ridiculous - if I get through at all. They are often rude and assume that you will simply hang up and try again. I stayed on hold once for 20 minutes and then while on hold called from my cell...and got through!!! THey must get this sorted out!  Respond

27/11/07 2 4 5 5 Dr. Mugford is the best doctor I've ever met. Her receptionists leave much to be desired however - always put on hold, they forget why you're calling, don't return calls etc. But I put up with it because she's at least a great doctor. The nurses and blood lab person are also quite good.  Respond

30/08/07 4 4 5 4 Dr Mugford is great - very nice. Listens careful to all your questions/concerns. Definetly don't feel rushed. She seems to really think of the big picture regarding your health and not rush to assumptions. Would definetly recommend her.  Respond

27/08/07 4 4 5 5 I have been a patient of Dr Mugford's for well over ten years and she has been a really wonderful doctor. She is located at the Davisville clinic and the staff there have always been very helpful and courteous. Sometimes she gets behind schedule (best to get a morning appointment so that things don't get backed up) but once you get in to see her she takes her time, answers all questions and NEVER makes you feel rushed or foolish for asking anything. Her bedside manner is exceptional (she almost oozes with niceness but it's genuine) and I would recommend her to anyone.  Respond
