18/02/14 1 1 1 1 Went to him for several years as a kid. Found out in my teens the medication he had put me on had been shown to worsen my condition. One of the last times I saw him I was in a bad place and he told my mom and I that we were putting a lot on his plate and that it was only supposed to be a check-up. Scheduling problems were frequent, and we came from out of town. Don't bother.  Respond

21/07/10 4 4 4 4 Dr. Guscott is a compassionate, informed, and understanding individual who takes time to answer questions. He use's medication as a tool for psychiatric disorders but I don't believe he over medicates. He has given our family hope for the future and continues to provide support with both medication and providing behavioral strategies that have been effective. The only flaw I have found is the slow response time returning calls. I am very grateful for the diagnosis and continued treatment that my children have received from Dr. Guscott. Both of my sons are grateful as well.  Respond

15/06/10 1 2 1 1 The Dr seems to be comforting enough when you can see him. Appointments are regularly cancelled. But not impressed with his secretary Cindy she says she does things and then does not. She gets upset and flustered very easily and is rude and disrespectful of the pain the family is in. Would rather go anywhere then here.  Respond

21/05/10 3 3 2 3 Appears OK as an MD but overmedicates compared to anyone else I ever heard of. Other phych doctors are skeptical of the methods used by him an his wife dr. Taylor. If you disagree or ask questions you are fired like I was and they can be ruthless in dealing with anyone in their way.  Respond

20/10/09 5 4 5 5 Dr. Guscott is an incredibly informed doctor. From. my experience, there are too many psychiatrists in Hamilton whose diagnostic skills and understanding of medications is lacking. As a result, you go on for years with minimal results. Dr. Guscott is the exception. I was able to get well becuase he knew what he was doing. Thank you! Not everyone need medication but when you do, you do. Why must we always be on this anti drug campaign to the detriment of helping people who are sick.  Respond

19/02/09 3 3 1 2 I agree, he highly over-medicates and does not follow through on medications that should only be prescribed for short periods. When I attended for several years ending in early 2002, he seemed more sick than I was. I used alternative treatments (SAM-e) and he was interested in the treatment. It took several years and a hospital stay to stop taking the anti-anxiety meds that were only to be for very short term.  Respond

09/07/08 4 4 2 4 Dr. Guscott appeared friendly, experienced and knowledgable. Although he smiled and seemed kind, something went wrong. The medical file proved it. I complained to the CPSO and to the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board of ON where my concerns and the evidence from my medical file became a matter of public record - in 1997 and 2002. Quick labels and easy prescriptions, while 'efficient', did NOT help me recover. Maybe my bad outcome was my own fault. You can ask for guideline-quality care starting with root-cause medical testing, then ask for a differential diagnosis and check your prescription drugs to see that they have been researched and found safe and effective for your condition. As a specialist, Dr. Guscott can follow the practice guidelines of psychiatry. His articles, published in medical journals of Canada, US and the UK show Dr. Guscott as a published expert psychiatrist; the public trusts him to use standard of care procedures to diagnose and treat sick patients.  Respond

26/08/07 5 5 5 5 I can't say enough about this physician. He is wonderful. I highly disagree with the last comment. This doctor is wonderful with children and adults and explains everything. He is very compassionate and understanding. He is truly an educated and knowledgable physician.  Respond
