I had scheduled an ultrasound with Advanced Obstetrics and Gynecology as I found out I was pregnant and unsure of how far along I was. After the ultrasound, it was determined that I was still very early on in my pregnancy, though they could see that I was pregnant just no yolk sac/heartbeat yet. I then met with Dr. Rubin. To say this man is arrogant, rude, and dismissive would be an understatement. I had a miscarriage my first pregnancy, then two years after, a healthy pregnancy. When he walked in to discuss, the first thing he said to me was "well that ultrasound was interesting. This can either go on to be a healthy pregnancy, or can end in a miscarriage". Entirely insensitive. He then reviewed my medications with me, and despite my levels being within normal range said that he would need to increase the dose. which is not accurate. when I questioned his reasoning he brushed me off and stated "well we'll see, you'll definitely need a higher dose" He then told me he wanted to take blood work to make sure my HCG levels are rising and I’m not miscarrying. I'm going to reiterate, I’ve had a miscarriage previously. Specifically, a Blighted Ovum. With this miscarriage, though there was no baby, my HCG levels continued to rise, which I told him and asked what the bloodwork would actually distinguish as I need to have another ultrasound in 2 weeks to check the progression. Again, I was brushed off and told he just needs to see the levels. After speaking with my husband, I declined bloodwork. Told the RN who kindly understood. I began to leave. When the RN had informed the MD, and as I was walking out, Dr. Rubin irately approached me in the hallway yelling at me "I strongly urge you to return to the room to discuss this". 3 times this man yelled at me. I continuously declined to meet with him in the room, in shock and feeling entirely uncomfortable with how he was responding/speaking to me. In the hallway, in front of staff and other patients, yelled out that I could have an ectopic pregnancy. 1. this is a MAJOR HIPPA violation. 2. Not once did he express concern over an ectopic pregnancy while in the PRIVATE room where we originally spoke nor did he explain how he came to this belief. I walked out. I can't express enough my embarrassment, frustration, and overall distaste for this man with how he treated me given my history. Even if I did not have a previous history, this would have still been a traumatic appointment. For someone who has been in practice for years, this is truly sad. It felt he did not care for me, it felt as if he is someone who needed control. and a "I know more than you and don't need to explain" mentality.

One of the worst I’ve ever seen. Never helped me, just threw unnecessary prescriptions at me and never made eye contact. Extremely rude and condescending. On my first visit, while discussing my allergies with a nurse, she actually said that my food allergy (to raw fruit) was caused by my not eating a lot of it. Are you kidding me? It’s called oral allergy syndrome, Einstein. Read before you judge. On my last visit, he tried to force me into having a uterine biopsy without preparation. I adamantly refused and he walked out of the room. I got my needed prescription, left, and never went back. Adios, a-hole!

I had been using Dr. Rubin and his office for a little over a year and was very happy with the doctors, the nurses, and the all of the office staff, until now. I have been having problems with cysts on my ovaries for some time now and my one ovary has gotten so bad, Dr. Rubin recommended having that ovary and both tubes removed. He had also mentioned having my uterus removed while he was in there because I have been suffering from severe pain during my cycles. I had told him that I needed to discuss having the uterus removed with my sister because I had promised to carry for her had she and her husband decided to have a child. At this point, I was given a recovery time of 2-3 weeks with no lifting heavy objects. When I found out that my sister and her husband decided not to have children, I informed Ellie (the surgical coordinator) that I wanted to have the uterus removed as well. I'll be very honest and say Ellie was so knowledgeable, compassionate and helpful. I signed a form stating that I was aware that I could not have children once my uterus, ovary and tubes were removed. I had also signed a form stating that I would be responsible for a $100 rescheduling fee in case I reschedule my surgery within a certain amount of time before my surgery. I went for my preoperative tests and consult with Dr. Rubin and found out that no one updated my profile stating I was having my uterus removed as well. The nurse told me that since I was having my uterus removed, the recovery would be 4-6 weeks instead of 2-3 weeks, which obviously changed things for me and my future plans. I care for a woman with MS and breast cancer, which requires heavy lifting, and I am going to Disney not quite 4 weeks after surgery and then on a cruise for a week. When I asked if I would be ok to go on the rides with my 9 year old daughter, I was told "You could, but Dr. Rubin doesn't recommend it." I obviously decided that I wasn't going to risk causing injury to myself so close within my recovery time and asked to reschedule my surgery. It was at that moment I was told that I would be charged the $100 rescheduling fee on top of a "refundable" fee of $250. I expressed my opinion and said that I WILL NOT be held accountable for someone else's mistake and lack of updating my profile in the system. Dr. Rubin stood firm and told me that I would be responsible for the $100 fee and the "refundable" fee of $250. I was APPALLED! How could he be so bold? I even have a witness who heard me tell the office that I also wanted my uterus taken out. In other words, Dr. Rubin's office does not own up to their mistakes and expects the patient to pay for what they lacked to take care of. BEYOND disappointed!

I've seen Dr. Rubin for several years now and have noticed a decline in the practice overall. The last time I was there the procedures were lacking, with a surprise cervical biopsy that I did not sign a consent for and I was left on the table alone after that painful procedure and had to drive myself home. I was dizzy and upset and could have fallen off the table. He was rushed in discussing with me the need for the procedure while my legs were in stirrups. He is usually not that unattentive. I was not given any discharge instructions and no one from the office called to follow up to see how I was recovering. The nurse who did my intake was the nicest nurse I've ever had there, which was the only positive thing about that visit. I am now faced with a decision of whether to see a different dr in that practice or find a new practice all together. .

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Rubin. He is an extremely knowledgeable person and an incredible doctor. I see him for my yearly exams and he also delivered my first baby. I would highly recommend him. He is my favorite dr in the practice. He is very easy to talk to, even about the most uncomfortable topics. Just an all around great doctor

Dr. Rubin is extremely knowledgeable. He can be frank (not always appreciated), but he is right on target.

I have been a patient of DR. Rubin and Advance OB/GYN for the past 13 years. Although Dr. Rubin did not deliver any of my 5 children, three were delivered by other doctors in the office. My second pregnancy was with twins and considered high risk and my third pregnancy my baby had a very severe and life threatening birth defect. Dr. Rubin was amazing with that pregnancy. They all were very compassionate and supportive. Ultimately my care was transfered to Childrens Hospital Of Philadelphia, but I would still go to get Ultrasounds weekly at the office. My fifth child was delivered by Advanced Ob/GYN 11 months later. I think that Dr. Rubin and all the other Doctors are very knowledgeable and careing. I would reccomend him to anyone!

Dr. Rubin declined to return phone call post visit re. concerns about the nuvaring. He and his staff were unable to answer questions re. use of this contraception, even after an exam. Rather than focusing on the workings of the contraception itself, Dr. Rubin wanted a sonogram to be done. My followup phone call after the visit specifically dealt with further observed effects of the nuvaring. But staff person who returned the phone call (not Dr. Rubin, even) repeated only that Dr. Rubin wanted a sonogram. I had to find out from another doctor's office how to manage the nuvaring and its specific effects and particular usage.

I have been with Dr. Rubin for over 10 years now. He has helped me through fertility issues, cancer scares and then 2 successful pregnancies. I can never say enough about him, he is extremely knowledgeable, kind, considerate and is always top of his game. During my second pregnancy the practice stopped accepting my health insurance, but I still see him once to twice a year for my routine appts. I don't want to and hopefully never have to go somewhere else. He and his colleagues and staff are the most dedicated doctors I have ever had the luxury of seeing. Thank you Advanced OB/GYN for everything!
